you also need to include that 90% of his thumbnails are misleading. There is no new bug mission. One person on the Internet had an idea and put it on Reddit, and then he read that idea.
That escort mission was in HD1. It was a train-like car that was a pain to finish because chargers would always ruin it, or the bug that shoots tentacles through the ground 1-shots it. Also, the motor weapon was ALSO in HD1 that also poisoned the ground/area that it hit. Would have to charge it for a moment, then it fired 3-4 shots. It was one of the few ways to solo armored-chargers (Chargers with their butts covered. Yes this was a nightmarish thing). I really wish people looked into HD1 more. It was a FANTASTIC game with just as much epic moments/gameplay as HD2. It was full of vehicles, weapons, stratagems, and much more. The mechs people been asking for in HD2 are all in HD1. The twin-autocannon, as well as the flamethrower/Autocannon. There was even a damn TANK you could call in, which was a two-person vehicle. One person drives, other person uses turret.
My barrier to enjoying HD1 is the top down view, I just can't get into isometric or birdseye view games unless it's a strategy
@Boodank117 I'd hope someone pin your comment cause you are correct. Helldivers is where all this content is from. At some point all this content will be in the game. We may end up doing mine sweeping missions just like in the original Helldivers too. The mortar, motorcycle with gun emplacement side car, razor wire type barrier that slows movement, weapons that do acidic based damage, and a combination flamethrower and antitank shell mech suit. The OG Helldivers is the source for future content.
yeh i could never play a top down 2 dimensional game for very long. but it is good that all this stuff has been workshopped. i love that it's ready to go, but i have no desire to play it in it's original form. all of these things are now things we can look forward to, and they've been beta tested.
To those confused: He ment "mortar weapon". It was called a Rumbler in Hd1 and was bonkers. Crazy strong. Shot few rockets in a volley, had 4 'shots' in a magazine and the entire volley was highest damage int he entire game by far, exceeding even the nuke, Shredder missile. The reload was crazy long tho, and it did not support assisted reload. Why is Clouds so fucking existed with "reddit ideas" pulled straight from the first version?!?
I really thought since I loved HD1 so much that the game was more popular. Now, I feel like nobody played the damn game since everyone seems so uneducated on the items and concepts from HD1. It makes me sad really
4:14 Why would they waste time and resources to drive the E-710 from one holding facility to another when they already use Pelicans to take the E-710 directly from the current holding tanks? Furthermore all the localized E-710 pumps, storage locations, and ICBM silos are linked together with piping which further nullifies the need to risk inefficiently driving it overland.
They had vehicle escort missions in the first helldivers but they were in a track system. If would be better if it was a sample haul or machinery for TSC towers or mech suit or something. We already have 710 air transports. An escort tanker mission does seem like a waste.
The flea is actually really interesting cause its an interesting "opposite" approach to the Yippee bug in Lethal Company when you think about it
I hate anything that takes your stuff. just not fun. Ark had a couple of annoying dinos that would do that.
I was reminded of the Deep Rock Galactic critter known as the "Loot Bug". It can suck up loose minerals, and drops them (and then some) when killed.
Imagine if the last 2 defend missions were in a different sector and you won't know who your enemy is till you drop and it's the illuminate 💯

💯 Ok, this is a little lengthy but necessary. So for the mortar concept I actually have personal experience with this. The US military has a 60mm mortar. It can be used stationary with a set base plate with up to 4 nitrogen Styrofoam ring charges for a max range of 3,500 meters. It can be used in a dismount variation with a cleft foot attachment and a trigger instead which allows the 60mm to be carried with a sling. It has a sort of banana loop like leveler attatched to it that has a bb rolling in it to tell you toyr firing angle. On one side of the level it has estimated range markers for firing a zero charge mortar shell. Dismount you are not aupposed to use a charge, or the tube might breat your hand. You stab the cleft foot into the dirt, and place your free thumb toward the top of the mortar as a direction aiming sight, then angle the mortar according to the range you think the target is at on the banana angle thing, and squeeze the grip trigger to fire. Max range is 200m. Source, I was a 13F Fire Support Specialist for 9 years and have cross trained with a few diffrent mortar platoons
Two reasons why we do not have escort mission yet. One, people hate escort mission. Second, they need to have introduced the vehicles to have vehicles to escort. But, I suspect it has been part of the plan from the start, because we had escort missions in game 1.

I like to think that it's more so a question of why we would transport oil on land and we've already done missions where we're transporting it via airship. Seems as though we've already surmised transporting anything on the ground is quite a helldrive
Saw a concept for a quick 12 minute blitz mission. Rescue the pilot of a downed Eagle / Pelican and escort them to an extraction zone.
Cool idea but it would never work. The diver with the arc thrower would kill him everytime 😄

I remember arguing with someone about how fighting the bugs in the previous game was more fun than fighting the Cyborgs and that the same will most likely happen with Helldivers 2 once it got released. I don't think people hate fighting the Automatons, they just prefer fighting the bugs.
I just played the early bot defense missions and, even though I knew the spawn-rate was BROKEN, it still put me off of bots for a long time because it was the opposite of fun.
Interesting, I love fighting the bots, something about the sounds of bullets on steel beckons to me I suppose!

My friend group has a joke, Automaton are active duty, bugs are us getting to go on vacation, usually under order of high command
@@Arcath We did this same joke yesterday lol. we dove into a helldive bot mission as we tend to do, after about 3 full missions we decided we needed some R&R so headed to omicron on level 6 to farm some common samples (is it wierd that these are the ones i tend to run short on?) the gleeful slaughter of bugs is by far more relaxing than the intensity of bots returning fire but also dropping the diff every now and then also let's us take in the scenery a bit more and enjoy the long strolls along the countryside.

Escort missions in games are right up there with mandatory stealth missions, when it comes to awfulness.

The portable mortars is a thing in RL. I'm a veteran in the US Army who's MOS was 11B (Light Infantry). The 11C's are the guys that carry the mortars while another carries the ammunition for them. Why this isn't already a thing in the game is anyone's guess, but I also believe that this would be a great addition to the game
The system was modelled after the m224a1 60mm

The success of The Oshuane Gambit was a turning point in the Major Order as it gave us an automatic defensive win on Fori Prime, resulting in Helldivers redeploying to V5.
With the bugs and bots we need to see like a small cities overrun , planets new environment, more enemies

New stratagem ideas? A crisscrossing laser grid orbital strike that covers a 50m circle, decimating small enemies. Gravity displacing blast wave generator. Tossing this acts like a mine thrower but instead of placing mines it sends enemies in the area of effect into the air and let's them fall to the ground repeatedly. Arc strike, just basically a giant arc bolt striking from the destroyer. Explosive Drone Swarm: a box full of 20 drones drops and auto deploys small explosive drones that fly to any available targets. Fire vortex, drop fire bombs in an area of effect and a large flaming tornado spawns that sucks up small enemies and damages larger ones until the fuel burn off.

Convoy mission not in game probably cause the procedural generation. It would be quite hard to program so convoy mission generates properly on top of terrain we usually have. Although generation can account for the mission that will be on it later, but i think it doesn't work like that. So it takes time to arrange things for convoy mission, thats it.

I think the reason for people being done with bots is prior to this we busted our ass to push them all the way back and then succeed in removing them from the galactic map. Then without missing a beat they come flooding back a few days later taking over pretty much every bit of space in their sector and kind of making that victory feel null and void. We came together as a community to rid us of the threat of the bots for a while and not even a week later they are all anyone is talking about. Personally I was hoping with the bots pushed back we would of gotten some good ole bug missions and then the illuminate and then when one of them got pushed out then have the bots return from the fringes of space. We even squashed the 2 billion bug mission as everyone was tired of bots and our reward for that is a big middle finger and more bot defense. Personally i don't mind fighting either of them but am enjoying bug fighting more while i work on upgrading my ship features.
I like the idea of a bug that will steal things, so if you die and leave your quasar cannon and shield behind, it can get stolen which means you'll have to survive while waiting for the strategems to cooldown.

Here’s an idea for the mortar, pulled from another game called Enlisted. When the mortar is deployed, waypoint markers can display their distance from the player. Additionally, the method of aiming will change when the mortar is deployed, and a rangefinder will be displayed to show how far way the mortar will land, controlled by up and down aiming motion. 3rd person aiming system will not easily facilitate this, so this will have to be a strictly ADS weapon, for both the range finder and showing the direction of fire.

For aiming the mortar, they could reuse the Helldiving camera perspective.... Plus a "3rd Person" view for Short range where you could just show an arc visual.

It's both really fun to see creations other people make for some of their favorite games and to be someone making custom content yourself, even if it's very unlikely it makes it into the game. I do it a whole lot for just about every game I play. Aside from mild gushing about creativity and stuff, I do want to recruit one of my friends into being a helldiver so 💯, and congrats on the 100k!
the portable idea would be nice for the HMG emplacement maybe fold it and wear it as a backpack maybe to refill it just do that and slap a buff on it and it would be nice instead I always feel like it either doesn't do enough fast enough or I leave it behind with ammo left in it.

Dayum the mortar idea is dope. Aiming may work like: to have distance of shot shown as you aim up/down. And you know the distance you need by setting markers on map.
I think the mortar is a great idea, it should shoot by opening up your mini map to full screen, then you choose spots on the map for it to rain down damage. (Limited range not whole map) This would also alow it to work in Tangent if a person was wearing the armor that gives you increased radar radius on pings, the ship mod, and the team booster. Then when they ping the map it gives you a better idea of where to drop your mortars

Thought of something after hearing the mortar idea. 1) it could have different ammo types (like the seaf) and 2) would it be cool if the grenade launcher could have different ammo types as well? Like hold down reload and can switch from explosives to incendiary or gas nades. Sounds kinda cool to me

I love fighting the automatons the problem is the evacuate high priority engineers. That mission with automations is nearly impossible I’ve completely 1 out of 10 attempts
They should make it so when a sentry runs out of ammo it stays up instead of goes into the ground, and then give the option to feed an ammo pack from the supply backpack to refill its ammo.
I liked the UAV drone strategem they had in HD1, could be useful in HD2 for sample mining.
Reason E-710 transport isn't in the game is simple. Securing E-710 and transporting it is already there, we repair the pipeline and pump the fuel up into the shuttles. A transport truck mission could work but would need to have a better choice of cargo that fits the lore and also would need a good reason as to why it needs to be transported across surface and not just picked up by drop ship at any location. (We know drop ships can drop walkers anywhere you call so they could pick up stuff too) That's my thoughts anyway
I saw one mission concept for a 2 person tank to carry and I feel it would be cool forces teams to stick together but I’m hype for what’s coming with this game 💯💯💯

Escort missions like that can really suck, but if you split the way a couple of times like with a refinery or two it would really compensate for setbacks 💯 like if a transporter is destroyed you could go back and start that part new not the whole trip

I like the concepts, would be very excited for more stratagems like the heavy machine turret (rocket launcher, mortar, mini gun, even laser or quasite etc). A big map of defense or swarm for the big orbital barrages! (For example icbm or retrieve valuable data size maps would be epic)!

Fun fact, a man-portable mortar was in the first Helldivers...although it was more akin to a Grenade Launcher on steroids ... complete with toxic payload I'm still patiently waiting for some melee weapons in Helldivers. OG game had Bayonets and Sabers. I would like also to see a laser spear like from Stargate and maybe a Tomahawk which returns to the user (using some liberated Illuminate technology). Weapon slots would vary. (for example) A basic combat knife for last resort uses a new weapon slot, the throwing Tomahawk or Laser-Sabre replaces a sidearm, and the Stargate Spear is a primary slot
Helldivers 1 has a saber? I haven’t seen that. I see a sword in the main artwork for it and I was stoked to get my hands on it but haven’t seen it.

It's not that we hate to fight bots it just that it is more helpful to beat the bugs because it's more faster and more helpful to the major order, so instead we keep breaking our leg on bots and wasting the remaining time on them we just have to switch to the bugs so that we can complete this major order in time
I also think taking a players ideas and putting in game..we be a huge win for Arrowhead
