  • 2012 Australian Open is still the best tournament Rafa has ever played where he didn't ultimately win. Those wins over Berdych and Federer, and the narrow loss in the final, were all extraordinary matches.

  • By far one of the best Rafa Nadal's performances on hard ! Roger played a great match and great tournament but Rafa was at his very best. So many passing shots from him in this meeting, and incredible rallies from both players. This Fedal is so underated because it's "only" a 4 sets match in the semis (not 5, not a final) and because the final against Djokovic two days later was one of the best tennis matches of all time.

    • It’s underrated because it’s not statistically a well played match. Sure, there are some incredible points but overall, WAY too many unforced errors and some wildly miss timed shots by Fed. Federer does not return well of consistency. Almost all his 33 return errors were at least makeable, if not easy. Misses 4 routine returns in the 4th game of 2nd set! Then is broken to love playing crap after that to lose the set. Loses first 7 points of third set to go down 0-40. Atypical from Fed trying low percentage shots all match. Federer: 76 errors to 31 winners. He has more than twice as many unforced errors than Nadal. Not nearly Fed’s best and Nadal is clearly the better player, this match.

      @bchanna12@bchanna1228 күн бұрын
  • Even tho he lost, it's amazing how consistent Fed has been throughout his AO career. Besides 2015 and 2019, has either been the semis, finals or champion.

It’s all to do with what you bring to the court on the day. 2017 roger hit through his backhand more, less slice and more flatten out cross court to rafas forehand, which change their entire match up (expect that French open semi where Nadal thumped him) also stet edberg got Federer to play more serve volley points and going up the court (which I think held him back quite a bit imo)

  • The chance that these two masters of differing style come together to put on this extraordinary level, precipitated by the sheer mastery of Federer's genius is astonishing. Nadal has to push his athleticism and grit all out to answer Federer's dominant execution with the level of desparation he has to produce, and patient, it pays off. Federer only loses because he's still too experimental with his unparalleled technical mastery where Djokovic and Nadal particularly will stay steady and completely locked in. • truth be told, i was a Federer fan until i started to realize how soft he was....... lost to marat safin at 2005 AO final, lost to nadal at 2008 wimbledon final, lost to nadal at 2009 AO open final, lost to Del Potro at 2009 US OPEN final, lost tp Djokovic at us open in 2010 an 2011, lost to Nadal again at 2012 AO open semifinal, and i'm not even gonna mention the many loss's to nadal at the French open.... for all of his artistry an fluidity on that court, he has no mental toughness.........none! he cracks, starts committing unforced error after unforced error.......that's why i call him Roger softerer-chokerer-frauderer!

    • He used heavy 340gr raquet. In 4th and 5th set your hand starts getting weak and tired on one hander. He said that if his kids play he would like them to use 2 hander. Btw I'm Djokovic's fan, not Fed crazy fan or something like that

  • Main reason why Federer can never be the GOAT, his losing record against Nadal! Federer fancy him so much his balls disappear every time they play each other!!
