  • When sanding, is the speed of the lathe determined by personal preference or by the density (type) of the wood you are using?

    @timplumey-fl5xn@timplumey-fl5xn6 ай бұрын
    • Hi there, the speed is determined by the size of timber, the balance, the task and the ability of the turner. Hope this helps

    • The board itself is correct, the right square nearest the player is white (white on right), then inwards it goes Rook, Knight, Bishop and the easiest way to remember what way the King and Queen goes is that the Queen always starts on its own colour square (white Queen on white square).

  • roughly how long did it take you to turn each piece? im thinking of making a chess set for a school project but i just need to ensure i will have enough time, thanks :)

    @benneedham9172@benneedham9172Ай бұрын
    • Hi there, it will depend on how accomplished your turning is and the chess piece. Colwin took 10-15mins per piece, not including preparing the blanks. Some of the more complex shapes may take longer.

      @axminster@axminsterАй бұрын
  • It's easier if one set was black as far as color goes or a different color than on the board as far as cnc x concerned

  • Wooden pieces are easier to tell the difference if they are painted

    @8901WCTENNESSEE@8901WCTENNESSEE3 ай бұрын
    • It would depend on the wood. You need enough contrast in either value (light to dark), hue (color), or graining.
