  • Wire brushes will damage your expense paint brushes. Use a hard nylon brush instead.

  • If you need to use brush again with emulsion paint next day there's another tip. Save time and mess etc you can put brush in a plastic bag wrapped tight. Same with rollers. But if using solvent paint can leave dipped in a pot of water then shake off water when using again. Or there's a thing called Brush Mate which is a vapour box that keeps all solvent paint brushes soft for around 7 months. Concealed with a vapour pad

  • Simply wash it thoroughly with water and let is soak over night in warm water and a couple of squirts of dish soap (Or TSP). The next say rinse out well and hang the brush to dry.

    • "Spin well, place brush back into jacket to retain shape and store however you wish. If hanging, I would say bristles down." - From Tom

  • i am amazed you're using a WIRE BRUSH to clean paint brushes 😳😳😳 seems quite 'aggressive' 🤔🤔🤔 great (video) 'tip' (that white lane near handle is virtually impossible to remove) will definitely give it a go, buying a wire brush now 🏃🏻‍♂️🏃🏻‍♂️🏃🏻‍♂️ 😂😂😂 many thanks 🙌🤓🙌

  • I've been a decorator for 46 years and this video is painful to watch. That's a Wooster brush he has ; high quality. But won't be for long with that treatment. 1. It does matter if the water is hot or cold ; Too hot and it will distort the shape of the brush and set any left over paint. It needs to be slightly warm ; no more. 2. Don't so that to your filaments with a wire brush, get a nylon brush. 3. Use a metal brush comb to clean the brush properly. 4. Take it easy...he is way too rough. 5. Spin out the water, and reshape.

  • So you are telling us to save a brush from landfill ,,,very ecological..... THEN you wash the paint down the sink drain and into the sewer system ...NOT very ecological In the UK our grey water goes to a local sewage works and is treated , the thought of paint and other solvents getting into the system is a no no and it doesnt matter if the paint is water soluble it is not ecological to wash down the sink that is connected to a public system....

    • So what is the UK approved technique for washing a paint brush?

      @tombattley8304@tombattley83043 жыл бұрын
    • @@tombattley8304 its not a case of " UK approved technique " it is being environmentally friendly , for instance if you do an oil change on your car do you then pour the old oil away down the drain , or do you dispose at your local recycling centre or your municipal landfill / refuse dump.....the same with any water or spirit base wash in a container then take the residue for proper disposal...............

    • Bin it buy new one

      @liamdyer9913@liamdyer99132 жыл бұрын
    • @@tombattley8304 I usually clean my brush with one of the outside spigots (I remodel foreclosures) that way I don't have to clean up the sink area. I just run the water and use my hand against the brush rather than smash it in the sink. Takes a little more time but saves me cleanup so I can just lock up and go once it's done

    • are you serious or being a troll? latex paints are designed for sewage systems. If no one ever washed up their paint then nothing would ever get painted...do you know how much money you would need just for brushes if you are a paint contractor? you cant throw them away every time....(forgetting how much landfill space brushes from all painters would take up.) my brushes cost upwards of 30 bucks a piece. only oil based paints are no good for the plumbing. the rest are fine. been a painter for 25 years....you're going to hate it when i tell you that most painters if they can will wash their brushes, rollers, frames, buckets etc in the customers yard. Painting is a dirty buisness and all that waste has to go somewhere.
