Professor John Lennox begins by declaring himself as a believer in God. He says he's not ashamed of being both a scientist and a Christian but is tired of the constant choice being put forth to chose either God or Science.
The motivating force behind science is that the universe and the human mind ultimately stem from the same intelligent divine mind.
He goes on to say that science can find answers to almost everything in the universe apart from why it was made; only god can reveal that piece of information to us. The proof for the existence of god comes in the form of Jesus Christ, God in human form. Therefore god isn't a theory he's a person.

You're a hypocrite for saying Christians assume God exists when you assume (given you believe in history) that Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle existed. All that was left of them was writing. You have to assume, on some level, that nobody was trying to make up these philosophical characters through writing. Such historical figures are never certain, but the key is to treat them all the same, from an unbiased view. We all assume. Assumptions are made everyday, but some are more ridiculous than others, like when you assumed that OP wouldn't appreciate freedom of speech if there were atheists in the video, which there clearly are, and moreso throughout Oxford University.

    • Al arguments you list, are just made up falsehoods with no evidence preached by Lennox. 1. Science exists on its own by the research and discoveries of scientists --- no god necessary. 2. Logical thinking clearly shows that no evidence exists for any god. 3. Morality is a social construct, all different from society to society --- no god involved. 4. The meaning of life is determined by each individual for him/herself --- no god is needed. 5. Justice is a relative term: No evidence exists for life after death or for any Jesus.

  • We can only know God by revelation in the heart. There is no other way. I used to believe in God, and did all the right 'churchy' things from traditional to charismatic, but God took me through the cross. He brought me so low that I even denied Him, but in that darkness I confessed I knew nothing let alone who He was, or if even if He existed. It was then He revealed Himself to me. I know Him, not because of what I did, but purely because of His grace. I did not chose to know Him, He chose to know me.

      @fearisallie@fearisallie3 жыл бұрын
    • @@fearisallie Revelation from God is when one hears His word. His word comes as a flash and fills one with peace. His word is not so much language, but Spirit and life and this is what Jesus taught (John 6: 63). The peace of the Spirit guides the mind as to language to describe His word. However the Lord, with me, often uses pictures and then invites me to interpret. It is usually then when one finds and sees something new. These moments become pillars in one's life, and although it is good to write them down, the Lord does remind us of what He has said to us, as the life in a word is from Him. There are two things when God speaks. One needs to wait. God is quiet and gentle. He does not speak through the dramatic as for example as witnessed with many tele-evangelists, but to the quiet soul who often is hurting. He does not reject the person with a broken spirit (Psalm 51: 17). Indeed the power of the cross brings hurt into the soul, but then it is then when finally a soul can hear Him. Secondly if God has spoken He proves what He has said through circumstances. One stands in faith and let Him prove His word, as after all it is He who has spoken. I have found that one gentle touch from the Spirit can cause one to life a chin with a smile as then one knows He is in control. Indeed this is what true faith is, trusting Him and not oneself. No one can teach you to know God's voice, it is instinctive (1-John 2: 27) and the sheep know the voice of the Lord (John 10: 27). You are having a very valuable experience, as ultimately you will find you will truly know God in your heart. It is not about all your achievements and career, true life is simply to know His joy in your heart (Romans 14: 17, John 17: 3). God also sanctifies your life, so you find joy in little things, as it is now His joy in what you do. God takes delight in little things. You may not achieve much in this world, but you have Him, and on the day of judgement He will say to you, 'I know you, enter into my joy.' You are walking the narrow path to eternal life and few are they who find it. Wait on the Lord, be of good courage. And He shall strengthen your heart. Wait, I say, wait on the Lord! ' Ironically it is in waiting one finds Him. A seed sown must die before it blossoms to newness of life, and that life is Christ Jesus.

Someone else can't hear your thoughts, but you know they're there.wifi signals are invisible, but if you turn off your router Internet disappears. Your finger prints are unlike any other person on Earth. You'd be totally arrogant to think you could understand the universe with a human mind. You know your soul exists because it differs from others. The evidence you shout is the same as every other athiest. The Bible is the most historically accurate book, or document of all time. More than any other book ever. You can even Google that. Also I bet there's been a time in your life when you've felt desperate that you've said please God. The book has remained accurate through all plauges, the Holocaust, and every other mass genocide. Look at all the near death experiences. A lot of them who are doctors, scientist, and many other science believing athiest, who died go to hell, and find Jesus. Some instances they're dead for hours, or days. They had nothing to gain from these things, actually they could only lose from them. Some have lost marriage that was over 20 years. Quit high paying pristigious careers. You're very foolish and close minded to think this is it. Miracles happen everyday science can't explain. It is your job to look with an open mind for your self. If you open the Bible and read you can literally feel the holy spirit. Also it makes total sense the government puts flouride in our water. The Bible talks about our pinial glad being our way to Jesus. Flouride in the water literally attacks our spirit molecule. This makes total sense to me that the devil is very near, and if he could would banish the Bible for ever. Many countries have banned the Bible. In China they're tearing down Christian churches as we speak. Stop listening to the science put out by your lobbyist governments. Did you know that 70% of what independent studies show doffer from government funded ones. You sir can trust in The FDA who puts cancerous things like red 40, and yellow 5 in everything. Did you know that the FDA gets over 70% of it's GDP from big pharma? So they allow these things to poison you, and then give you vaccines with all kinds of harmful materials in them. Right now 5G is killing all kinds of birds, and bees. Monsanto is currently working on creating a genetically modified bee that only will pollinate there gmo foods. Also 70% of independent studies show 5G frequencies manipulate your thyroid into allowing harmful toxins to pass the blood brain barrier. This is no work of man alone. This has been a plan since the beginning of time. Do me a favor and look up what agenda 21 is. Then also cross reference it with the most historically accurate book of all time. The Bible. 100 years ago most people were God fearing Christian's. Did you also know that in the 1980s over 60 different companies owned the rights to media, and today it's just 6 families that put out the news. Go do some research of the FCC, and how the leader of it is chairman Ajit Pai, an ex Verizon wireless telecommunication attorney. Obama said there would be no lobbyist in his administration, and he was the first person elected into the FCC. You watch as agenda 21, and the rest of the events of the rapture become true. What's funny is last year I said the same things you're saying right here. Then I watched a documentary on KZhead called frankenskies proved to me the devil is very real, and everything I ever thought to be true was a lie. I hope you find jesus, because he's very real, and if you allow him to come into your heart he will forgive you, just as he had mine. I know it, because I can feel it, and now I'm doing these things to help people like you. I have nothing to gain from this, and feel much ridicule, but it's worth it, because I know for a fact it exists.

    • The third of your questions is probably the most difficult one for theists to properly answer. We have no reason to believe that an environment which pre-existed the universe should in any way resemble the universe. If cause-effect relations are constitutive of the universe, to the extent where the latter can be defined as the totality of all such relations, it is reasonable to believe that they did not pre-date the universe but rather were themselves a product, but of this is the case it follows that the universe cannot be an effect, which indicates that it does not have a cause. However, we could go one step further and ask whether cause-effect relations are even something we find in the universe, or whether they’re something we project onto it (e.g. in order to get around what David Hume identified as the problem of ‘constant conjunction’ in which we can only say that event b came after event a, and not that b was *caused* by a).

  • This wasn't the strongest speech I've seen Lennox (or anybody) give for why God exists. But there is a great subtlety to what Lennox was doing that most commentators here seem to have missed. They complain that he did not provide any scientific or mathematical evidence, completely missing that Lennox has end-run around that by arguing that 1) the existence of God is the only reason that the universe is rationally intelligible, and 2) God is a personal being and therefore we encounter Him most profoundly not through rational argument but through personal relationship. Lennox wasn't attempting to provide scientific evidence for God. He was challenging the epistemological assumptions of materialistic atheism. He said it right at the end: these are my reasons for why God should be trusted. Not merely that God exists, but why God is trustworthy to be in relationship with.

    @EmilyRose1@EmilyRose18 жыл бұрын
    • Emily Rose The atheist coherent counterargument (if you would listen) is "WE DON'T KNOW" . . . completely rational. It's NOT some magic being put in the place of "we don't know" that solves the mystery. (which isn't "faith" - don't be fooled - deists consider it FACT). So atheists want the complete removal of the magical myth. Not necessarily to replace it. Promoting science as the only humanly thing that is going to get us close to the truth. Period. Wake up.

      @chrissonofpear1384@chrissonofpear13844 жыл бұрын
    • @@chrissonofpear1384 the question of ,why nephelim exist?, Is simple enough to answer, they are the material challenge to Gods creation ( Man) by the fallen angels. The nephelim are not created beings they an obomination, a forced mixture of man and angel, They have no place in creation , even so, they posses an immortal spirit without a immortal body and lack a designated function. Disembodied nephelim are evil spirits or Demons they are in limbo, unable to be redeemed and unfit to enter heavenly dimensions, Demons are bound to the earth (nephelim) translates to: 1. The fallen 2. Earth born They have been judged and cursed to wander the earth until the day of the Lord. They are able to attack humans because we share a physical realm and at least partly, we are genetically similar, them being half humans. Demons attack humans in order that we be judged along with them. They are jealous and dejected to the point of mad hate and posses no hope, that makes them vengeful towards, in their view an 'unjust' God. Here is the real question, why is this not canonical? It was canonical until the Catholic pagans removed it and designated it fiction in order to obscure the underlying nature of our world and the spiritual war raging just beyond the veil. The Torah includes Enoch as well as the Ethiopian scriptures. Enoch is referenced in the Bible, directly, a few times and eluded to countless times. The dead sea scrolls also contained a copy of Enoch. Incorporating Enoch into your understanding of the Bible explains, literally, everything. Feel free to ? Me I will try to answer as best I can. If unable will refer you to a relevant source. God bless you and may he guide you to understanding.

  • After watching Professor Millican and Dr. Shermer along with Professor Lennox. I'm predisposed to Hope. In that I have Hope that there is more to my finite existence. I also hope and truly believe all of these high-minded people intend goodwill to all. However, I am not naive in that there are people and some in power today and throughout history who only strive toward personal gratification and the masses be damned. So YES, it is hope that Dr. Shermer clearly explains has been used to exploit people throughout history and even now. I do agree the masses are easily duped into all sorts of distractions and misdirection. Reasonably explaining the historical manifestation of the gods and belief systems. But that does not disprove the existence of God whatever our understanding of the deity is as each of us are intellectually limited individuals of various degree. Moreover, it is HOPE in a higher power, as flawed as it may be in our own rights, that a conscience and agency outside of one's physical being is incomprehensible and fantastic beyond my understanding. It is that concept to which I'd rather lean into, opposed to one day ceasing to exist altogether. Yes! That is my Hope. Is the existence of good and evil and equivalency to the wind and a predator Shermer? YES! I'll make the assertation that those who reject even the notion of God or that they are in fact a god in their own write are indeed the unknowing predators. Does an eagle believe it’s a predator? No, but the field mouse understands this implicitly. Therefore, we hopeful should be on guard as blindly ignoring the proclamation that God does NOT exist is both deadly and hopeless. I vote YES, GOD exists.

If god were to choose our circumstances we would be void of the sun collapsing, dark matter entitling our whole universe, and we would experience heaven as we know it. So I believe that god is an entity to all beings in the cosmos and is not judged by a single gender since he is the entity. Other aliens might have beliefs like this too, but it is a manifestation of god. God does not only help us, but helps the other intelligent life out in the cosmos, the cosmos is a fast thing and it passes on. In Chapter 12 I note: This is where it gets very personal… God could put an end to evil, but then how would He have to deal with you?  Should He take away your free will and make you a mindless zombie, an automaton?  Should He immediately punish you every time you slip up?  Should He make an exception to His holiness and perfect sense of justice just for you? [This would, of course, make God’s justice imperfect.]  Should He “…cast you out into the darkness where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth?”  Or would you rather He make a way for every one of your sins, past, present, and future, to be forgiven and atoned for all eternity? God thought the latter to be the better option, so He made it possible for everyone to make that choice. Yes, even for Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahmer and Son of Sam. And all religions outside The Bible which is God's inspired word are demonically inspired. God has already described how human history began and how it will end because He exists outside time. He has been proven correct so far. The Bible has never prophesied incorrectly, how could it since God knows everything?

I am religious, and have been for a long time. 2: Despite having faith, I STILL RESPECT OTHERS’ OPINIONS. I can’t stand the judging replies to non-religious commenters. Sure, you might not believe the non-religious comments, but that doesn’t mean you should put them down. 3: PEOPLE HAVE THEIR OWN OPINIONS. This ties in with what I just said, and I seriously can’t stress this enough. I’m not defending or condemning any commenters, but PEOPLE WILL STILL BELIEVE WHAT THEY BELIEVE. JUST RESPECT OTHERS’ OPINIONS. Just a little something I wanted to say. Thanks for reading! :p edit: didn’t realize my comment would actually start a discussion! anyway, my point still stands, pls don’t be rude to atheists or theists because that’s just stupid :)

Or getting arrogant thinkging of themselves that they are to intelligent to believe in a God. And me, as a believer, i see that they have a standpoint which offends God. I know that their chance of getting into heaven shrinks if they continue to live their ignorant lifes... so i often try to open their eyes. But they never understand, they say "i don't believe in fairytailes" offending God even more, putting God down as a fairytaile, as a joke. But still i never lose my patience, because anger is a tool of ghe devil and not in God's favor. I think we the believers must hold together, no matter if jew, christian or muslim. In the end those are all abrahamic religions who all praise the same God, they only refer to different books, which all came from God in different times to bring us down to the right path everytime faith faded away.

Even though they don't believe, I suspect that deep down, having no eternal truth and no connecting to a greater mystical body is unsettling.They can't or won't believe using logic, so the gut reaction is to lash out. I was an atheist for 40 years. I get it.

And when i pray and it doesnt happend i take it as a sign that sometimes what we think is right is not always the right thing. Or maybe it is a test because god cant hold our hands and take us through our life that is our responsibility, and god is here to guide us through life by putting us in tough situations and seeing how we can handle them, also all the people in our life everything happens for a reason. Thats what shapes us to be us. I am really saddened by the fact that while im alive here on this planet as a human being i will never see god. I truly am thankful for everything that i have my parents my siblings friends family everything, and deep inside of my heart i always feel some sort of presence i cant really explain it. Its there but at the same time it isnt. Its something our minds can not comprehend. Maybe its because we still havent grown to our full potential, that we still are not using 100% of our brain? I cant say for sure, but what i believe wholeheartedly is that we are gods children and that god will never give up on us while there is still at least 1 good person.

    • Christianity began as sun worship, the stories about Jesus are symbolic. He is just a personification of the sun, made into a god figure later on. The sun "dies" for 3 days on December 22nd, the winter solstice, when it stops its movement south, to be born again or resurrected on December 25th, when it resumes its movement north. In some areas, the calendar originally began in the constellation of Virgo, and the sun would therefore be "born of a Virgin" The sun rising in the morning is "the saviour of mankind" The sun is "The light of the World" The sun "walks on water" is just the reflection of the sun on water/the sea. "He cometh on clouds, and every eye shall see him", is just sun rays. Jesus' "crown of thorns" is just the sun's glare, also know as a halo. The sun's "followers", "helpers" or "disciples" are the 12 months and the 12 signs of the zodiac or constellations, through which the sun must pass. The sun at 12 noon is in the house or temple of the "Most High": thus.."he" begins "his Father's work" at "age" 12. The sun enters into each sign of the zodiac at 30 degrees, hense, the "Sun of God" begins his ministry at "age" 30. The sun is hung on a cross or "crucified", which represents its passing through the equinoxes. The vernal equinox being Easter, at which time it is then resurrected. The reason why saviour myths are so similar with a godman who is crucified and resurrected, who does miracles and has 12 disciples, is that these stories were based on the movements of the sun through the heavens, an astrotheological development that can be found throughout the planet, because the sun and the 12 zodiac signs can be observed around the globe. In other words, Jesus Christ and all the others upon whom this character is predicated are personifications of the sun, and the Gospel fable is merely a rehash of a mythological formula revolving around the movements of the sun through the heavens. ..

Highly doubt from an outsider's observing perspective that Jesus's followers in the 1st Century C.E. were really worshipping the Sun and turned him into a man only later on. Half of those lines require a lot of biased approval of your ideas to believe them. May as well say that about a lot of the other world religions too.

"The sun rising in the morning is "the saviour of mankind"".... convincing line? "The sun is "The light of the World" The sun "walks on water" is just the reflection of the sun on water/the sea. "He cometh on clouds, and every eye shall see him", is just sun rays. Jesus' "crown of thorns" is just the sun's glare, also know as a halo." ^All this aren't too believable by anyone else, and seem to be put there just to add extra lines. Crown of thorns is the Halo..... huh? "The sun is hung on a cross or "crucified", which represents its passing through the equinoxes." The funny bit about this is that real crucifixion in the 1st Century wouldn't have been on a cross as we think of it; which debunks this whole idea. If you go back in time, and actually saw Jesus's execution or that of anyone else in that century, it wouldn't have been on a cross. This is veriable, you can find evidence for what I've said. Over half of this requires the person reading to have little knowledge of history or take the specific things mentioned at face value.

    • @@Gamefan86 You deceive yourself. Yes, 12 is symbolic all through the bible. 12 tribes, 12 stones 12 disciples, oh and there is 12 notes in music. The symbol 12 came from God , not man. The sun was created by God actually Jesus. 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning-the first day. John 1:1-5 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. The word is another term for Jesus. You can make those correlations but that its more because of Jesus being real and they are a refection of him, not the other way around. Truth is If you look at the sun you can destroy your eyes. If you look to Jesus your eyes (mind) are opened. Anything that gets too close to the sun is destroyed whereas with Jesus you will have eternal life.. Actually Christianity is branched out from the Jewish faith. Jesus was of Jewish faith, He referred himself as the vine and hid followers the branches Most religions even acknowledge his existence. Jesus had lived, not is symbolic. God of the Jews is the God of the Christians. The Messiah is prophesied in the Old Testament/ Torah, written way before Jesus day. He fulfilled them all. The Jews will dispute that. Why would they dispute about a man being the long awaited Messiah if did not exist? No one has disputed his existence. The Jews could. It would be to there benefit of their faith. Do your research like Lee Strobel did.

A god with any kind of ETHICS would stridently object and not only prevent those acts but roundly punish those who participated in them. • Wow, this speech by John is undoubtedly one of his best! Such a unique blend of humility and brilliance, coupled with a common-sense approach. He's not just a scholar, but also a humble man of faith, and a great friend! 🙌🎩📚 #JohnLennox #InspiringSpeaker #HumbleAndBrilliant

    • So one "God" requires praying a certain number of times per day, while kneeling on a carpet and the other requires you to drink wine and bread at the right time. One requires women to be dressed "modestly" because men can't help themselves and the other has a pope and an intricate hierarchy of priests.Both happily kill the other in the name of their God. God bless "faith". @@sukwarsiemanym

    • Why a male figure? Is uour god limited by gender? Is there a female Al-Lat? I would have thought that a truly omnipotent god would exist in a realm beyond gender or human concept of form. This omnipotent god would know all and be beyond any simplistic reassurances of faith in the form of prayer, sacrifice or similar. Are you buying this beings favour with simplistic rituals? Really?@@Hasha-on1pq

  • Professor John Lennox is top on the list of Christian Apologists I listen to. He communicates the present and ultimate preeminence of Christ in the most personal way.

    • @Chase Williams John Lennox was a student of C S Lewis according to his statements. There is quite a number of other Christian Apologists like him. However, I have noticed that being a convinced Christian is deeper than logical defence of the gospel. For almost all the Apologists and other Christians, there's a personal experience that unfetters the heart and brings the divinity and finished work of Christ His love into an overwhelming comprehension.

    • @Chase Williams Hello it is now that you are asking this genuine question that I realise I have listened to many of them without necessarily following them. So each time I come across one and listen to them again I will share with you if it is okay. I wasn't born a Muslim but I am very familiar with the religion. My dad was one before he became a Christian. This guy is one of the Apologists I respect. kzhead.info/sun/gp2rk6qcrJeuZIk/bejne.html

    • @@olufemiadeleye9462I agree. Its amazing watching these men of God speak. I am truly at a loss for words. I recently stumbled across Mr. Lennox by accident from an interview with Mr. Kirk Cameron and after watching a lot of talks from Mr. Chuck Missler, I was looking for my new KZhead search. If you have any other recommendations for individuals who speak in a similar way, I'd be interested in learning more. God bless!!

  • In a world of evil, is it better that love be a possibility? or that it remain impossible? No matter what levels of evil we see; love still has the power to prevail. God Is love.

    • @Margie Smith How is it so that "I only see evil"? Are you speaking to an overall image you've had given to you? Also, if it were true, then Richard Dawkins would be right in that Hitler was just dancing to the rhythm of his own DNA. How could any of us have decided that he should be stopped? And then, which one is more right or more wrong? Hitler or stopping Hitler?

    • @Margie Smith Or stopping the 100 million+ slaughtered in the 20th century from anti theists rule dominating throughout? From abortion, to Death camps, Gulags, Killing fields, Communist China (1921) It comes down to an overall ethical issue. Your "right" and "wrong" isn't subjective as you wish.. Everyone is benevolent, until something happens to be annoying them.

    • So vague. Please elaborate. What are you referring to when you say “we murdered many of them”? Who/ when/ what event? In what sense was God “abolished” when that happened?

    • what about the millions of helpless children who suffer and die every year from starvation, dehydration, natural disasters, terminal illness, etc? apparently those children are not worthy of God's blessings according to his waistline, Professor Lennox seems to be eating very well... so I guess you could potentially say that your prayer was answered

There are thousands of Christians going to these countries to give foog and medicine and spread jesus name its getting better but we are to help and support our charities we have free will and we choose to help through gods grace

    • @@HoichiTheEarless if you want them to be blessed then go and help them. When Jesus ascended to the Father he left his Holy Spirit on earth so we could continue the work that Christ started on earth. When Christian aid workers go to help those in need they are showing love and care in the way that Jesus would and therefore blessing them. Love one another, take care of one another until Jesus comes back and he is coming back soon, that day will be the beginning of the end to all suffering.
