  • Sure, the sword I am sharpening today will be broken eventually; but the swordsmanship you are passing on to others will transcend through generations to come. Thanks my brother.

  • Even as a Judoka, this is very inspiring and emotional for me. As someone who has struggled all his life trying to find purpose, love, fulfillment, and dealing with an almost fatal depression, I have finally found something that makes sense to me in a world where I feel like an outsider.

  • I survived a massive heart attack last year that statistically most people don't. Returned to the mats two months later and every day back has been a blessing. Because of that experience, I sometimes feel like I'm on borrowed time. That some day, I'll have to pay the piper, fold up my gi, and put it away forever. Nic's sword analogy reminded me somberly of this bittersweet understanding. But it is a reality for another time... and not today.

  • In the statement about each of our craftsmanship of our art will one day break, and that our bodies - we know - will one day not be able to carry on... Part of that statement is crushing, but the other part is lifting. :) I am luck to be 17 and have a lifetime ahead of me with this art.

God bless you for making this video - now I can show my friends and family, and hopefully they can finally understand what drives me to train at the gym, and travel around the USA shooting IBJJF tournaments. Again, GOOD WORK!!!!

I feel honoured to clean the mats after rolling and blessed to be a part of the brotherhood as there are those who are not able to do the same....never give up. Respect.

  • As a martial arts practitioner I can exactly feel the bond which we share with other fighters. The bond we share, the brotherhood..shedding sweats n blood together is beyond words. For some martial arts may be a sport while for others it may be self defence techniques but anyone who is on this path knows that martial arts is beyond sports or self defence. It's a WAY OF LIFE which will continue till the END.I m honored to be follower of this path.
