Jodie Comer sounds uncannily like the woman she is playing in this movie. The amount of research that has been put into making this movie as authentic as possible is great. I can't wait for it. After reading about it's shooting and Jeff Nichols' interviews, I am sure it will be something special. The cast is stacked and they are playing real people, hence the "funny" accents.

People complaining about accents never been outside it seems, while I'm sure folks who are from there can debate the accuracy of it as depicted in this film, there was and still is a distinct accent among people raised in Chicago and its suburbs. It would be odd if they didn't even try and they all sounded like generic youtube personalities, particularly given the time period when regional accents were much stronger throughout America.

Maybe if you had seen any of Jeffs interviews you would know the whole point of the story is that Kathy and Johnny are fighting over Benny and he needed someone good looking enough to be that person that the audience would believe was worthy of fighting over, in his own words when he met Austin he gasped and thought he was the most beautiful man he had ever seen and cast him on the spot.
