So i guess they at least respect him as a fighter and an incredible badass even if they dont like him personally or some of the things he sais.

  • I was kinda doubtful about what Colby was saying until he mentioned Jorge's relationship with his mom. Jorge used to claim his Peruvian roots back when he was still friends with Colby. I remember because that's why I became a fan. Then he just stopped completely and now he's only a Cuban from Miami. His mom is Peruvian. His father was cuban. I also remember seeing a special where Jorge showed where he lived & gave stories of when he was growing up. From his stories, it sounds like his mom was the only one around and that's because his dad was in prison. Then when I saw him talking about his father inspiring to him, when he was talking at the Trump appearance. I was pretty surprised. I'm glad he was calling out socialism but at the same time he completely ignored his Peruvian part of his family. Peruvians have gone thru socialism themselves. They had a different taste of Hell than Cuba. They didn't starve or have that terrible of conditions. They went thru 2 decades of domestic terrorism & a broken economy left after the revolutionary of socialist authoritarian regime parished. It was actually Peru's socialist revolutionary that served as one of Hugo Chávez's inspirations. At that time Peru also had strong ties with the USSR too. The USSR stopped sending stuff in the 80s tho because they were going broke. Unlike Cuba, Peru still had a system that allowed for a hero like alberto Fujimori to come into power & literally save the country from becoming Venezuela. But Jorge never mentioned that. Anyone would mention both their parents' countries of origin in such context. He never mentions his mom at all now. He never talks about being Peruvian anymore. He used to have the flag on his shorts. That's why it kinda rings true to me that Masvial has changed in a bad way.
