The Dark Knight (2008)
Director: Christopher Nolan
Writers: Jonathan Nolan (screenplay), Christopher Nolan (screenplay), David S. Goyer (story)
Stars: Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart, Maggie Gyllenhaal
In preparation for his role as #TheJoker 🤡, #HeathLedger hid away in a motel room for about six weeks. During this extended stay of seclusion, Ledger delved deep into the psychology of the character. He devoted himself to developing The Joker's every tic, namely the voice and that sadistic-sounding laugh.

It's 95% accurate to the screenplay. But the little changes make it better.
Yeah, I was very surprised by that. It’s not common to stay that true to a screenplay. Just proves how good of a writer Christopher Nolan is.
"dent knew the risks" meanwhile in the script Joker is taking way more physical damage than he shows here.
I still find the death of Heath Ledger so very tragic! What a legend!!!!!!!
♥️😢
This scene is a masterpiece!
“You complete … ME” That little pause, right there… amazing. Signifies that even though he is on some seemingly sophisticated philosophical tangential, and even though he is talking about Batman, the only person that matters to the Joker, the one that only matters to him… is himself. Splendid performance.
good point
...OR...he was parodying JERRY MCGUIRE.
And that thing is the definition of absolutely one of best piece of art in film history.
Best scene of the film!! Such great philosophical content
Yes!! Now that's a scene worth reading 👏👏👏
Interesting how ledger basically ignored every cue in the script and just did it how he thought it should be and it was just perfect
‘ dent knew the risks’- oh thats cold.
2:28 Script: Batman drops the joker Bale: so he has chosen death
Heres another BAD JOKE: Its funny how "writing" misses to get its share of credits.
Welcome to the world of professional writing.
@@canaisyoung3601 As an actual writer, we don't give two single fucks about credits. All we care about is money and reputation. The world might not know who we are, but companies sure as hell do.
The script mentions the joker bleeding after many blows he takes from Wayne multiple times, I think its so much more effective that this never materialises on screen because it makes the Joker seem so much more inhuman and akin to a force of nature, which he kinda considers himself to be in this film
This interrogation scene and The Batman's interrogation scene have one thing in common: showing how corrupt Gotham is!
Without Ledger, the script reads more like a comic book. But now it’s more than that
Somehow i remember all this scene dialogues by heart...
Christopher Nolan masterpiece🙌
imo 2:51 is the take that got Ledger the Oscar (on top of his overall performance)
I like that tongue sticking
Jonathan and Christopher both wrote the screenplay for this movie.
This Joker vs Anton Chigurr... BOOK IT!
Takes the joker less than 3 minutes to turn the tables around completely 💯🍻
Videos like this really show you the talent in acting. Ledger really deserved that Oscar. MHSRIP

JUST NOTICED EYES DARTIN: "I know truth, no goin back, ya changed things" THAT'S ALLL JOKER, NOT HEATH..by that I mean even way Joker's eyes move was created by Heath and belong soley to character; Heath's eyes didn't dart around like that when speakin to someone.. Joker's DID. such a subtle addition easily missed being that EYE movement is DIFFERENT from facial expressions OR when camera PURPOSELY focuses on say an "eye twitch" of a character; think Pitt in 12 Monkeys, well acted but Pitt's eye twitch was an established "tell" to audience.. he's nutz. BUT Ledger's... eh . I've said enough... ANYWAYZ.. MY DAD always said "sign of a good film(maker) is upon repeated viewings one sees something NEW every time". ... Heath Ledger.. River Phoenix.. (opening to Indy 3? River killed it!! 👍🏻🤘🏻!) ...their talent is missed.
The Joker is the reflection of the ugly truth of the world..
He's not, though. Even the movie itself disproves his world view.
These Batman movies are always better than any of the other superhero movies
He said he would go after Rachel but went after Dent what was that 🤔
Joker knew he would go after Rachel so he gave Batman the opposite addresses
🤦♂
Interrogation Scene > Marvel
Get off the dick
