What blows my mind is that the majority of outfits in this movie still look good today it doesn’t come off as a time capsule lol
I agree. The silhouettes are timeless. I adore the revamped Chanel Suit because it modernized a classic Chanel ensemble.
I was very surprised that a majority of them are Chanel. I thought they would have included Cerrutti 1881 and maybe Ralph Lauren or Gianni Versace. But then, the producers had MASSIVE difficulty getting permission from big names like that to use their clothes because they were terrified of offending the real "Miranda": Anna Wintour. What's funny is Chanel's people seem to know her and said she knew they were just doing it for fun, so they allowed the producers to use many of their outfits. Makes me wonder what other brands are that close to her to be able to parody her personality. Note: source is from various websites and a documentary about the film. I've read the book too. I also like the author's other book "Everyone worth knowing." I'd love to see Anne Hathaway doing that. In the book, Bette quits her dreary job and joins a catering business that plans parties but it isn't at all what she was expecting. If they make that into a movie, I hope they ask Anne or at least Emily Blunt to do it. They're both good at playing stressed out characters, LOL...
Absolutely agree. Those styles are iconic for a reason :)
No it doesn’t 🙁
Absolutely, I love all the outfits in the movie and I'm still trying at least to emulate them here and there.
This movie is already 15 y.o, but its fashion still looks up to date
Classic fashion stands the test of time
no it does not, the outfits look terrible
@@JoaoFederle said literally *no one*
@@edmondjames7154 fantastic outfits never expire 😎
Fashion fades, style is eternal
I love the traffic scene where we see a montage of Andy’s outfits
that's my favorite scene in the movie :)
Vogue-ing on her way to work. My fave too.
Me too!
Me too! ❤
I love the two together at the end. Miranda laughs when she realizes that Andy had the courage to walk away from a position that was wrong for her and chase her own dream. Miranda was right about her - they were alike.
Her greatest mistake was getting back with her ex
@@nileverdeen3797 how so?
Wow, I never thought of it that way. 👍🏼👍🏼
@@nileverdeen3797 agreed
@@notaytguru8214 her ex is toxic af
In this movie, Emily Blunt is gorgeous.
Agree, she looks great with the auburn hair.
She's beautiful and fantastic in everything!
“In this movie”? She looks gorgeous in everything!
She's always gorgeous
Definitely one of my hollywood crushes
They should have done a top 10 list for Andy, Emily, Miranda and Nigel separately! Too many iconic looks
U said it
Contemporary films don't often get Oscar nominated for costume design. But this movie was, which shows how good a job Patricia Field did.
I had no idea Patricia did the costume design! It all makes sense.
@@lynseylou9669 I wish lightning struck twice for Emily in Paris. There are more French designers than Chanel, but I guess that was to show that Emily was basic.
@@reikun86 😫 please dont mention that god awful show
Patricia. Field.
Miranda had the most timeless and gorgeous outfits. They all look good even after 15 years later, and you see female execs wear similar clothing until now
I worked for Yigal Azrouel when this movie came out and everyone called us for that white coat. EVERYONE.
gorgeous right???
Lucky
I can see why.
Emily Blunt is to die for
That white coat with matching hat the Andy where is after her transformation is my fav!
I was JUST THINKING THISSSSSS ❤️
Miranda’s gray cashmere robe when she’s in Paris gift Fashion Week deserves a spot in the top 10. It shows that the truly chic are glamorous in private and added so much vulnerability to her character
“Who is that sad little person?” One of my favorite lines in the whole movie 🤣🤣
I’m glad that you guys got the point of her final outfit cause a lot of people don’t. The story is told through fashion, and her last outfit is a blend of the old Andy and the new Andy to make the true Andy.
The makeover reveal outfit is my favorite. Along with her bold bangs, the entire look makes such a statement. How does an assistant afford a whole new couture wardrobe?
The wardrobe budget was over 1M. Fav movie of all time.
If it’s all consider, every fashion on the movie is fabulous
Exactly
nah hate that green dress
The outfit Andy wears in france that she put together herself that Nigel compliments and the dress she wears the the MET gala
I love how her last Paris look parallels the Fontaines de la Concorde. My head cannon was that because the fountain represents the rivers, this was when Andy finally chose which path she would go in the future.
I love Andrea's outfit when she and Emily got called by Miranda, Andrea was about to leave and go home but Miranda told that both assistants should go to the benefits... Andrea wore a brown blouse with small white polka dots and green belt...So chic ❤
that was my absolute favourite too!
Oh yes! Love that too.
I still dream about those long thigh high boots!
Every outfit in the Vogue scene should've of been an honorable mention. Especially, the brown outfit.
That’s my fave too, I’d die to have the brown outfit!
Sometimes everything just works. The cast, the clothes, the script......perfection personified. BUT, Streep is a class act all by herself. 🌹
During the Madonna "Vogue" outfit montage, there is one outfit that we only see Andy in for the blink of an eye. It's a brown, leather dress that is, for my money, the best look of the entire movie.
yesss i was hoping it would come up in honourable mentions but it didn't :(
The one she's wearing when she arrived in Runway's office and opened the door, right?
I agree!
I was about to comment about it! It was a gorgeous, classy and timeless look 😍
That was my favorite one too! :D
Literally, every ensemble in this movie is ICONIC, not to mention timeless. I may suck at fashion, and I fail to keep up with the trends, but even with today's standards, these looks are still fashionable IMO. Edit: That being said, we need at least 4 separate videos - each dedicated to Andy, Emily, Miranda, and Nigel - to cover every iconic look from this movie.
Wow not even an honorable mention to the one she wore when celebrating Nigel’s new position when they were in Paris? Shame
I agree!!!
Ya n think of her statement layered look, it's funny
CHOICES!!!!!
Especially because it’s the first one she puts together herself rather than just wearing what she’s told to wear. Shows how far she’s come.
This top 10 is weird
From the moment I saw this movie in the theater to now 18 years later (!), my favorite was and still is Andy's turtleneck and jacket outfit at the end. Not only is it accessible and something I would wear, but it's such a perfect symbol of her character's development--a blend of her true self plus the good things she learned while at Runway.
Dishonorable Mention: James Holts exclusive red dress for Miranda Priestly. The giant bow looked like a design thought about by a child.
Lol, for realz. That one was awful
It looked like an outdated wannabe Valentino dress. Also didn't exactly tie the east meets west aesthetic he was going for.
"Catastrophe."
I’m “pursing my lips” right now
I read fanfics about this movie, most of the time they used Nigel not getting the job plot as aside from saving Miranda from getting fired but also saving Nigel from getting into something that will definitely fail in the long run. Your comment is the exact reason that it can be canon, James Holt is not really a great designer lol
this, & _Mean Girls_ must be two of the most quotable movies ever made.
That and Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
You forgot The Princess Bride! Inconceivable!
@@Stormy77 *you keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means!*
And Clueless! Ugh, as if!
I always loved the bold green jacket! It tops everything else, I think. 💚
Agreeeeeeeed
I love it too, but it's a coat, not a jacket. It bugged me when the narrator called it a jacket.
I can’t believe Andrea’s traveling ensemble when she arrives in Paris didn’t make the list. She looks so chic.
Because the mayor part of screen time for that outfit was cut in the final cut of the film :")
You missed the Paris date night dress...it is iconic...stunning...sharp
I thought it was really cute, and even Nigel was amazed that she came up with the look on her own.
Meryl Streep looks absolutely beautiful. I loved her hair and her role. A strong powerful woman in charge.
How about some designer credit? Emily wore a lot of Vivienne Westwood.
I just love how you included no. 5 in your list THAT was my favorite!
One of my FAVORITE MOVIES 😍. Miranda's burgundy and black shoes in the beginning were ❤️❤️
People change, things go wrong. Just remember life goes on
Outfits are still fab.
Loved Miranda’s Fendi jacket! I want that jacket so badly!
My two favourites are Andrea's dark green with black dress when she was in Paris and Miranda's eggplant dress that was quite simple. Both are elegant and deceptively simple, and not just anyone could pull them off.
More than a decade and these outfits are still better than what most are becoming trendy lately lol
I love the aesthetics of this film. But it's a little bit scary how people won't eat or run around to please their boss without being thanked.
And yet people think Miranda is an icon. She's smart don't get me wrong and a great career woman bUT BRUH SHES SO MEAN
Loved Nigel! I actually liked the look before the all white look. It was casual but classy.
Late to the party. Sorry. #1 pick, the Chanel jacket, exactly so. I also loved the ensemble that Andi "threw together" when she was with Nigel in Paris. Super chic.
Okay, but imagine Miranda Priestly, Olenna Tyrell and Tywin Lannister in the same room. I think that would be so cool.
Anne Hathaway is one pretty lady. ❤
The traffic montage outfits are divine! Especially the green one and the black dress with Andy’s bunned hair!
I absolutely LOVE all the outfits in this movie, so it's hard for me to choose favourites. I think this the time period suits my style most, not that they wouldn't be in style today.
YEEEEESSSSSS!!!!! The number one is the ONLY choice. You got it right!!! Those boots!!!! The blazer!!!! It’s like the transformation of a princess!!! I just adore this movie I know making this list was hard.
Never forget the CHANEL boots
I like the coat montage and the butterfly shirt & makeup in the replacing Emily day.
Andy’s bold green coat with the animal print on the cuffs!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Merry Christmas All and what a great movie for fashion. Stunning looks one and all❤️🎁🎄☃️🎉😍
Merry Christmas to msmojo and everyone out there May you have a safe and happy x-mas 🎀🎉🎄🎊🌲
Love that all white look she looks amazing in that outfit
The post Runway outfit Is the Best for me... I love It!
Emily's strong shoulder dress Andy, Miranda, and Emily's black dresses Andy's makeover reveal outfit
Merry Christmas Msmojo!
I love this movie. Meryl was gorgeous with that hair cut 💇♀️ and outfit. Miranda was so commanding in this movie I loved it. Anna Hathaway was gorgeous that makeover helped. Yes that 1st outfit on Andy was 🔥 🔥.
No. 5 and the All-white were my fav looks.
Miranda has the best clothes in the film
Fun movie. All were very good, but Emily Blunt was unforgettable.
I liked the plum dress and the two portrait neckline jackets in Paris.
My favorite movie EVERRRRRRRRRR!!! I can watch it over and over and over without getting tired of it.
I have watched this movie 20 times.
Yesss 🔥. I would’ve thrown a fit if you didn’t pick her Chanel outfit for #1 🤣🤣🤣.
My favorite is Andy Sachs' Chanel Street Chic outfit. 😍🥰 #5 Andy's Statement Layered Look 😄🧡💚💜❤️💙💛💖🛍️👛👜👗🧥
I loved Meryl's wardrobe!
Happy Holidays, MsMojo!
*so iconic*
very very great fun list I like it a lot great job mis mojo one of my very favorite list ever anything Andy wears is amazing and great
sorry but the opening scene has the most iconic outfits. it' s absolutely brilliant. still dreaming of it.
Merry Christmas 🎄🎁
Love this movie ❤
I can’t pick just one outfit because they were all fabulous!
Nice picks! Nice video!
Nope, missed my favourite which was the short dress Miranda approves of toward the end of the vogue scene.
It would have been nice to mention the brand/designers behind each look and accessories ! 🤔💭
I want to be a complete different version of myself. I step up my wardrobe.
❤❤winter white wrap coat and newsboy hat
Andi in the green looked like Anna wintor
The whole movie was iconic 😇😇😇
I can’t count how many times I’ve seen this movie but I own it and I love it! I have the book too.
I wanted to make my dad proud as if I have done that all of my life. I am happy to be my dad’s child, sweet child and daughter.
Everyone has their own look.
Hatway' s Channel tops any other outfit.
She's tall. I know I can't pull off those Chanel boots at my height.
11:24 was me in the 90's high school... my mother had me wearing stuff like this but without labels.
Emily is that special person, love her in everything.
15 years later and this movie continues to rock.
“Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months.” Oscar Wilde.
I love the fashion in this movie! ❤
Love this film!!
Omg.
Someone watches moderngurlz and clever and chic
This is making my whole life , n having me change my wardrobe 😂😂😂hours and hours to prepare
I liked the outfit with the Chanel boots as the all black outfit she wore after her makeover.
These people over power the devil by doing all this title on call the devil outfit I think, that's the cause of all the trouble to people's lives.
Wut lol
WHAT??
Lmao Judith please go to bed. You are making very little sense.
Nate's still the worst
I didn't like him, but I also thought that Christian was too oily for Andy.
I love color on other people but personally I mostly just wear black. It's timeless and there's so many fun things you can do with it like accent it with metals (golds, silvers, coppers) add intrigue (with deep reds, or blues or mustard yellows), dramatic contrast to make a statement (white!) Or double down with more black (lace, leather, fabric texture) I love it
I need this year to be my year.
