What Bitcoin started is metamorphosing into something bigger: a blockchain driven economy with its own value creation, not unlike the Web’s own economy. With the Web, we had e-commerce, e-business, e-services, e-markets, and later the social web arrived with social networks. Soon, we will see a number of emerging businesses that will run on blockchains, and they will create value that didn’t exist before.
Money as we know it, and as we earn it, will have competition from cryptocurrency and tokens, as exciting alternatives. At the heart of this evolution, a new system of work is unraveling, one where workers earn and generate economic value while getting compensated inside circular economies that have their own currency and work units. William Mougayar will take you on a journey to discover the Blockchain Economy, an inescapable consequence of the blockchain’s entry in our lives and work.
As a long time industry insider, William Mougayar is a prolific researcher, writer and theorist who has been described as the most sophisticated blockchain business thinker. His views and insights are well respected worldwide.
William is a direct participant in the crypto-technology market, working alongside startups, entrepreneurs, pioneers, leaders, innovators, creators, enterprise executives and practitioners; in addition to being an investor, advisor, and Board member in some of the leading organizations in this space.
William is the General Partner at Virtual Capital Ventures, an early stage venture capital fund, and currently on the Board of Directors of OB1, the OpenBazaar open source protocol that is pioneering decentralized peer-to-peer commerce, a Board Advisor to the Ethereum Foundation, a member of OMERS Ventures Board of Advisors, an Advisory Board member to the Coin Center and Bloq, and founder of Startup Management.
Previously, he held senior level positions at Hewlett-Packard, Cognizant and AberdeenGroup, and he founded 3 startups, CYBERManagement, Eqentia, and Engagio.
William is a graduate of the University of Washington, the University of Western Ontario Ivey School of Business, and attended the University of British Columbia Graduate Commerce School.

  • Yes i think Mr M is correct in his predictions. It'll be interesting to see which crypto comes out on top. Given that a currency is a tradable assets that represents the perceived value of its economy, surely the most resourceful of economies - those that take under employed resources and up-cycle them into experiences that money can't buy - will come out on top?

  • My question is - How you centralised decentralised economy with technology of blockchain? Does computing processing for managing data cryptocurrency come from each personnal computer of peer-to-peer for doing commerce? Or, from centralised computing center of an X company from where each peers has to subscribe to get the service, but then do we still call this decentralized commerce in practical?

  • how we can use and exchange so many currencies? and use them to buy real thing like food? So many currencies is hard too know what are good currencies that have real value.

    @OscarMarquez@OscarMarquez6 жыл бұрын
    • EVERY crypto currency has value. You find the exchange houses which are getting larger and larger who already has a market for what you have and others want. Imagine a crypto eBay. Simple.

    • It's early days. What we will see is bitcoin become asset class like gold. That will store value. But that leaves the market wide open for other coins to be used like cash - not traceable or stalked around the internet by fb etc. One promising one is Monero.

    • Not your attention but the things you publish that gets attention from other people. For example, number of views on your news or on your video you created, a little bit like youtube where creators get money for number of views and subscriptions they get.

      @MrStarmat@MrStarmat6 жыл бұрын
    • You just didn't get it, friend. Your mind is not ready for revolution. That is exactly my attention and attention of others that use the internet, and look at ads, and buy stuff online, and keep e-commerce going. Where do you think big corporations get their money from? Most of this "fuel" is the regular user that never even uploaded a single video. Just think about it. Have a nice day.

    • You cannot be an absolute consumer. You have to produce something to interact with the system, even if it's a "like". Steemit pays you for them. But I am guessing pretty soon we are going to go beyond that. Till then watch Andreas Antonopoulos speak on youtube, if you really want to learn.

      @satavip@satavip6 жыл бұрын
    • The notion of absolute is merely theoretical and only for theoretical purposes. There's nothing absolute in nature. Thank you for advice.

  • Disappointing TedX conference, not concrete (how blockchain will cut off all intermediaries, it would be great to have examples of blockchain technology allowing to avoid Uber as he said) and not taking account the current situation (cryptocurrency is right now not a viable solution, what needs to be done?) Blockchain will certainly play a pivotal role in the future of our societies, but this conference is just too superficial and shows nothing but some vague ideas. Execution is key, and here there is nothing related to how to execute the blockchain technology properly to change the statu quo.
