  • Regardless that sometimes you get insta-headshotted, the habit of a patient, good tap is needed. A few ways to avoid getting one-tapped: don't peek into an angle when that obviously not smurfing Jett has info that you are there. Stop taking fair fights. Flank, lurk, or use flash or stun abilities to avoid fair fights. There you go, now you will be headshotted 7/10 times instead of 9. Remember, slow is smooth, and smooth is fast.

    • Slow is smooth and smooth is fast refers to a training mantra for static targets especially. You can flick really fast but then you will most likely need to correct on smaller targets which takes time. So going slow, but smooth from target to target might actually be faster --> smooth is fast

    • @@clements41 'slow is smooth, and smooth is fast' is a mindset in the military. basically, just doing something fast, especially when still learning a skill, leaves a lot of room for mistakes. in combat scenarios, best case scenario, it means repeat, but most likely, mistakes mean death. if you take your time and do it correct, the risk of failing decreases significantly. if the skill has been honed with enough practice, it will automatically speed up over time and be indistinguishable from being fast.

  • Something that helped me a ton is setting 'Network Buffering' to Maximum in settings. Before that, enemies would one-tap me like a nanosecond after I see them, even when they weren't holding the angle. My theory is that this happens because the server predicts your movements to lower ping players, allowing them to see you before you even peek. If you read the technical blog posts Riot puts out, this is how the server deals with players of different latencies, by predicting movement. This is also why sometimes you shoot enemies point blank but the bullets don't register any damage. Setting Network Buffering to maximum seems to give me a bit more time to kill enemies and have fairer fights. Keep in mind this only works if your ping is not too low or too high, (mine's around 50ms)

      @paulroy2645@paulroy26455 ай бұрын
    • @@paulroy2645 It works by giving you like one more second to aim and kill enemies, before their shots kill you. At least, that's what it feels like. The downside is that the one second delay will affect your gameplay at other times too, making it feel a tiny bit laggy. Honestly, this trick only works at certain ping ranges and I've had mixed results with it over time. I've stopped using it personally coz I'd rather get one-tapped than deal with the minor delay. Your results may vary :)

  • Great video… a good tip that’s hard to make a habit but works 90% of the time is when an enemy swings you while you are holding them, don’t just shoot, they swing, YOU swing wider, THEN you shoot… sometimes you will get one tapped, but it’s the same for when YOU one tap people, it was just a nice shot, and everybody will hit them here and there. Don’t sweat it if someone keeps one tapping you all game, they simply had a great game and I promise they don’t play that well every game.

    @oVividz@oVividz11 ай бұрын
    • Yeah, I think either moving with them or shooting a 2 bullet burst quickly and then insta moving are both good strategies. If you're able to move when they stop to shoot, you have good chances of winning the duel.

However, next time could you also recreate it with the improvements you are talking about? i.e. in this example, you would recreate it except instead of trying to flick, you instead try to keep moving, so it's easier to visualize what you are talking about

    @Chocohalation@Chocohalation11 ай бұрын
    • Yeah, good point. I should have implemented a pov of the fix too. The fix would look very similar to the opponents POV. Essentially whoever stops first to shoot will have the "disadvantage" because of taking a harder shot. Of course if you hit that shot, then you win, so it's a tradeoff. I explain this in detail in my video on the SVS advantage: kzhead.info/sun/hcigj8mkj4J7a58/bejne.html

    @idiotnumbnuts8486@idiotnumbnuts84868 ай бұрын
    • Cope. Sometimes, you lose. That's fine. As long as you're taking gunfights properly, you will win gunfights more often. This actually starts working less in higher ranks because those guys can actually shoot. That's why in Radiant and high immortal, you'll see players try not to take dry fights because EVERYONE clicks heads. They are also faster aimers, meaning that they can recognize whether or not they're accurate quicker than players in low immortal/asc and below. Watch Woohoojin's "Bronze to Gold" guide where he talks about taking gunfights properly. You HAVE to take it slow in lower ranks, and as long as you're consistent, you'll get faster at aiming.

    • I'm german, yeah :D Well, could be different reasons.. if you focus too much on movement but then don't hit your shots, it's a problem too. There needs to be balance in your mechanics. Could also be that you strafe, but always the same pattern and same rythm. Varying your rythm by sometimes strafing long and sometimes short can really throw opponents off.

  • I try this. Practiced on the dummies. Starting to get this down. Then I went into death match. Problem is even when moving, if I get hit by the bullet, my character pretty much grinds to a halt and then I get destroyed.

  • Question for you: I have always preferred the vandal over the phantom but now I am 100% focused on maining a smoker i.e.: Brimstone. My question for you, if you may...I noticed in all your clips that your 2 bullet "burst" you were using the vandal and that makes a lot of sense but if I'm switching to the phantom which I have always researched is more of a land your shot then crotch spray type of gun. Would you recommend this same technique with the phantom? Thanks

    • Phantom isn’t used to crouch spray, you can still do bullet bursts. Also, with the recent mag nerfs, you could just go vandal now, since spamming through smokes is harder

  • Was watching some of your videos and love the advice, but got a bit confused when you were stressing the importance of overflicking. Is the goal ultimately to try and not overflick as much by improving your microflicking so that you won't have to compensate as much through movement?

    @owenko7101@owenko710111 ай бұрын
    • The overflicking exercise is just there to get a feeling for moving longer and taking your time to aim. By overflicking you have more space to sort of "move" the crosshair onto target. In an actual game you still need fast flicks and adjustments and overflicking on purpose is not such a big thing. You can do it if you know that you want to do a long strafe because then it helps you to positions the crosshair a bit further left/right than usual.

  • In CS, and the same applies to valorant I'm sure, the pro's have always said "If you take more than .5 seconds to kill your target, you're already dead". I'm 43, and in these "instant ttk" games (CS, Val, anything with 1-shot headshots) the .5 seconds or death has been pretty spot on over the decades unless you're playing bots.

  • Do you still try to continue moving if you get shot first? Im new and I absolutely hate how you lose all momentum if you get shot once. I’d understand if it was an actual mechanic to where if you got shot in the leg or the big toe, you’d limp or be crippled (it’d be a tactic at that point), but getting shot in the arm when I’m going around a corner then just getting stun locked and absolutely merked because you can basically shoot through every wall in this game is ridiculous. I’m sorry for the rant.. But do you continue to try and strafe if a stray bullet hits you first?

  • Mostly it is for me the fact that I get one tapped before I see the enemy. It is not like I have the time to react but I am too slow, but more getting run and gunned with a headshot consisently. They just peek and hit a headshot without me seeing them before I am dead, might be a skill issue, but happens.

    @chris26462@chris2646211 ай бұрын
    • This most likely happens because you are holding default angles. If you are standing in a common spot and they pre-aim you and strafe out, you are always at a disadvantage because they are more ready for the fight than you are. Resulting in you getting one-tapped. Either - hold off angles (search for it on youtube) - or peek and un-peek the common angle to get a timing of strafing into the opponent yourself who just cleared your spot and now thinks you're not there (there's also tutorials for that)
