  • These facts that Dr Finkelstein brings up about Israeli society are totally true. I visited Israel back in 2003 and spent a lot of time in the West Bank. It was truly an apartheid society. Palestinians and Israelis on the West Bank bank lived in completely different areas. Palestinians could only travel on certain roads and walk on certain streets. Otherwise, they would be arrested. Israelis treated the Palestinians like dirt. It reminded me of how blacks were treated in the Old South. It was disturbing and things have gotten a lot worse since then!

    • I was in Israel once and I noticed something. I could talk to Palestinians and they would joke and respond like normal human beings. But with Jews, they were cold, wouldn't even look into your eyes. A lot od Jews really look like they have a superiority complex. It is very disturbing to realize that Nazis had the same complex. Maybe that's why the historical clash between them had to happen.

Because today it looks like anything or anyone a Zionist Jew like you doesn't like he will call anti-Semitic. And at this point we all know it's just a tactic to silence people. So, maybe you are anti-Semitic yourself, since you are the one bringing hatred upon Jews by consolidating stereotypes about Jews. And because it is obvious that you don't like Palestinians too much who are probably more Semitic than you, by the way.

    • @@edmundmcgrath213 Absolutely. Germans were portrayed as evil racists who hated the Jews all the time, but I dont believe they thought Jews were lesser beings, just the opposite. They knew about their superiority complex and how they treat non-Jews (Germans included) whom they have always called the Goyim, no matter what non-Jewish nationality. Maybe Israeli hatred against Palestinians is a reflection of that racial superiority complex.

Only 3.2% think the IDF is using too much force. The whole population of Israel agrees with what Netanyahu is doing! "It's a lunatic state and a lunatic society." • So what are you implying then? You say all this but what are you trying to say? Because whenever I’ve come across people saying this, they inevitably just admit that Hamas or palestinians should enforce collective punishment on Israeli civilians, and then some not so subtle people will go into antisemitic territory. I’m kinda hesitant to say “so what is your solution” to this though.

      @ottz2506@ottz250612 күн бұрын
    • The October 7th attack is the product of what happens when 2 million people are oppressed by Zionists who treat them as animals on their own territory. The attack, while horrific, is largely due to hamas perceiving that extreme action is needed to stop the horrific conditions within Gaza. Of course they would feel anger towards the Israelis, who enforced the blockade of supplies into gaza and brutal police / idf arrests with gaza. Hatred of this has twisted and radicalised them against Israel, and since Israel is the self-proclaimed standard for Judaism, they want extreme retaliation against all Jews. I do disagree with the extremist tendencies of my religion, but you can never de-link cause and effect. Israel has enforced an overly harsh, delegitimising campaign against Palestine since its inception, and it is acting shocked that there is vehement opposition to it from Palestinians.

      @zp9037@zp903711 күн бұрын
    • A more direct reply to your question is that the actions against Israel are horrific, and it should not have happened, but it stems from the authoritarian regime of Israel. I hope that Israelis realise that acting more compassionately and striving for greater peace is their true road to safety, and that excessive policing and brute force will not. It is sadly much less likely in the wake of Hamas's attack and the indoctrination that all Muslims are hateful and murderous. I fear for the future state of the world if we cannot resolve these tensions.

      @zp9037@zp903711 күн бұрын
    • I am German married to an Israeli and living in Israel for 15 years. I can say that it's a very distorted picture that is drawn here. Some facts: 1. it's definitely not a majority of Israelis that have a Jewish Supremacy mindset.:The right-wind extremists of HaTsiyunut HaDatit received about 11% of the votes. 2. Netanyahu's Likud received 23%. Together with the Ultraorthodox parties they form a coalition that got 64 of 120 (i.e., 53%) of the seats in the Knesset. Since then, the government has initiated a number of legislative moves that undermine democracy and deprive the High Court of much of its power, and hundreds of thousands of people (including myself) had been protesting in the whole country every week. Netanyahu (and Ben Gvir and Smotrich) are very very unpopular with this part of the population, and polls have shown that the protesters were forming a majority. Jet pilots were threatening to refuse to continue their military service should the Fascist government continue it policies. The society as a whole was deeply divided. It's actually a very racist thing to say that the society on the whole is lunatic if there is a large group of sane on the verge of becoming the majority 3.That was prior to October 7th. That day, Hamas terrorists conducted a genocidal terror attack, killing 1200 people, putting babies into ovens, cutting open pregnant mother's bellies, beheaded parents in front of their children and many more atrocities. They didn't ask if the people they killed had a mindset of Jewish supremacy or if they supported Netanyahu. In fact the border region next to the Gaza strip mainly consists of Kibbutzes that mainly have a left-wing population, many of them peace activists (before that day). It is a national trauma. It is not surprising at all that 95% of Jewish Israelis supported the war in the beginning. I would rather be surprised if it was ONLY 95%. Until today, the statement that Hamas has to be destroyed is one of the rare cases where you have consensus among almost all Israelis. You would have the same reaction in any other country that was attacked this way. Today, 7 months after the attacks, without being close to a release of the hostages, or to the destruction of Hamas, people are back on the streets demonstrating against the government, calling for a hostage deal at the price of stopping the war, and for new elections. I think they don't deserve to be demonized the way it happens in this and other videos. There are ways of criticizing Israel without being anti-Semitic. Unfortunately, this video is.

It's tempting to paint all of Israel with the same stroke but it wouldn't be true. Also, note that the outlying 3% are opposing the amount of firepower. • @@claygorovoy5467 Will Durant made your point a century ago. In fact, the leadership (horrific as it is) is usually better than most of the people. It's a scary thought, and we want to deny it. But the like of Netanyahu or a Bush, give bad people an excuse to give vent to the worst in themselves.

  • I wish Norman would discuss a few things. Peaceful camps demonstrations described as riotous when armed policemen wearing body armor drag off protesters, and when snipers are positioned atop buildings. Congress seemingly attempying to pass laws to make it illegal to criticize Israel. And Netsnyahu, who claims Israel represents world Jewry, this occurs in the face of an actual telivised genocide, and Netanyahu speaking out against US campus protests. It's getting surreal.
