Genus: Chamaeleo
This video is about baby veiled chameleons born between 3-5.06.2015. There were 19 newborn chameleons but in this video you can see only 2 of them, the eldest ones. One of them is eating for the first time and the second one is just climbing and observing. You can see all of them in my channel, there are many videos about them.
When they hatched I put them to the terrarium (40 x 30 x 60 - length x width x height). First day I tried to feed them but it was too soon. The next day I tried to gave them small crickets with cut off jumping legs (this video). They were slow and not sure but after a while one of them caught the cricket and ate it. It's kinda big (small cricket) for a newborn chameleon so I bought 7 boxes of fruit flies. There were several hundreds of them and then I fed them on micro crickets and then smaller crickets. After a month I was giving them small flies, small grasshoppers and small butterflies, also mid size cricket, but not so often. They have been growing up really quickly. When they were 2 months old they were able to eat adult crickets (Acheta domestica). They also ate cockroaches (Shelfordella tartara) and big flies, earwigs, small worms (Tenebrio molitor), all size grasshoppers from meadows. They were able to eat up to 200 mid size crickets per day, maybe more. For the first month I was feeding them 3 times a day. Then sometimes 3 times a day but mostly 2 times a day, now then they are 3 months old I feed them 1 time a day, sometimes 2 times. One of them is able to eat 10-20 adult crickets a day but I give them like 10 crickets a day. Once a week I use the Reptivite with D3 and almost every day I cover their food in calcium. It's called biomin H, I bought it in pharmacy, it's suitable for people too.
Now they live in terrarium made of OSB boards and metal netting. Its sizes are 60 x 50 x 120 (length x width x height). They have 2 bulbs (25W, energy rating E - not enough light, intense heat - up to 34°C), 1 lamp (70W flood 45°C angle, very strong one with UVA and UVB, 30 cm above the terrarium) and 1 fluorescent tube (Narva biovital - very strong full spectrum light). They have many willow branches, 4 different plants (Schefflera, Scindapsus, Dracaena braunii probably and some other one that I do not know). I have made some ladders for climbing on. There is no substrate in their terrarium, I use only paper towels, it's easy to clean and they won't eat it. I used to have peat but they ate it sometimes.
If you want to ask me some question about them (breeding, mating, feeding) I can answer and help you. I know a lot especially about tarantulas (Theraphosidae) but I also know about Veiled chameleons.
Music was composed by me using my digital stage piano Yamaha NP-V80 and I composed this song in Magix Music Maker. I own rights to any music or shots.
Hope you enjoyed the video and if you want, you can find more in my channel. There are videos especially about tarantula (Theraphosidae) but also about chameleons, mantises, stick insects and so on.
Thank you for watching the video and reading my video description.
