In this video I show in detail how to remove a valve cover, change the camshaft sensors and the vvt solenoid/actuators. I also replace the throttle body on this vehicle. The customer ran the vehicle low of oil and created a few different problems. The vehicle in the video is a 2016 Chevy Cruze with the ECOTECH 1.4L Turbocharged engine.
Guy’s help me get to 20k subscribers! I have so many awesome videos coming.

Thank you Terence. I’m far from a mechanic and can’t diagnose a problem for shit. But by golly I love tools and I can change parts all day long with a little guidance! You did great explaining everything so perfectly we didn’t even need that “special” injector tool. It’s called a pry bar baby! Anyhow, I can’t thank you enough. For my sake please post every repair you make to that 16 Cruze please. You the man 🤙🏼
You're very welcome. I will post every repair for it. Got some work coming up soon with it. Thanks for watching.
Terence, I just want to say to you, THANK YOU FOR HOW YOU EXPLAIN EXACTLY WHAT YOUR DOING, ALONG WITH THE DETAILS THAT YOU POINT OUT IN EVERY SINGLE VIDEO YOU HELP US WITH!!! That's from the most sincerest part of my heart bro!!! I really get bother when someone just rambles about everything but what they are doing!!! I have no issues watching your videos from the very start to the very end, without skipping any parts!!! Again I thank you!!!!
You're very welcome Jason. Thank you for the kind words and thank you so much for watching my content. It means a lot to me as I put lots of effort into these videos. I am happy my video was able to help you diagnose a problem on a different vehicle. Once again, thank you SO much for watching.
Thanks for the great video. I’ll be pulling the valve cover off today to remove the broken parts from the vacuum pump. Same problem on this car. Lack of oil changes. I appreciate your help!
You are a truly talented mechanic. Thank you for posting this.
Thank you SOOO much. I really appreciate the acknowledgment and you watching my content.
Great video!!! I have a 2018 Cruze (same engine as video) and this video is super helpful. One thing I've learned with these small engine, hot running turbos "CHANGE THE OIL" when in doubt, change it. By the way, my oil light didn't come on either...Strange...
You are 100 percent correct! Changing the oil is critical in these vehicles. Thank you SO much for watching.
THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH!!!! This is EXACTLY what's wrong with my 2019 Equinox. I let someone talk me into not changing the oil on time because they didn't want me to do it myself. Someone reset my oil life sensor when I had my tires serviced. 🤦🏽♀️ Oil issues will mess this engine up BADLY.
You are absolutely correct! Running those engines low of oil will cause a plethora of problems! Thank you VERY much for watching.
Please keep doing what you're doing. I've been certified for 17 years and I love what I do. I forget a few things here and there, but your work confirms my thoughts when I question things. You're TOTALLY appreciated! 💙
Thank you and once again thanks for watching.
Damn this, video was very thorough and gave more explanation and detail as to what needs to be done or what to look for. I'm getting a P1101 (Intake Air Flow System Performance), P0014 (Exhaust Camshaft Position System Performance), P06DE (Engine Oil Pressure Control Solenoid Valve Stuck on) NOTE: My one tip would be to list the codes in the title as well. I've been looking for this exact video, but I've been searching for car name and the codes. Outside of that, this video was PERFECT 🤝🔥
I apologize for not having the codes in the title or thumb nail. I will take note of that for future videos. Thank you SO much for watching.
Thank you so much for this video. As an owner of a 2017 Cruze RS, there aren't any good videos on these vehicles. This was awesome, very detailed, you'd give a novice the confidence to DIY!!!! Insta-sub keep the hit coming!!!!
You're very welcome. Thank YOU for watching.
Glad to see you got a scanner
I watched this video and you helped me fix a huge headache I have had for a couple months now!!! It was my 2005 scion tc, in which I found out all along it was the camshaft position sensor, in which it is mounted on top left of the valve cover, right in my face all this time, and I don't know why I refused to check it, but I done everything else from cleaning maff sensor, to cleaning throttle body, to changing fuel pump and everything else I could think of!!! As soon as I pulled the plug off the sensor I found the issue.... One of the wires was halfway out the plug connector with harness wrap from the factory hiding the fact!!! Pushed the wire back into the connector after using a very small flathead screwdriver by bending the little catch thing on the wire connector that holds the wire inside the plug!!! I plugged it back up and immediately started the engine and now it's fixed!!! Apparently the factory did this by mistake when it was put together, and all this time from the engine compartment going from cold to hot would make the wiring harness more flexible over time and the wire was intermittently making and loosing connection!!!!
Thanks you men for this video, watching you from Russia, your experience really help me
Thank you very much. I am glad my video helped you. Thanks for watching!
Very thorough and detailed job. Great knowledge tks
Keep up the good work and mote videos coming.well done

Great job very informative!!!

You're very welcome. Thank you so much for watching.
I could've used this video over the weekend...i have a 2018 malibu and the vacuum pump shattered. i replaced it and it was a bit shaky, took it to a shop and they said the camshaft twisted...not sure what that means but my bill is $2000...thanks for the video, stay blessed
I know exactly what happened. That's pricey for the fix however, as long as they do a good job, you should be fine. Thank you SO much for watching.
It turns out that the reluctor wheel had twisted, not lining up with the QR code and the camshaft had to be replaced. Some special tools needed to complete the job and they got the job done. Malibu is running great
It's a common issue with these engines. I am glad you got it fixed.
Great video!!! thank you sir!
You're very welcome. Thank YOU for watching.
Thanks for video bro
You're very welcome. Thank YOU for watching.
Replacing the PCV cover on my 2013 Cruze was easy. I've got a vacuum leak coming from the pcv cover on my 2020 Malibu, and the vacuum test showed it was coming from the black circle seal. I thought it would be simple to remove, but looks like it's time consuming and tedious. I'll have my mechanic take care of it.
Thanks for video!
Thank you and thanks for watching.
I am finally getting this thing back together after finding that Brake vacuum pump.. GM has a class action lawsuit for them.. I am happy you was up close and personal with everything, I could not remember where some of the bolts went, had someone helping me and well we got them mixed up and the markers came off.. happens.... but i am almost done, get all the electrical back up... got oil to change and add coolant.. but man this was a hell of a job, i dont want to do again for awhile.
@@TerenceDIY ps or glue worked very well
@@CrazieFrogz , let me know how it turned out.
@@TerenceDIY So thankful. Lord its back together...we drove it for an hour and it made it there and back.. Seems like its doing good. Its Quiet . driving good. Needs tires & new wipers. But its rpms are good & the temperature gage is staying at a good normal...
same exact thing happened to mine thanks
You're very welcome. Thanks for watching.
Wonderful helpful much needed vid thank you sir was worth it!! 🙏🏼

Good job
Thank you and thanks for watching.
I have 1.4T that smokes like no tommorrow on idle. Cleaned injectors inside and out, new plugs, coils. Cleaned MAF, filters, oils etc usual stuff. Also replaced the two external PCV valves. Runs great (especially after clening the gunky injectors) and has plenty of power and doesn't eat oil. City MPG on the bit poorer side, can't figure out whats causing it to smoke so much. I read there's a PCV orifice built in the valve cover that goes to the intake manifold - it could be blocked but even then the excess pressure should be venting thru the other PCV valves...
Sounds like bad rings or worn valve seals. Most likely is the latter. How many miles?
@@TerenceDIY thanks. Around 60k miles. Whatabout turbo seals? Tho the smoke is white/grey and smells more like gasoline than oil.
@@omiq7761 , that's very low miles for the valve seals to be bad unless the engine was ran hard. The turbo can also cause your condition. You need to check the seals thouroughly or replace them. If you're smelling gas and not oil or a sweet smell that would be caused by a head gasket, I would definitely check into the turbo. I have seen faulty turbos cause that same smoking issue despite working properly.
Have now oil pressure probable allowed the cam chain tensioner to loosen up causing the chain to jump timing
I find it so crazy how were all having this same problem, I just don’t know what to do at this point, so replace all the solenoids and sensors and check engine light is still on so I pulled the camshaft sensor out just so I can use the vehicle without it shutting off
What trouble codes are you getting? I can check the software for other solutions. Thanks,
@38:50 you talk about the seal with the vacuum pump. Mine got pretty beat up on the inside. I'm with you & want to change it out so it don't leak. Do you have a part number or easier way of finding it? The brake vacuum pump broke & yes off into there.. Fishing it all out now.

Thanks for the informative video man. My cruze needs pcv valve replacement. Do I need to replace the valve cover for that or just the pcv valve. I could not locate the pcv valve. Would really appreciate any help. Thanks.
You do not have to replace the valve cover and the gasket is reusable. I would just use the gasket maker around the intake so that you get a leak free seal. How do you know the pcv valve is bad? Thanks,
@@TerenceDIY because they are 2 pcv valves . One in the valve cover and the intake . By removing the oil cap these cars are notorious to pull vacuum alot and bust oil seals.
Pcv system on most ecotec engine with a plastic valve cover, pcv system is built in. Whole valve cover needs to be replaced.
bro by any chance do you know how to take off the PCV Valve Bolt on 2016 Malibu 1.5L i can't seem to find a socket or screw to remove it
Thanks for the video! Do you need to remove the valve cover to change the PCV valve? Thank you
Nope.
You heard the sound of that motor and didn’t immediate check the oil first? Nuts
See how you pointed out the vacuum pump seal that circle one does it leak oil if it’s bad ? Cause Rn I’m getting soil for that exact spot on 2017 Cruze
Yes, it will absolutely leak oil if that gasket is worn.
Great Video, I have a 2016 malibu LT, any clue about P06DB (Engine OIl Pressure control solenoid valve control circuit Low Voltage)?
Possible bad oil control valve? How many miles? When was the last time you had the oil changed (filter too)? There's a similarity with the oil control valve as the VVT solenoid. Prolonged oil changes affects both. Please let me know. Thanks, Terence
@@TerenceDIY I hasn’t been that long since I’ve changed the oil, and I had just changed the oil after changing the solenoid in the oil pan at the bottom for code p06DD and it gave me the 2 other codes, saying it’s low circuit voltage. 94k miles and vvt’s have been changed, and everything possible has been done! Took it to many mechanics no benefit
@@Mobiletouchexpressdetailing, I'm sorry. I wish I were there to help.
For the reluctor does the fam shaft have to be facing the same way you had it with the barcode ? And when I put the vacuum pump back do I need it in between those will I know when I push it in it locks into it lol I’m just scared now I don’t wanna mess up the camshaft sorry for all the questions
Yes, it has to be facing the barcode. I show everything in detail. Installing the vaccum pump will not affect the position of the reluctor if that's what you are trying to say. NOTE; Although I show everything in detail, I am not there to guide you so you're doing this job at your own risk. Thanks,
Hello, first off, thanks for the informative video. I know this video is a couple years old at this point but I am hoping you may still see the comments and respond. At 16:29, could you possibly explain how you disconnect that? It looks like you've just got a small flat head but I can't tell exactly what you've done to release the hose. It doesn't look overly complicated but I was hoping for some clarification before I got to work on this job. Valve cover gasket is done for on my gen 2 Cruze, and the cheapest quote I can get around me is 750 dollars and that guy can't work on it for another month... or I can spend 900 to get it done now. I figured I would look to find a video (like yours) but jeez it took forever to actually find one. Tons of videos on the gen 1 Cruze but hardly anything on the newer models so I appreciate it.
Yep, I used a small flat head screw driver to release that hose (pretty straight forward). I should have gotten a more closer shot on that part as I try to make my videos of the highest quality. I apologize for that. Also, you are correct, this is probably the most detail video regarding the motor of the Gen 2 Cruze on KZhead as well as the other videos I have on this particular vehicle.
@@TerenceDIY Thank you very much! I figured as much but I just wanted to make sure there wasn't something I would be missing. Again, thanks for the great videos on the Cruze, I'll be replacing my valve cover gasket this week once they arrive in the mail and this video is the only reason I feel confident in doing it.
You're very welcome. Thank YOU again for watching.
You have to mix coolant 50 to 50 with water for it to work properly unless you. Buy it pre-mixed
attempteed to take it apart today but i think my valve cover has some sealant that wont allow me to get it loose so i just well enough alone and put it back together i wonder if there is a way to reposition the reluctor wheel through the the camshaft position sensor on the exhaust side without taking cover off
Did you remove all of the bolts in the center of the valve cover? Please check that all of the bolts are removed. Once all of them are removed, you have to pry it up. It will not come up easy. There's no other way to position the reluctor. The valve cover must come off. I wish I were there to remove it for you.
Hey Terence, thank you so much for the informative video. I had a shattered Vaccum pump which caused Hard brake pedal. Drove home slowly.. Turned off. Tried to start again but had long crank, no start. Opened up valve cover, fished out all the pieces new VP and Seal done. Reluctor had moved so I tapped into position. Closed it all up. Now it starts and brake pedal is back to normal. Seeking some guidance please as I now have Reduced engine Power notification and engine sounds like a Subaru Boxer. Smells of gas too. Should I now be looking at possibly changing the exhaust camshaft or maybe try something before that. Any assistane is appreciated please. I didn't remove the full fuel rail with injectors (just got the top part off) as I hadn't seen ur video before.. Could it be that maybe the O rings or possibly the coil hasn't been aligned properly causing a misfire?
What codes are you getting? Also, you should NOT be smelling raw gas. Is the engine running rough? Please tell me the codes if possible. Also, the fuel trims will shed some light on your situation.
Hi Terrence, thanks for your reply.. I didn't have a scanner but managed to get a mobile mechanic to run a diagnostic.. It came up with P0014 code. He also said to check spark plugs while he diagnosed so I might change them as they havnt been done. I've just ordered them. Not sure if it will fix it he issue I'm having
The spark plugs will not have any affect on your issue. I would'nt have changed them. How many miles on you car?
@@TerenceDIY just crossed 97000 kms
That's not many miles. I would not replace the spark plugs.
Hey I decided to go ahead and do it myself. My question is the vacuum pump seal that black round part does it pop right out ? So I can replace it easily ?
If you're talking about the round seal, yes you have to carefully pry it out. Make sure you clean the area good before you install the new seal. It's a fairly easy job. Here's a link for the part just in case you didn't purchase it yet. www.ebay.com/itm/204136524457?fits=Year%3A2016%7CModel%3ACruze%7CMake%3AChevrolet&hash=item2f877c2aa9:g:MaoAAOSwvKNjXptM&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA8EjLNiD1FWdPOBVRJ6plFhpMrvQaUjynHs4%2BpnokzqRyV9Xr656iHC%2B3lNeXs%2BbsmVIlC0XqK054gEwLGb7mZjQkdLYqbVRty55tlCuGg6kJvIGU7KE%2BIjVcsshk9swPnNyJsTZhf%2F99ZLD4DLqW1GvUj57jPwGTZ8Zm6OsqhXOf7g8leQr9sWGREej8EpadU8Dss8TcNFB%2FWrdOe0FbRYOJE3BJmPIyS3IQNCqrKy4Lw59m22oZjw%2F9wLkTWj6nJSOcLmex2qNSrr%2BwK%2Fk6jAn9P2RGsnn6hSmUd3%2FJnOfgx2z5JzRpdfWTy5EJ8f5aUw%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABFBMmMf5hZRh

Do you have a video of changing the PCV Valve on this same motor? I can’t find one anywhere as everyone else has the video of the built in PCV on the valve cover. I have this same engine just trying to see how hard it is to replace the PCV Valve on this exact motor. Thanks in advance 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
I do not have one. There aren't many videos on this type of Cruze engine on KZhead. Just the older style engine. It's fairly easy to replace. If I had the car I would do one. Thanks for watching.
I.belive it's part of the valve cover
It looks like you removed the bolt for the injectors so only the rail was removed. But, then it later appeared like the entire injectors came out with the rail. Did you remove the 2 torx bolts after all? Also, I know Chevroleet really cautions about removing the rail carefully using their very special removal tool ($$$). Any issues with the rail sealing after using the pry bar method?
The injectors came out on the rail. There was no issues after this job. It was a flawless job. The car still runs and drives great. Thank you for watching.
@@TerenceDIY Thanks. I am working on my 2017 Chevy Volt that either has a warped head or blown head gasket. There was no info for removing the fuel rail without the expensive GM special tool. I found this video and the fuel rail is identical. I used your method and got it removed. Very helpful!

2nd gen Cruze 2017/2016 I have been looking for an air leak for two years!!!! …. hissing sound loss of power and it would die when I stopped at a light, It was the inter cooler intake hose!!!! A hole developed because of rubbing from a belt on the bottom of the engine jacked up the car and finally found it!!! I taped it up and hissing stopped and power returned!!!! Thought it was the pcv but it wasn’t!! Hope this helped someone!
Question when you mentioned foot pounds on the torque and I see you used a dewalt drill what does that spec look like when you set your drill?
HI Earl, I only used the dewalt impact to zip the bolts down quickly. I'm so used to using it, I know how much force to apply so I only snugged them down then torqued them. Thanks for watching!
@@TerenceDIY got it thanks for the clarity, in the process of changing my valve cover great video, this was the only one I could find that was the exact model as mine
@@earlmourning9339 awesome! Once again, thanks for watching.
@@TerenceDIY Me again, I have two questions so I put everything back together with the new valve installed and oil is leaking by the vacuum pump. Is that because I don’t have the bolts tight enough or did I not use enough gasket maker? Second question during the process of installing the valve cover the top of the Pcv that attaches to the hose broke, is there a way to take the valve out? You said something about a tap approved bolt?
Earl, you can ask as many questions as you like. I'm not surprised that oil is leaking around that vacuum pump. The gasket requires replacement whenever that vacuum pump is removed. I just got lucky with this particular job, but not so lucky in the past. You're going to need to replace that o-ring style gasket on the cover (fairly easy). Also, the tamper proof bolts can be removed easily with some needle nose vice grips. You should be able to remove them with a set of regular vice grips as well. I have removed many of them. Once you remove them, you can replace that line. Just use some locktite when you reinstall the bolts. Is there anyway you can wrap the hose with some electrical tape? That will temporarily fix the problem until you're ready to fix it (I've done this quite a few times as well). It will actually hold of for a while. Let me know.
I did the plugs yesterday on my 17 Cruze, and there was a little bit of oil from the outer gasket, all hole spark plug holes were dry. it looks like it would be somewhat of a PITA to replace...
If the car isn't burning oil due to the small leak or if there isn't any oil leaking noticeably, I would not worry about it at the moment.
I'm really surprised you didn't pull them spark plugs
Need some guidance , customer came in 120k miles. Timing chain tensioner popped out and caused chain to be loose and upper guide was broken, fitted new timing chain system all the way down to vvt solenoids and sprockets. Reassembled car . Started just fine after about 5 minutes misfires with p0016 and p0017. I know timing is spot on and when disconnecting can sensors engine runs fine. Engine flushed twice with tons of metal debris due to timing failure. Where should I start. (Thinking reluctor has moved or cam blocked with metal because on scan tool , cam degrees will intermittently not reduced when ECM commands if then will go back to normal randomly.) thanks
Although I am not there to see the vehicle in person, but it sounds as if the reluctor has moved. I don't think the cam is blocked.

I’m having issue with my 2017 Cruze got 140,000 I’m leaking oil by that vacuum pump and oil is getting into the valve cover where the spark plugs sits and seems to be some oil sitting outside the valve cover what do you think the cause could be ? I’m really stumped and I’m filling oil like every 4 days I’m thinking needs new valve cover gasket and inner I’m also seeing oil in the air intake could that be a pvc issue ?
It's that rubber seal or the gasket around the vacuum pump. I just fixed a similar oil leak on a Cruze. If I were you, I'd change both before things get bad and you possibly damage something.
How about oil in the air filter you think it’s time to change the pvc valve like the one connected to the turbo or should I do all the others ones?
If you want however, I would fix the issue. I would definitely change the oil and filter after your fix the leak.
Just bought that seal for the gasket for vacuum pump I’m kinda thinking maybe o ordered the wrong part it suppose to be small the seal cause I just got it and it’s kinda small I thought it would be bigger seeing the video
28.4x53.3x7.9 is what it says just making sure it’s the right one
Did you look at the application before you purchased it? I'm pretty sure it's the right one.
@@TerenceDIY I did I went to rock auto and bought both the gasket for the vac pump and the seal that goes on the engine I’m just making sure I was just surprised how it’s not that big at all
Hello. I’m getting the following codes: p1101, p0014, p0017 & p0106. I’ve gotten the throttle body, crank shaft sensor & brake vacuum pump changed, but I’m still getting check engine & engine power reduced. Any suggestions- Chevy malibu 2016
And yes it had been a while since I got an oil change. I was actually heading to get an oil change when I lost power while driving and got the error engine power reduced
@@ebonyjones9331 , you need to check the vvt solenoids. that's the only thing that make sense to your problem. They are very easy to replace.
Pulling the head off has not been fun. Thank you for a step by step my brother
You're very welcome. Thank you SO much for watching.
@@TerenceDIY your video was a nice guide to removing the valve cover, I had chunks of aluminum off the vacuum pump make its way into the cam. All good now!
That's awesome!
Not the engine head but it is the valve cover in which with all the work involved in removing the valve cover, would definitely make one feel like you just removed the head!!! Lol!!!
What’s the torque spec for the valve cover bolts when putting back the valve cover
Hi, I don't know off top however, I disclose all of that information in the video.
How did you remove the valve cover without the special tool?
Pretty easily. I show EVERYTHING step-by-step in this video. Thank you so much for watching.
Hey I changed my throttle body, changed my engine air filter, and changed my MAF sensor…im still throwing a P2816 with a low RPM can you suggest what should I do next?
Hi, why did you change all of those parts with that code? That's a transmission related code. It's showing a fault in the transmission. What year is your Cruze? Thanks,
@@TerenceDIY long story short I noticed my RPM being low and my car stuttering… and recently when I went to get my windshield replaced they turned me away with all the error codes on my car. I have a 2016 Chevy Malibu Lt
Oh, okay. Your Malibu is pretty much the same as the Cruze. I wish you would have found my video and asked me before replacing those parts.
@@TerenceDIY same here lol so you agree I shouldve replaced the sensor?
@@chynnagogg3314 , nope, not with that code. You have an issue with the transmission. Maybe a shift solenoid (educated guess). I'm not sure since I cannot scan it properly.
What was the trick with the the hose tools or how not to use the tools?
I believe I showed everything I did in the video. Our you having issues removing a hose?
at 15:58 there's a blurb up in the left corner about a easier way however I just went ahead a cut the hose which will probably be cheaper to replace than the tool. Your video has been an a great help. No wonder there's a lawsuit about these weak vacuum pumps that disintegrate and drop pieces in the engine@@TerenceDIY
I am glad my video helped you. I totally agree with you about the vacuum pumps. Once again, thanks for watching.
What's the yellowish chalk substance that's all over the turbo under the heat shield? I noticed that on my cruze as well.
I'm not sure but I will say it's nothing to be concerned over. Thank you so much for watching.
@@TerenceDIY Thanks. I appreciate your videos.
Sounds like antifreeze leak maybe, ive seen antifreeze leave white chalk line residue. I would check the levels of the antifreeze to make sure theyre ok and isnt leaking somewhere
So I have a Malibu I just changed the vacuum but it broke the camshaft would it be the same process or how would I go about the timing chain
This process would be a start of a very tedious job. You would have to remove the side engine mount to raise the engine and remove many more components to get to the timing chain.
@@TerenceDIY so would I have to take off the chain to do the camshaft ?
Absoluetly.
Is it common for the the camshaft sensors and solenoid to go bad after the break booster brraks
The answer is no if you're asking a question. I am very familiar with this engine. Thanks for watching.
@@TerenceDIY do I have to remove the valv cover change reluctor wheel position? And after it’s move will it move again?….greatly appreciate your feedback
@@TheRealBlacHood , yes you will have to remove the valve cover as I did in the video. Once you move the reluctor back in position, it should be fine.
@@TerenceDIY appreciate you king
Change my catalytic converter, still getting back the code p0420, what wrong is the ecu giving faulty code that the only code that chiggers the check engine light so i dont know malibu 2018
That code relates to the downstream O2 sensor. Have you replaced any o2 sensors?
Have equinox 2018 1.5 lt. Obd 2 code says map sensor but do not know it's location and how to replace it, help please
If I remember correctly, it's the sensor adjacent to the throttle body. It takes a Torx T-25 to remove it. Super easy and simple to replace in a matter of minutes.
@@TerenceDIY tks for the reply , all the best
how do you lift a hard to remove valve cover?
If you have a mallet, tap around it until it free up. The gasket is holding it. You can also find an area where you can use a small pry bar or a thick flat head screw driver and pry it up.
How did you remove the Pcv hose? I can seem to free mine
I didn't have any difficulties removing it. If you want, you can lock some vice grips on the tamper proof bolts and remove them easily and quickly that way.
@@TerenceDIY Any tips on getting it off with the fuel line disconnect tools. Could I email you some photos and perhaps pay you for your time or advice?
@@leogonzalez8975 , I apologize for the late response. I had a very busy day. You don't have to pay me for anything. As far as using the disconnect tool, you have to push it as far as you can into the connector. You can use a little penetrant oil on the connector as well before inserting the disconnect tool. Also, make sure you are using the size that I used in the video. Once you've pushed it as far as it can go, wiggle it as you pull backwards, making sure the disconnect tool stays firmly pushed into the connector. I wish I were there to help you.
Having problems taken the valve covers off.. please help
What problems? This video shows exactly how to do it.
how do you remove those tapper proof bolts?
Some vice grips. Needle nose vice grips does good as well. Super simple to remove using grips. Thank you for watching.
Something very strange caught my eye I have th same engine in my 2018 but it reads 0w20 on the oil cap.i hope someone didn't put the wrong oil fill cap on that engine. The cap on your car reads 5w30
What did you used to take the bolt off
Which bolt?
Next to the hose on the valve cover it’s in the front in the middle
Oh, that's a tamper proof bolt. It requires a special tool however, if you have some needle nose vice grips, they will work great!
Can you recover from oarts being broken off in the engine ?
What parts? Can you explain? Thank you.
@@TerenceDIY from the vacuum pump. I went to chevy today they said it’s need that and exhaust cam shaft gaskets & cam bolt needs replacement. So you have a video on that ?
@@Avation.Experience , this video shows you in detail how to replace the vacuum pump although It shows many more elements. The Chevy dealership job is to be over the top. All you need to do is replace the vacuum pump. The vacuum pump breaking into pieces at the shaft is pretty common. All you need to do is remove the broken pieces that's inside of the valve cover and you're good. It's a fairly easy job. You don't have to remove the valve cover if you don't want to. Sí, si hace funcionar el vehículo con muy poco aceite, ese sensor fallará. ¡Gracias por ver!
Didn't this car only have 56,000 miles on it just 6 months ago when you cleaned the throttle body😳😳
I think it was around 86k. They drive that thing all day every day (uber eats, instacart, etc...). It has around 140k now.

You're very welcome. I am in Chicago.
Watch Dave’s world he explains a lot about boost leaks there so many spots on the Cruz
Helpful video but the valve cover gaskets are NOT reusable. They are a whopping $30 for mahle brand from any auto parts store
How did u know it was the vvt
I've dealt with a few of them so I already had an idea. Also, you can actually hear a clicking noise coming from them when they have become damaged.
You probably should have just put a new oil filter on it as well and called it an oil change
Where are you located?
Chicago, Illinois.
@@TerenceDIY okay nice! I have a 2018 Chevy Equinox with an check engine light on. The camshaft sensor is not your issue. Did you check the reluctor position? That's probably the issue.
@TerenceDIY I haven't! Do you have an email? I have a picture of a reluctor I just need you to verify if it's the right one.
I show specifically in this video the reluctor and where the placement should be. You can send a picture if you like. wisenooty@gmail.com
