That tempered glass looks so out of place that it almost feels illegal.
I think it looks stupid. It's far too small for the display
5 years into using Samsung Edge devices, I have to confess that is very hard to find the right glass screen protector - actually I can't remember even hearing about a good glass screen protector for SGS6edge(+), the SGS7edge nor the Note 7 (FE). Those first good ones I found about were made for S8s/N8s and S9s/N9s, and some of them were even applied with liquid glue and worked flawlessly. Regardless, most of the GSC for SGS6e-7e etc, especially the cheapest ones, do require smashing on the screen to type a letter or are falling off your screen after 3.14 minutes of usage. Due to the nature of the curved screens, most of the glass protectors do have glue (or double-sided tape) only on their edges, hence, they are quite unuseful. The screen protector Hugh used in the video has none of those issues, protects the screen from scratches, and when paired with a nice case, like a Spigen one, can guarantee a high level of protection. As I own a few Note 7s, I also tend to have few screen protectors which are just the same as those in the video (although mine were pricier, I believe) and I have no complaints towards using them on daily basis.
@@simmcho can't imagine that the S-Pen can still be used without getting caught on the edge of the protector.

@@draig3963 Similar situation for me with my Note9 except I could afford the repair or potentially do it myself but the places near me were charging almost the cost of what a new Note9 would cost and the screens to repair it yourself also cost a significant chunk of what a new Note9 would cost. You could only replace the glass which is much cheaper but special equipment is needed. I decided to give up on having it repaired and felt if I was going to buy a new phone might as well buy a newer model and not a note9 again.

"Don't replace batteries with Third pary ones. They might explode if poorly built" It was designed by a company who re engineered the note 7 battery to become safer, and the original battery usually explodes
Pretty sure it wasn't an overheating issue that caused the fires. It was the fact that because of the lack of room around the battery (as demonstrated in your video) and the internal makeup of the battery (samsung had crammed in the internal structure to get the largest capacity they could at the time) any slight knock or drop caused the anode and cathode layers to touch inside the battery at one of the corner causing a short circuit and subsequently swelling and flame. They wanted that bigger number and didn't put enough thought into the safety implications of the design
this, but thankfully they learned their lesson and can safely put bigger batteries in phones now

@Zaakie so he shouldn't have said "anything"
I feel like with the appearance of the safer fan knock-off batteries, the updates that blocked the Note 7's ability to charge should've at least checked for the original battery before bricking the device. Then if a safer fan knock-off is detected (using methods such as amperage), the battery charge limit would not kick in and the phone would be usable and rechargeable.
the motherboard and software should check the BMS that is built into the battery and if its not original when it was first powered on or manufactured it should acknowledge the different battery and continue functioning like a normal phone

This was the phone I wanted to upgrade to after they got all the new phone bugs get worked out. It's usually six months or so after a phone is released and in the wild before I think about it. Once this whole thing went down, I didn't even think about upgrading again until February 2020, and I got a Note 10+. The phone being replaced was a Note 5, which I still have, and even use every now and then. I'm glad I didn't just jump right in and buy a Note 7 when it was released though, which I was very seriously thinking about doing and completely disregarding my self imposed rule about not buying a new device at or near launch. I got really close though. It was literally the very next day after I had talked myself into it that the first round of fires started and I hit the breaks on the idea. If I had gone through with it, I would have been caught up in the middle of a huge recall, and without a new Note device for the first time in several years. I forget what phone they were setting people up with in the final recall, but I do remember that it was a Galaxy S that didn't really interest me much at all, so I would have got a refund and gone back to my Note 5.

I hope you get the Note20 Ultra 5G ones cuz apparently depending on your region Samsung is also selling the Note20 Ultra non-5G Exynos 990 with inferior 8GB RAM compare to the 5G ones (N986xx; x - depends on your country/region or carrier). I was almost fooled by Samsung cuz they set a really bad marketing example here in the Philippines... Where they only sell the 5G model on their online site or via carrier/postpaid phone plans and only available in Mystic Bronze colour (which I honestly don't like and would anytime pick the Mystuc Black over it, no offense to you. 🙂✌️). But nonetheless for a lesser amount of money maybe same amount as the regular Note20 you'll get the same spec if you instead get a Note10+ 4G/5G instead of the Note20 Ultra 4G (N985) or 5G (N986). And since Samsung is now supporting up to 3 major OS updates for flagship phones released in 2019 onwards you basically have nothing to lose except for 120Hz screen refresh rate (very awesome kills battery faster), 9ms S-PEN latency, 108mp camera with 8K@24fps video recording & some 200mAh battery capacity which shouldn't be a big deal. Or better yet if you don't care about 120Hz screen refresh rate, crazy 108mo camera, Storage Expandability via MicroSD and 9ms S-PEN latency you're better off with regular Note20. #JustSaying. #Note10PlusUserHere

The Note 7 is so beautiful 😍 (I myself prefer this look over any phone that has ever come before or after) the silver one in particular
The most beautiful Note ever!
Just in case you didn't know (though I'm sure you do having worked on quite a few Samsungs already, but hey), with the S7/Note7 and up, you CAN actually flash different carrier's firmware onto these, so long as (I believe) it's the same binary. Actually used to do it with my S7, got it unlocked from T-Mobile US, flashed it to G930U so all the carrier junk was gone. Also has the advantage of controlling the bands as the phone supports a variety of frequency bands BUT locks to those supported by the currently installed firmware. The only hard limitation is that the bootloader has to support the firmware you're flashing (which you already know to check for in this case with the binary versions), AND the firmware has to be for the SoC your phone has. Exynos firmware won't work on a Snapdragon and vice versa, so you'd be stuck to US firmware variants. Sounds like this is more of a showpiece though so this is probably completely irrelevant but if you ever wanted to be free of the AT&T junk (and you can find the N930U firmware without the battery limits), it can be done. Also, it won't trip Knox, either. But it also sounds like if you take the wrong firmware with this you're hosed so I'm not sure I'd personally risk it, either.
I have an old S7 edge that my daughter somehow damaged the motherboard inside. I've been thinking about getting it running again depending on cost and trying to figure out if I should root or do something else with it. It wasn't used for 9 months (less than 1 year for sure). I'm debating if I use it as my experimenting device or actually try and breathe life into it and sell it. It it's branded ATT. I could probably unlock it from ATT once booted since it was originally mine from them. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

This machine has a similar story as the HP Pavilion zd8000. It had a battery that would overheat, causing the main computer to overheat itself and catch fire.
