I am so glad I was in on this from the beginning. Such a beautiful experience. Never saw a giraffe being born. Congratulations AAP!
Many thanks from Ireland. This has been such a treat to follow - for me and my family. It is so moving to see all the loving that April has for her calf. Thanks for the joy you all brought us! Best of luck with your ventures.
Congrats on the baby giraffe! I have been watching the cams for about a month and happily woke up on Saturday morning just as the hooves started poking out, so was able to watch the entire birth, the first steps and first nursing! What a beautiful and strong boy he is! April is such a perfect Mom too. That is such a happy story and much needed in this crazy world right now! I know you need to take the cams down and understand fully as to why. I do hope you will continue to post occasional videos like this so we can watch him as he grows and maybe see him outside running and playing! Now I want to learn a lot more about giraffes in the wild! Thank you for sharing such an amazing event with the world! :)
What wonderful close ups of the birth from another angle.April did so well delivering her new baby boy and he sure is beautiful. I only hope that we get to see her new baby on his wonderful new journey into the animal park. Thanks once again for this amazing opportunity, I was gripped the whole way through, from the beginning of filming in February until the end. Love from Jules in Liverpool, UK x
Great shots of the giraffe family. And nice to see baby's corner that is out of view of the webcam.
Amperzand I was happy to see that too. In the beginning, I thought they had separated the two!
is April's calf gonna be named and is Oliver gonna be allowed in there soon???
Oliver is a bull. They are the sperm donor, then the deadbeat dad. He plays no part in the rearing of the calf. He paced around because of the smells during labor and birth. He is interested in this little thing, but is complete unaware of it being part of him. As a bull, he is very unpredictable and might hurt the calf. His keepers do not clean his stall until he is out of it, the stall, I mean. There is a contest going on to name the calf. I recommend you go to the actual AAP site. AprilTheCalf.com, one word. The All Things April page has instructions on how to enter, but be quick, the contest already has the first round of names. The real AAP site is a 24/7 web cam. It has no comments.
Where do the babies sleep, next to mom or in between front legs? So beautiful
I don't know about other giraffe calves, but April's baby seems to prefer sleeping right next to April's food and water station. April usually sleeps a few feet away......she must need some "mommy time" to herself! The birth was just so amazing to watch and the baby calf could NOT be any cuter!
Congratulations on the birth of the baby giraffe boy!! The journey for the giraffe calf is only the beginning!!💙💙💙💙
These giraffes have and continue to bring amazing pleasure to my heart and I truly couldn't be more thankful to Jordan, his family and staff.
VERY adorable!.
Terry Arasheben XD
April's baby was born on my birthday! April 15, 2017. I even said it would be born on my Birthday. I am so excited.
Ollie jr, is so beautiful. I keep tearing up....
thank you from Florida for sharing such a wonderful journey.
oh please don't take the camera down Mr. Patch! We love them now! It's making me cry!!
Hope we can watch mother and baby for months to come, please! :-) this is even more fun than the beauty of birth.
wonderful success!! it couldn't have gone more perfectly!! Prayers that it all continues on this path...God bless April and her son....! I like the name Ollie!
going to miss checking in on AAP. good luck with all your future endeavors. thanks so much for sharing this experience with the world ;0)

💜💜Oh, I just love Giraffes. 💜💜 I just love Giraffes. 💜💜
I absolutely love love love this!!! He's soooo adorable!! 😚😙😘
beautiful giraffe family
baby is like "Moooom. i dont wanna get up"
Aww they're so cute 😍❤💕
wish we could see more of April and her little one I have been watching for along time, it saddens be to think I will not see the little one progress. I know I will never be able To go to your zoo because of my health and the distance, Gloria.
Me too, I am in the same position as you. Because of all of us viewers they made a ton of cash through go fund me, toys r us sponsorship, you tube, merchandise, cash for questions, text alerts and now baby naming contest, enough to keep the park going for the next few years, the least he could do to say thank you to all of us is leave the cam up so we can watch the baby progress!
Jordon said there will be an outdoor camera soon. They will also post videos and pictures showing the baby's progress. He has to finish construction and open a park in less than a month.
I'm saddened too that they have to take the giraffe cam down. But in an interview I saw on Tuesday, the owner said that the park is getting ready to open for the season and they do run a business. He said he might put a yard cam up when the weather warms up and the baby can go outside. I've really enjoyed watching the whole process and the calf, by instinct, knows to stay in the dark at night as a baby calf would in the wild.
And what a journey this has been ive watch them all ! And now we watch johari's
I name the calf JPG as in Jordan Patch Giraffe (I was one of the millions that watched April... )
I'm really sad they're taking the camera down cuz I still check in on them a couple times today only to find it was taken down
cool vid--first time able to see from another angle than way up high.
the baby is so cute
I have taken a journey from I believe the 22 of February watching two Giraffe's become 3. Momma Daddy and Baby .April and Oliver so comical in the days leading up to the birth of the little one . Some said it wasn’t true no baby in there well she proved them wrong! Believe it or not! AS IN RIPLEY’S BELIEVE IT OR NOT! she was going to give birth and did in fact do just that. There for the baby should be Named RIPLEY !!!!!
they should install another camera!!!
Awww the babys like mama dont lick me now were on camera
I will miss you April. Hope the camera's will come back.
wonderful all went well..
Thank you all, will miss you❤️
He is so adorable ! I am glad it is over for April. What is the baby name?
All the cutes.
Can they show on the news the significant meaning of top ten new names for baby giraffe and any poems or tribute to the children from the people who suggested names.
What kind of sound do they make?
woww, now we can watch them very clearly, can somebody tell me where is tis animal Park? I mean the full address, wish I could visit them someday, thank you Jordan, love frm Singapore
That's cute
Awwwwwww
"April the giraffe is about to give birth" tag line in February was totally misleading 😑
The calf should be named: Olipril.
His last name is my dogs name patch
1,000th like
does anyone know if they've named the calf i heard it is a boy
Jordyn Herrig check their FB page or aprilthegiraffe.com for the latest info.
name the baby dots
Some said it wasn’t true no baby in there well she proved them wrong! Believe it or not! AS IN RIPLEY’S BELIEVE IT OR NOT! she was going to give birth and did in fact do just that. There for the baby should be Named RIPLEY !!!!! Doesn't anyone think that is an adorable name for him . He also has those little ripples on his face right down his nose lol. SO darn cute you just want to sit and adore him April and Oliver 24/7 and watch the AAP work with them all going to miss everyone Furry and Human .
Vote for the name Alfie for all Aprils Alfalfa showers!!!
What is the babies name??
He hasn't been named yet, they are doing a contest to name him.
Xander 🙂
I think we should NAME her juniper, or blaze
Wendy Studner It a BOY!
Do they ever go outside to run around?
Yes they have significant time outside if the weather is good. Since April had the baby, I'm not so sure she has gone outside yet with the baby. But Oliver has gone out for sure.
Thanks!
Sylvia
wow David Johnston.. you don't mince words, heh? You know your stuff...some people are not as informed-a s i wasn't at first...I was freaked when I saw April limping....I think that happened when she was freaking out about them touching her kid. There must be a better way to weigh the baby than that.
get that calf moving open the doors let him run::::::::::::::/ / / / / /
It's too cold there to let him out.

Alright, who is the one hater who gave a thumbs down?
Someone that hates their life.
Probably the idiot that reported their channel to youtube stating "nudity" as the violation so they could have the channel taken down. Jokes on them....it backfired big time with fans complaining and having youtube reinstalling rights to the channel so millions could watch.
Thumbs down doesn't necessarily mean that they hated the clip.

I'd love to know how much $$$ this guy made from this giraffe event...he's laughing all the way to the bank!!
Tam Tam it's a for profit zoo. He never said otherwise. No one held a gun to anyone 'a head to get money from them. They have advised which charities the majority of the money raised is given to, including for giraffe conservation in the wild. Educate yourself before showing your ignorance.
I'm so sad they are taking down the cams. I heard April hurt her leg...So now we will not know if she's okay...After months of watching her. Now what? Will they put her down? Gosh it makes me so sick...what about Apollo? Not very thoughtful to all who followed her. I hate this not knowing😥😥😥😥😥
Vicki Schultz no they will not put her down if you follow their FB page you will see they have already said she's totally fine
I feel the same way, after watching and supporting the park for months and waiting for the baby to be born they just snatch away the cam 5 days after the birth. It's just so unfair :(
Vicki Schultz They stated from the beginning the cam would go down about 5 days after the birth and repeated this over and over. And April is fine. She just got a little twist in her leg. They said it's not serious and it will heal on its own.
Before the baby was even born they told the public they would only air for 5 days, so stop whining and be thankful you got to see a giraffe give birth live. They didn't have to put cams up at all. Think about all the other animals in zoos, and all the zoos in the world, who have critters giving birth all the time. You don't get to see those and yet you have survived. They don't put a giraffe down for a twisted leg. She is already walking better. This happens easily to all animals, including cats and dogs. Stop being a cry baby and get a life beyond the computer screen.
Vicki Schultz what makes you so sick?? Why are you even mentioning about them putting her down over a sore leg that's going to heal???! They said from day one that the cameras would be taken down shortly after the birth & Jordan Patch has said that sadly it will be pulled sooner due to all the people who are constantly emailing them about Aprils every move.
I name the calf El Stupido.
Today the men terrorized the calf and April again!!! Poor April was just Frantic as she was locked away from the baby having to watch on as they locked her in Oliver's stall as they snapped flash bulbs and manhandled her calf again. Now she seems veery lame and uncomfortable from the ordeal. OMG!!!! what is wrong with this zoo???????????????
1. They separate the calf for a few minutes in order to check weight and vitals to makes sure that he's getting the nutrition that he needs. If they didn't and there was something wrong that they missed, the calf could die. 2. Temporary distress from minutes-long separation is not hurting April. One kick from April can kill a person, and they are not going to risk getting hurt. 3. Taking photos isn't hurting him. If anything, it's getting him used to seeing cameras considering that guests will be snapping photos of him his entire life. 4. These people know what they're doing. They are highly schooled and licensed zoologists, and they know how to handle these animals safely. 5. She's lame from slightly twisting her leg while standing, which isn't exactly uncommon in animals with legs as long as a giraffe's. I recommend educating yourself before you start slinging judgments on things you obviously have no knowledge of.
WarChant dA April was not lame until this morning following the incident. I ride hunter Jumper and happen to know more than most about large animals and hoof, ankle , leg injuries. Dressage is my specialty. So take a flying leap into the world of animals and equine paleontology before you try to sound so educated in something you obviously know nothing about!!
.........giraffes aren't equines.
Sarah H. That at least is correct...now go study palientology....also study animal behavior of prey animals ...Africa.
I have. Giraffes, as prey animals, are inherently suspicious, and a mother with a new calf is INCREDIBLY protective and wouldn't have let the staff anywhere near it. Separating April from her calf (for five minutes) was necessary so the staff could examine the calf for birth defects or injuries, without the threat of Momma April kicking them and possibly landing someone in the hospital. Also, from the Animal Adventure Park Facebook page; "We are well aware, long before the first email that April had a small twist of her leg today which has her favoring it. This is not unheard of in such long legged animals. Dr Tim was on site and all is well. We appreciate concern but the bogging down of email servers and other platforms is the exact reason the giraffe cam will need be pulled. While we appreciate the concern, it is interfering with normal park operations and preparation for opening; at a period when our resource of time is limited and cannot be hindered. Please allow our team to do as they are trained to do - we have their care covered!"
