  • Every day I walked to work wearing a suit and tie thinking how much my job sucked and how much I wish I had a better life, Then one day I sat down beside a homeless man who didnt have his hand out. Imagine how absurd I felt sitting there in a suit, then I listened to his story, and every day for two years I sat down beside my homeless friend Rowl. Rowl would not let me give him money. He wanted me to just listen. So I did. One day my friend wasn't there. I haven't seen him since. I miss my friend, and, more importantly I really appreciate his sacrifice for us. Thank you Rowl. I miss you brother... You have tough me that a simple act of kindness is the least we can do and often what we owe the people we ignore... We can be better....

    • +Jim Akeson Thats all veterans want is someone to just try to understand what they saw and had to do. I have befriended many vets and some dont want to talk about their experiences andd some do. The most important thing is just being there as a friend. God bless you for your simple act of kindness, we need more like you.

  • Thank guy's for writing such a powerful song. I'm a retired Operator. This brings tears to my eyes. I somehow came out of it without too much mental damage, but I've seen far too many of my brothers break. Thank you for raising a voice for soldiers. We do our jobs with Honor, Courage, and Commitment.

    • Absolutely I’m a Veteran 16 years and 4 16 month deployments and as all Veteran on here knows or Brothers died in countries and for what. I struggle everyday and to all you weak civilians that are to afraid to sign that line and take that oath and be in country telling your Brothers that they are going to be fine knowing the whole damn time you was lying to him and there’s no cure and never will be this is our new life getting treated like trash and can’t get this or that because we are disabled but whoever is to scared and all men of age should do 2-4 years and it might make it better or worse but everyone needs to see what we do and see and it’s never gonna go away…… So me personally I don’t believe this disrespect any Veteran he went back and how many has been in war or military so until then judge us but I like the songs he gets justice for his Dead Brothers and I’ve done the same so say shit about me. I like the song and if had it to do over I be right there.

    • @@LarryFowler-sn6wvThank you so very much sir for your lengthy, dedicated and selfless tours of duty overseas, fighting for the freedom of others and fighting in a country that hates us...the United States. Please know that you are a very valuable person and a very valuable part of what this great country is all about. You sacrificed so much and we are still the greatest country in the world....thanks to you and all the other brave men and women that served this country. I've never served, missed my opportunity, but have many family members who have served, in peacetime and wars. I wish I could just hug you and tell you that there are so many people who support you and look up to you and really want to help you. Please know that you are loved deeply, not just by other people, but by the most high, Jesus Christ. He never will, desert you. Please find a great VA hospital to attend for various groups and loving, understanding and compassionate people whom you are associated with. Don't give up! There is ALWAYS hope! GOD Bless you sir, you are a child of GOD! ❤️🙏

  • My dad was a big drinker and abuser. I struggled with building relationships after I moved out. Took away my self worth. I soon drowned in the darkness and became my father. I became the man I promised. I would never become. I picked up that bottle and couldn’t let it go. Almost pushing away all my family and loved ones. I put that bottle down 10/19/22 and have made the changes. To being the father, son, and husband and friend my father could never become. I’m grateful that I was able to overcome my addiction. And get the help I needed. Thank you for the song. Really helps keep me motivated to keep pushing. 1 day at a time.

Once your body gets to that point, it’s only a matter of time until the liver is past the point of repair. Scary stuff. Two tours Iraq 07-08, 2010. USAF Seccurity Forces, Staff Sergeant.

  • I am a vet and almost became homeless. If it wasn't for my girlfriend's mom letting me live with them and get back on my feet, I would have became homeless. I listened to this song so many time before watching this video. And while watching this, I had a hard time focusing on the music because the subtitles and focusing on the expressions of these veterans really got to me. I liked the ending because there are a few amount of people that would help a homeless person, vet or not, off the street like that. When those 2 people locked eyes.... Edit: Well sadly we recently gotten divorced(married for 12yrs and together for 16yrs). It’s been rough for me lately. She seems to regret what she did but is struggling financially. I’m only struggling mentally. I didn’t have just my heart crushed….it was shattered. Last few months I’ve been having to pick up the pieces to become what I’ve been training to be. Now all I do is work, workout, play video games and watch anime. Anything to keep my mind busy. But at night….when I sleep….its quiet and my mind wonders 😢😭

  • After 21 years in the Army, all in the infantry. Numerous tours in the middle east and Africa. I returned home after my last tour to divorce paperwork and looking into the eyes of my two grown daughters and thinking, who are you? We were hit by an IED on my last tour and I suffered from a TBI and a host of other things. So, like so many of us, I ended up homeless, addicted to drugs, using women and just simply being a real piece of crap. It took me 7 years and the chance meeting with this amazing woman who helped me et my head straight enough to ask for help. And after jumping through the hoops and going to the VA and my local vet rep, but I started collecting on my retirement and was awarded 100% from the VA. That woman taught me a lot. And she still does. I married that woman. And one thing that she always does, is plays me music that she believes I need to hear. I am grateful to my wife, for introducing me to Five Finger Death Punch. And for making me actually hear the words that that patriotic group has to say.

    • I’m also a retired 11B and know your anguish, it pulls the floor from under us and we don’t know how to respond and we feel alone, completely alone. I lost one of my men to suicide after he ETSed and I missed his last phone call, I tear up thinking about him. What he saw one day in Iraq, no one should have to witness the death of women and children and it wasn’t us that did it, just crazy Iraqi’s who care less for life. When those closest to us that we’re supposed to trust the most let us down and emotionally abandon us, it cuts even deeper. Then the VA cares less since they think we’re making things up so when we trust the VA, it cuts deeper. I’m glad you’re free now. Women rarely know how,to respond to our emotions, they just see that you embarrass them and there’s little to no money coming in.

My mom is the one suffering and my dad is the piece of shit he doesn't treat us right and we have over 7 dogs. He buys shit food all the time when he can afford to feed us better and a lot of other very horrible things my dad really sucks. But I still have major respect for other veterans because they risked their life to protect. I have to take back what I said again. I feel he cares about us he is just struggling, I talked to him today and it made me feel better. As bad as I think we have it over here at least we got a house and food. I'm unsure of his character but he does want me succeed in life.

They fighting for politicians. Were they fucking ever invaded? fuck no. Everytime Americans are the fire starter...sry guys. I have nothing against you, you dont even know about it that you are being moved like chess pieces all over the world. Remember my words. You have nothing to do with it, you just the poor people that will be affected the most when rich men in your country will start everything. Mark my words for that. The war is coming ...maybe not to your country because you away but war is already on middle east, you taking part in it for resources , you do not fight for freedom there. BULLSHIT. War is in europe as well...not officially but is there. And war will come to you as well...once you wont be able to fight you will be forgotten because we are all only a pieces in rich people game. @Seizure1993@Seizure19936 ай бұрын
    • I'd agree that it may have raised awareness, but the money to help has been sadly lacking. I am one of the many veterans that have experienced homelessness, and I'm soon to be in that same damn boat again. Our government has been so interested in enriching themselves that the ones who have kept their freedoms alive are merely an afterthought. It is sickening, and a sad commentary of this country.

      @thomaswall9259@thomaswall92596 ай бұрын
    • I agree with that and like I've said before. There is absolutely no reason for any of our veterans to be homeless. Cold hungry, whatever this country should take care of our veterans, till the day they pass for free. We need to take care of our own first and stop worrying about the rest of the world. Take care of our own first cause. I aint nobody out there taking care of iris. That's something we should do. I'm an army veteran and then I'm blessed because I have a home. I have good insurand that is such a blessing. And it's a miracle in my life. I can't stand the fact that. I've entrance around the street. Some of them in the cold. Someone emptied it arms andelete some of them's brain. Are not right. There's a lot of things and they should NOT EVER BE WITHOUT. People don't realize this country without our soldiers and veterans. It's like heaven with no angels. A lot of good men and women stand up for our way of life and everybody. We have now and our military branches are all volunteers. There's not been a draft since Vietnam. And I must say Vietnam veterans are not treated fairly. They're not treated right and that's a shame .

We take care of them. But what better own I'm a veteran as well. But I'm blessed that I do have a home. I have good insurance where I can do medical. And that is such a blessing in my life. I could not imagine not having some more light in my head. Not having a blanket to cover up me. In my little Fur baby, it's a d*** shine. Veterans should be taken care of 100% free for the rest of their life. Shouldn't have to worry about d*** thing. But as you said, our governments to worry about other s*** to worry about the ones who stood up. I still stand to protect our way of life. Thank you for your servi. • Truly a masterpiece. The lyrics to the song, and the strong video. A Masterpiece.

    • Gotta make a living some how and feed your family and if your craft is killing then no need to be ashamed, and if you are then that's not your craft. and get the fuck over it. these Lyrics were made for special snow flakes like you. the people today are so spineless and weak like all of you.

  • Like others who have said, I can't watch this video without being in tears by the end. I am a vet myself, but I have been luckier than others. I feel for those who haven't been as lucky as me.

  • My son is an Army vet....he was in Iraq for 2 and half years. Talk about stress and worry. I am so grateful for his service and that he returned safely. Now he is blessing me with my first grandchild ❤ my beautiful Rosalina will be gracing us with her presence in June. ❤❤❤ But unfortunately, mentally he will never be the same. To all the veterans out there....I love you all with every bit of my heart ❤️❤️❤️❤️
