So for full disclosure, I posted a reaction to Unforgettable Day before but it was the Chinese Show version. Not only did that video get blocked by the Chinese Show, many, many subscribers told me I should have listened to the Gakku version.
So... This is a first time reaction of the Gakku version of the song, but I have heard the composition before (in case people accuse me of not being truthful).
Needless to say, you were all correct. This version is amazing. I liked the older version but this is really so much more. Thank you.

The whistle note at frequency 4699hz or D8 was not planned, let alone sustained few seconds with vibrato. He said it’s just happened. I choose to believe he was communicating with aliens at the time. Great reaction!

This "Gakku" festival took place in September 2017 in Almaty, Kazakhstan. It is said that the city center was paralyzed on the day of the concert. More than 150,000 spectators gathered in the central square of the city. Many came then only because of Dimash. Dimash performed at the end of the concert and sang 5 songs. It was evident that Dimash was relaxed on stage because the competition in China was behind him. The festival is not a competition, and Dimash was HOME, among his countrymen and DEARS. In the song "Unforgettable Day" he took a chance and sang D8. And before the D8 he was waving his microphone, but we didn't hear the sound. I think it was some ultra-sound that only animals hear, and people don't hear. It is said that Dimash sang D8 - "the whistling of the dolphin" and it was the longest sound of this high note. In the history of modern singing performance, the longest sound of this note. There are singers who take this high note, but for so long to keep it no one can. The music for this song was written by Dimash himself when he was 19 years old.

I always enjoy listening to you (and watching too 👀 ) You're right here Dimash feels very homely and comfortable, performing in his own country. It is a great festival Gakku of 150,000 spectators. Yes, it's a Dimash composition. Beautiful, but my favorite is his War and Peace. The lyrics were written by a Chinese poet as Dimash intended. Beautiful lyrics. Recently Dimash' said this whistle was not planned. He just casually hit a note that is not on the piano and is only one note below the highest note ever sang from a male vocalist (World record).
One of the qualities of all great artists, men and - even the occasional woman! 🙄😉 is that they are not afraid to take risks and go where no one has gone before. Dimash knows how much we love him and realizes that wherever he goes we will willingly follow.
a lot of people can make those pitches but they don't apply for the record. I can do it and I've recorded whistles that high for 2 songs/demos already. Most famously, Nicola Sedda does these high notes, up to A9 on "The Call". There's also a couple of people recorded with spectrograms to be able to produce sounds at F10 or above (actually outside our hearing range). In my experience it's difficult, but not all that much, if you're not drinking alcohol, coffee or smoking, you should be able to learn it, I'd say it's like 7/10 difficulty. Nobody applies for these records though, my highest was an E9 and I never applied cause it's just...kinda pointless. There's practically no reason to have notes like that in songs other than to show you can do it.

Hi Lukas! Yes, Dimash wrote this piece when he was a teenager. Lyrics by Oral Baissengir. ❤ Another masterpiece that he wrote is "War and Peace" with lyrics in Mandarin. It's one of my favorites that he has composed.

På en flyplass var det satt opp sperrebånd for publikum. Fansen hans holdt seg på den rette siden mens det var Dimash som ble stoppet av Securitas da han forsøkte å snike seg under til fansen sin. 😂 At an airport, barricades had been set up for the public. His fans stayed on the right side while it was Dimash who was stopped by Securitas when he tried to sneak under to his fans. Lol
It puzzles me why some Dears take it upon themselves to decide that there are right versions and wrong versions!!! Are they then saying that in the wrong version Dimash doesn't sing well!!! There are NO wrong versions, they are all brilliant. They are different each time and absolutely fantastic. Here you see a relaxed DImash and if you see him in concert you will see that he is always very close to his fans and interacts, jokes and sings with them. I guess the pressure of the competition is gone! Once again I see you are perfectly in tune with his emotions and what is going on. You definitely are a wonderful reactor! Thank you.

Hello. I don't think anyone thinks that Dimash sings badly in another version. Or that it's wrong. He can't sing badly at all. It's just that many people, including me, think that the Gakku version is more interesting. Because here Dimash is relaxed, in his element, and can afford what he could not at the competition.

I don't understand people who say that the Singer version is the wrong one. In Singer he does things he doesn't here and vice versa. And that's true for all all the versions - he never repeats himself, and that's one of the reasons he is never boring. There is no such thing as a wrong version of this song, they are all different in many ways, but all are amazing and worth listening to.
I agree. I suspect people say “it’s the wrong one” because it isn’t the one with the D8. However, the D8 is not my reason for listening to Unforgettable Day. In fact, the D8 doesn’t add anything or detract at all from the melodic line. This is a lovely piece and - you’re right, Dimash never repeats himself. This makes every listen a new adventure and a different feeling.
BTW my favorite one is from the Singer.... But this one is good too. Each time its different. Dimash everytimes

Lucas is THE go to guy for Dimash reaction videos. There is Lucas and then there are all the rest. When I see the visuals for the other videos all I can think is they are all just trying to jump on the band wagon and go along for the ride.

I attended his solo concert in New York . there were 20,000 people there yet it did feel very intimate with lots of interaction with the crowd. You could tell he was just having a great time!! and here after he hit the D8 he just continued like it was nothing

He has a masters degree in Musical Composition, and he is enrolled in a Doctorate program for his PHD in Musicology...
Imagine if Qairan Elim was a part of his Master Thesis what should be as a Doctoral? 😁
In one of his last interviews, he told us that he is working on a larger piece. Maybe a symphony? He is so hardworking (amazing). He is composing, recording an album, working with his doctorate, does his daily exercise (3 hours voice training plus sports), spend quality time with his family and friends, at the same time as he just finished working on a music video and the digital concert. And being that perfectionist we know he is... You can imagine how much time it takes.
I could easily do what he does. If I were him! 🙄 To say Dimash is a genius is a gross understatement. We are so lucky to be able to be here at this moment in space and time and able to bear witness to his genius and multiple gifts.
@@erik1836 Lol Yes indeed. In my youth I was so sad not growing up in the 60' so that I could experience the Beatles live. But nothing or no one can be compared with Dimash. In the future, the world can hear his music, watching videos, read about him, but that is not the same as to follow him now.
When Dimash sang this on The Singer, he was sick. That was still a fabulous performance.

That was his off the piano D8 with vibrato. The more intimate audience was actually 150,000 people. He has other songs of his own including Give Me Your Love as a tribute to 1 of his idols, Michael Jackson. He did one version in Moscow and a revamped version at his concert in New York last year. Same music but different dance choreography.

I’m so glad you enjoyed this version and understood how different it is from the other you reacted to. The other was good, this concert version was stunning. The power behind his voice stops me in my tracks. The whistle note on top of that is other worldly. The fact that he wrote the song just puts another layer of amazing talent to his credit. I truly believe Dimash to have studied and perfected his craft like no other. Someday people will study Dimash much as they study Beethoven, Mozart and other genius’s in history. This festival is arranged every autumn in honor of Almaty. 90,000 people attended the festival in 2016, the year Dimash participated - in 2017 - it was 150,000 and it was 200,000 in 2018. Dimash's welcoming consert, sponsored by Kazakhstan (or Astana, I'm not sure) took place in the summer and is the legendary Bastau concert. The record made by a male is one note over Dimash's. I can't remember his name. Usually, when he includes the whistle, it is a G7

Dimash's first solo concert took place on June 27, 2017 as part of the Expo 2017 in Astana with the title Bastau (Beginning) and was given to him by the city. Yes, the record is E 8 but it wasn't sung in any live performance or song.🥰

Thank you! Dimash has said that the D8 was spontaneous not planned. He just felt like it at that moment. :D
A little bit of behind the story of the song. When he composed this he let a friend of his hear the song. That friend happened to be the son of Oral Baissengir, the lyricist of this piece, and a well know poet. When Dimash's friend heard the song he told his dad Dimash had written a song and he had write the lyrics for the song. His dad felt at the time he couldn't write the lyrics until he knew what the song was about etc. It took some time (hinted about two years later), but Dimash finally presented the piece to him, Mr Baissengir listened, spoke with Dimash, and the song was born.

Начало меня всегда поражает! Ну как может один скромно одетый, тихо поющий человек собрать внимание такой огромной толпы? Никаких спецэффектов, танцев и т.д. Все предельно просто. Потом мое сердце начинает биться сильнее, когда он так искренне радуется общению со зрителями, а потом мой мозг взрывается, когда он поет такие невероятные ноты. Hi, Lukas, I have always enjoyed your several Dimash reactions. Please do more. I discovered Dimash only about 6 months ago, but I instantly became a Dear - Dimash fan. I have always listened to many different types of music, but no one, and I mean NO ONE, has ever given me goosebumps and chills every single time, like Dimash's voice does to me. I have a "need" to listen to his voice every single day. That's how powerful and magnetic his voice draws me to him. His voice brought comfort and joy back to my life and I don't even want to listen to anyone else now. I can have Dimash's songs on repeat and I am totally fine with that. That whistle tone he hit, at least several voice teachers/professionals even using sound meters to measure that tone he produced and it equaled to a D8, which is beyond the highest key of a piano. Dimash is truly an amazing artist and a very humble human being. He is also down to earth, kind, loving and respectful to everyone. He loves his family. Only love and respect for Dimash.
