  • Hugo actuallly seems disappointed that Harvey went for his coin, interesting.

    @RV-vx9ek@RV-vx9ek5 жыл бұрын
    • I think it's because out of all the villains Harvey was originally one of the ''good guys'',working along with Batman to bring those that normally avoided prison because they either bribed or scared people to justice.Sure he had his mental problem before the attack but he wasn't criminal or corrupted.If Hugo would've managed to cure Harvey he'd be a perfect ally for him,bringing more criminals to justice and thus giving Hugo more test subjects.

      @turskapete@turskapete5 жыл бұрын
    • Probably because it was the most obvious and expected outcome. From a scientific and psychological point of view, him going for the coin was boring. If he hadn’t gone for the coin, Strange would’ve made more progress with Dent than any other doctor who ever came in contact with him. Of course he doesn’t really care for his mental health or the actual wellbeing of his “patients”.

    • Well... Strange is after all a villain. Also if you noticed he clearly knew Joker gonna end up killing more doctors he sent to him or have them somehow dead outside his room, yet he kept sending them anyway. Shows Strange couldn't care less about the workers in the Asylum, all he ever wanted was to be recognised as the guy who successfully broke all major villains of Gotham. Eventually it turns out he was a villain himself trying to take over the city (just like everyone else lol get in line). Then again he was interrogating people that didn't care about human life either and Joker was so out of his mind for how he couldn't care less for everyone to die he pretty much just fabricated a story (or even telling the truth origin story of him) and knew Strange would just listen altho he knew it was just another story. While Joker just does things, Strange tried to grow stronger as he studies more about villains of Gotham.

He's this harmonic blend of every iconic Two-Face we've ever had; he's got his animated version's throaty, guttural voice when he's "Big-Bad Harv", he's got Tommy Lee Jones's appearance in his unburned side and Aaron Eckhart's voice as normal Harvey and his burned side.

In asylum the psychiatrists failed in the initial interaction to understand the complicity of the inmates and behaved as general human being with strict uncompromising consensus about the irregular symptoms of their behavior and have fallen to their minds defensive mechanisms. Hugo strange through unorthodox means exposes the inmates true motives, and in some cases and in some cases their obsessive means of salvation and ulterior grip of common sense and manipulates them to his own use.

    • Yep, but like Hugo said, Joker has specially gone through the trouble of making many fake origins. So when he eventually told most of the truth it was assumed completely fake. He did this because it fits his narrative that anyone can be him. Anyone can be as foul as the joker. By creating different origins, he manifests that being the joker is more than being an individual, but it's almost like a stage of life that only the most grief stricken can ever attain. Through pain, longing, desperation and despair Joker found power. That madness he found allowed him to be more than human. He is unrestrained and he has become free to do as he wishes. Joker became the ubermensch in his own way.

    • @@Deadlyaztec27 that's more like the various movie jokers, or very recent depictions. This idea that joker is this anarchistic mentally ill guy turned insane by his pain and rejection by society isn't really what the original comic joker was about (that includes cartoons and thus most Mark Hamill portrayels of Joker). The original characterization of Joker is that he is straight up a sociopathic serial killer and criminal, completely self-aware and calculating. Comics/cartoons have often played on the fact that Joker is not even actually "insane". In the end of the day, Joker commits murder because he can, without any deep motivations or poetic reasonings. He messes and plays with people just because it's simply entertaining to him. The only true drive he has is his obsessive hatred for batman, which is derived from fairly petty reasons when you consider the extremes he goes to. To quote the Joker himself from. DCUO: "let me tell you a story ... A bat saves a scorpion from drowning in a river.. but as the bat carries the scorpion out of the deadly churning water, the scorpion stings the bat! The bat cries why?! I tried to save you, now we'll both die! And the scorpion says.. that's the point sucker! (Laughs) I love that story, cracks me up everytime"

  • I gotta say, I really missed this Riddler. Even considering Strange taking control of the power dynamic towards the end, he was the one who had Strange on the backfoot in the beginning. How he had gotten nowhere near Strange, but managed to get so much information on him, it was like he was a fly on the wall - having Strange in a position he had so many other prisoners in. If he desired to, he could've ruined Strange's plans for Arkham City in a heartbeat if he released that information about him. Above all else, the thing that always defined Riddler over many other villains was his sheer intellect and his arrogance about that intellect. Both were displayed excellently here, and I much preferred that over bat shit crazy breakdown in Arkham Knight. He feels a lot more threatening like this, and I felt like his descent into madness made him far more toothless.
