    • So sorry for your loss 🌹 I had an eskie mix too and you're very right about the empathy and emotional intelligence part. Miss my dog so much. She was also fond of baby animals - kittens, ducks, etc. When I adopted her, she was in the puppy cage taking care of the babies. They take a piece of your heart with them for sure.

Watching your videos gave me the confidence to start grooming her myself, which I did for the last several years. The metal comb and high velocity dryer were a huge game changer. The shedding is really not as bad as you would think for such a fluffy dog, regular grooming really was a big help. It is so nice to finally see a little land cloud in your videos, and I wish Miko a long and happy life.

  • My brother and his family have one of these. He drove me nuts at first bc, when you walk in the house, the dog would NOT. STOP. BARKING. They have a toy fox terrier as well, and they would just feed off each other. If one barks, the other barks louder. Ugh. Now that the terrier is quite old, and he no longer hears well, he doesn't bark as much. Because of this, Rocky is much quieter. I've really come to like that little dog. He's SO SOFT, and he looks like he has a permi-smile on his face.

  • Just want to add that they have an amazing dirt-shedding coat! They can get really dirty, but when it dries it pretty much all falls off and they look fine. Never look grubby, although without a bath every now and again they can start to look just a bit dingy. My Sophie was a three-legged rescue with endless energy. I got her when she was six years old and she died at fifteen of a brain tumour. In between she was queen of the pack regulars with her dog walker, and definitely in charge of my heart. 💕🇨🇦

  • I have 2 mini Am Eskimo mixes that I found as approximately 2 wk old puppies. The mom (a pure bred) belonged to one of my mom's tenant. Basically, the tenant had left for a month and mom was supposed to be under the care of a relative when me and my mom found her roaming around outside. No one in that family knew she was even pregnant, let alone had pups somewhere. Since she was an absolute mess, I cleaned her up before I even knew she might have pups and she later led me to a small hole under the house. There I found 2 little fat sausages (didn't look like there were anymore) that I'm so thankful were still alive since I had the mom for almost 24 hrs at that point. While they were very well fed, they were being eaten alive by fleas and had these weird sores on their feet and tails (one was so bad, the vet thought her tail would eventually fall off...luckily it did not). I offered the owner that I'd nurse them back to health and take care of mom until they came back. They didn't want the puppies and I originally was going to rehome them, but I ended up bonding with them like I never had with previous dogs. So I kept them, but had to reluctantly give mom back to the owner. It was a sad situation...she deserved so much more, but nothing I could do for her so I did the best I could for her pups. Anyway....15 yrs later, they are still with me. Charlie (the boy) has a bunch of health issues now, but Mya (the girl) is actually still pretty healthy overall and doesn't even look her age. Physically, they look exactly like their mom did expect their ears are longer and flop downward (kinda like a Border Collie). And even though their mom was all white, they don't have a speck of white on them. Charlie has the black and tan color pattern of a GSD an Mya is all tan with lighter beige on her underside. So who knows what stray ended up being the dad, lol. They are gorgeous dogs regardless and always get compliments on them. Charlie always reminded me of a little wolf (and he used to howl all the time before he lost his hearing😢). Mya was always my nimble little fox cause of how athletic, yet graceful she looks and acts. I worry that when one goes, the other will follow shortly after, they are so unbelievably bonded to each other. My heart will be shattered when they go. They are unique little dogs, for sure...and like I said, our bond is very strong. I'm just grateful for every day I still have them with me. One thing I will say, is that they have a huge prey drive. They're mother never wanted to play with toys, she was just interested in anything that moved outside and she never forgot where she last saw something (their memory is crazy good). Very intelligent dogs...sometimes to the point of spiteful behaviors. 😂😂 Charlie is a lot like his mother, and it's not even learned behavior as he never got to see his mother do all the things she did, it's just genetics. Mya has a strong prey drive too, but she at least loves toys so I can distract her a bit with that. But cats, and especially small animals (rodents, birds, etc) are not a good idea with these guys. Otherwise they're awesome little dogs that I will treasure for the rest of my days. Sorry for the long post...it's just the first time I've seen this breed on your channel and, like a proud parent, I had to bring mine into it too. 😋🤣

    • @@Here4TheHeckOfItThank you for the kind words and I'm so sorry for your loss. I definitely won't be the same when it's time for them to go. I almost lost Charlie earlier this year, but he seems to be doing a bit better for now. Just that preview really sucked for me. I treasure every day that they're still with me. I never knew about this breed until I had them and they really are a tremendous joy to have.

  • I love this breed so much. As a kid, we were big on the "adopt, dont shop" because my parents adopted me, so when we found our first little spitz, Sasha the Diva, we loved her and when Sasha passed, we got Miles (after the legendary Mikes Davis because of his easy-going personality). They can be stubborn, but you'll be hard-pressed to find a better companion and friend. Great breed for also running around with good, energetic kids (they tire each other out).

  • Waiting for the episode where Vanessa does a Japanese Spitz, but this is super close! It's true about the coat though, and it rarely smells. I brush my dog once a week thoroughly and regular coat maintenance is mostly paw trimming and nail clipping. She gets bathed a few times a year with a groomer and can be maintained otherwise with brushing. Fabulous lovely little creatures!

The dog was a rescue, and he needed attention my friend simply will not give due to attachment/laziness. Every problem he hand waves and says "Its the breed". Thank you for showing visual proof these dogs can be well behaved, i wish My friend would wise up.
