Here is how to fix the ripped door skin. I can't find my tripod and doing this with one hand and holding the camera is a little unsteady. Please smash the like button and subscribe. Here is the link for the sewing kit. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08...
Ordered the kit from Amazon and it took about 45 minutes to sew up the arm rest on our 2013 Explorer. It looks so much better! Thank You!
That’s awesome. I’m glad you able to fix it.
What is kit name ? I need it
Doing mine tomorrow. They use the same bad door panels they have been using since 2012 or before up to at least 2019 in some models. Does anyone at Ford have any pride?
I just bought a used explorer with 2 giant broken in the arm rest (and used it as a negotiating point) because your video gave me the confidence to do it myself. Thanks for the help!!
Awesome. Very easy to do. My other side is ripping also and I’m getting ready to fix it. Subscribe if you like because I have other videos fixing the explorer.
Brilliant!! I paid $250 for a couple repairs a while ago. I thought about this but never saw this video. Just ordered the kit. Thank for posting this. 👏👏👏
Glad it helped
Bought the kit you recommended and fixed the armrest in my sons Explorer . I was nervous to try it but so glad I did!!! Definitely do-able, thank you so much!!!!!
That is awesome.
Where can I buy kit
Thank you.
Good idea to use superglue on the 1st/last stich to secure the knot (old fly tying trick)
Thank you for this tutrial! just made the repair. Well done sir!
I used fishing line for my 2014 Explorer because it’s clear and strong. It looks great, thank you.
Great to hear!
Have same exact issue with my explorer.... really appreciate you posting this video. Thanks!
I’m glad this can help you repair.
Thank you for your recommendation. I was about to use super glue, but this is a much better solution.
You’re welcome 😊
I was also about to super glue it but just ordered the kit instead... Can't wait to get it fixed!
Nice job. I would have never fixed it. Thanx
Excellent video, just what I was looking for my Explorer. Thank you

Hello, I was wondering what is the status of the Seacraft project?
Thank you!!
Hopefully this can help you fixing it.
Thank you for posting this repair. Same rips on my Ford explorer with this video I now know what to do. Thank you
My 2014 ford explorer has the same issue. I will try to repair it soon, all thanks to your video.
Good luck. Mine still holds up fine
My 2014 ford explore also has same exact issue. Same exact place
Mine too 2014 too
Where can I get that needle? I have to fix my door panel. Thanks for this helpful video!
In the description but here is the link www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08F23SJPH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=
I just went to Walmart and got a needle and spool of upholstery thread. I didn't know there was a kit. It cost about 4.00 dollars. These instructions worked perfectly and still looked good after 2 years when It got wrecked.
How well is this holding up for you? I had the same issue, bought my car used and looks like it was previously repaired with some sort of upholstery seam filler, and it’s splitting pretty bad now
Still hold up excellent and I can’t even notice it has been repaired. It is so easy to do. Good luck
@@SC-xk6uk thanks i got a sewing kit and going to try on my explorer!
@@Moriahkrause make a loop knot at the end use the needle and push in
@@SC-xk6uk thank you so much!!
Poor adhesive and very thin vinyl causes this issue. Well done!
Totally agree with there.
I tried to sew it, but mine didn't turn out as good. Is there some fabric I could put over the armrest to make it look nicer?
Sorry I don’t know any fabric that you can use over the armrest.
FORD should be ashamed of such a lousy design. My 2015 Explorer Sport has always been garaged, only 42K miles, and already has vinyl splitting along this weak point!
I like the Explorer, but the interior is not holding up at all. Inside the armrest all the foams are deteriorating. The third row seats stitching are coming apart. I posted a video on how to fix the rack and pinion bushings because Ford don't sell the bushings and they want you to buy the whole rack and pinion which is rediculous.
Having the same problem with my 2015 XLT little over 60,000 Miles.another one of Ford's engenierian master piece.
I have a fleet of Lincoln MKTs, They do this since 2013 or earlier. My 2018’s still all do this. I am sure Ford knew about this by 2014 but they continue to pump out the crap. Ford should be ashamed.
How bout 2019 350 HD passenger van how do you remove armrest
I’m not sure, but there should be a little clip in the seat where the armrest attached to and you have to push it down to pull the armrest out.
he likely has two holes on opposite sides of the stich by now. start 1cm outside the gap
What kind of string did you use?
There is a link in the description for the kit I bought from Amazon
What size thread 1mm or .5mm?
I don’t know the thread size, but here is the link to Amazon that I bought the kit and thread size is s perfect. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08F23SJPH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1#
I just used super glue. I thought about leather stitching it
I'll bring mine by tomorrow lol
Lol. If you can get here. I’m in Cape Coral and Ian left us a major destruction.
@@SC-xk6uk oh I'm sorry to hear that I'll keep you all in my prayers
Search for the same thing on eBay for less total price. The shipping bumps the price up on Amazon.
Thank you!
