    • actually it's not acurate for japan, this country actually had a lot of different styles depend on the genre. kinda different for america comic such as dc n marvel n then the variant korea manhwa who most of them actually had similar ways for eyes drawing (not identical the same way but similar for each other). . the variation eyes on jp manga was diff depend on the genre. that big oval round eyes was specific style called moe. it's popular around 20 years ago, well it's still had a lot of charm that's why people still had a lot of used that in current days. but it's not represent all of them was moe. you can see japanese manga on seinen (adult audience) level manga vagabond "you can just google it vagabond" or sun ken rock manga, shuumatsu no valkyrie manga, berserk manga, jojo manga, slam dunk manga, prison school manga n tons of other else who are in seinen style (adult audience style mostly men) and josei (adult woman audience) . big round eyes (moe style) mostly u can found on art style for shounen (teens) n kids and shoujo (woman teens) . but some of them (the artist) sometimes had different taste so they wanna be had diff charms using moe style who usually on kids n shounen but in gore horror adult level or sometimes makes them on porn hentai adult lvl but still on moe style. n viceversa there's some artist who using seinen m josei style (adult style) on shounen (teens) genre like fantasy, sport n stuff . but if they're just looking japanese style manga, anime n game on surface level they just only see the big round oval eyes style wich called moe style . if you compare this japan style on american or western style. in western u can see a comic like dc n marvel, and then u can see a cartoon genre like tom&jerry, loneytoons, disney, nickelodeon etc u can see their eyes comparement they're different because they're on different styles. if u like semi realism n complex looks like dc n marvel there's no way you like cartoon style. but why u think the western / american style was like DC/marvel?? why not cartoon eyes style?? it's origin by western / american why so double standard? . that's the same ways on japan. why generalize them on specific moe style, there's a tons of bunch diff styles on semi realism on seinen and josei but why? . even for korean manhwa n chinese manwa even most of them was similar on style there's a lot of them who had diff style as well. specially on chinese manwa u can found them using big round eyes style as well. . specificly generalize them this one is A country this one is B country on drawing was wrong. if u say the moe style eys of big round eyes was japan on majority in20 years ago well specifictly on 80's 90's n first 2000's this is true but on 2005++ there's a lot of artist who bored with this moe styles because to mainstream n they used seinen style on any things if they like.

  • Oh, rendering is like “blurring” two different areas together to create a smoother, more 3d look. Shadowing is just adjusting the darkness (and/or lightness) of the tone. Colouring is using colours to create ur artwork, ur own palette for ur artwork, to adjust intensity of ur work in terms of light vs dark colours. To make it a bit more complex, you can use colours to do colouring while shadowing at the same time (and rendering too), like picking a dark colour with a light colour to create the effect you want- then you can render both colours together if u want, to make a a more realistic look.

  • As someone who reads a LOT of Manga/Manhwa/Webtoon, Japan's artists are still great, but my God it's hard to top Korean and Chinese artists... Every Manhwa I have read has some incredibly gorgeous designed characters and after leaning more so Japanese my entire life in terms of art style, I now lean more Korean/Chinese. (Though all the art styles are great in their own sense). I'm someone who tends to lean more realism anyways with my personal art style, with a lot of detail, so I am more so drawn to those guys! You did great with your studies.

Maybe I just never paid attention to it but a few years back no one seemed to use that word. Ig generally speaking it's referring to adding details in shading and lighting and most artists that use it don't rely on lineart but instead paint over their sketch. I would interpret coloring as really just adding the base colors or if you're using grayscale transitioning from black and white to color. And yeah shading is making a drawing appear more alive by adding shadows and coming up with a light source. Anyways this was a really fun video :D As someone who speaks 5 languages I always use that technique as well when I'm looking for references. Somtimes there is nothing in english but a whole database of tutorials in another language so I'd definitely recommend doing it more often ^^

  • Coloring is adding color, you can be coloring and shading at the same time but theres a point in the process where you’re more rendering than coloring.. Rendering and shading don’t require color, but you can still be shading and rendering in color. rendering and shading are a lot closer to each other. rendering is far more detailed than shading, its the step that really adds the third dimension to the drawing and where things like the differences between core shadow and cast shadow come out. Shading is a lot more two dimensional, like just adding a layer of graphite onto the image. More like blocking out shadows and the basic dark part light part differences, a bit like the style of anime (I’m not saying anime is 2 dimensional or that its not 3 dimensional, its just not rendered. Anime uses other methods to do what rendering does.) and can help lay the groundwork for rendering. Hope this answered your question!

  • FYI, coloring adds "hue". warm vs cool, etc. Shading adds "value" (how light or dark it is, can overlap with coloring). Rendering is what you do to take it from a line drawing to something with dimensionality and volume. This includes coloring, shading, cross-contour lines... the things that take it from "line drawing" to something with depth and form.

    • @@shivamarya5225 what im saying is not that point, my argue is more her sentence for saying best eyes tutorial from country ABC. bcs that one sample for each was not represent for the country + it's vague for the meaning point (did she mean best eyes for her subjective oppinion for style? or did she mean for represent style from each country?). . because if she makes a compilation with that sentence like on title says which country draw the best eyes? and then making this videos, it's not enough for the sampling database for example : america : in the content source from america artist, actually she's using manga style eyes on JP, because the origin draw style for eyes on american or western there's two types. realism or cartoon style. that's why on superhero comics mostly they're using realism, n cartoon style for a cartoon comic or cartoon animation, if you looking the origin illustration from america and western there's always on realism looks like or carton, eyes looks like on the source was never happened. but why lately there's america n western artist who had style like that? because they like manga and anime and jp illustrator and then adopt that style for their influence. so if the source was adopting the styles from JP country artist, did that still called from america country even the artist was american? that's why i say vague. bcs the origin style from western n europe was realism and cartoon and u can never found in any superhero comic and cartoon animation who draw eyes like on the content (bcs in the content the origin american artist wast influence with jp manga style) . in JP country side : the source was using moe style eyes, but this one style was not represent of the copuntry itself (which is japan) because in JP country there's tons of style they had complex style on semi realism looks. for example vagabond berserk jojo sun ken rock prison school etc who called as seinen style (adult audience) style. n they're a lot. so it's not just moe style who usually on shounen n shoujo genre (teenage audience). but represent that one specific style to be country was wrong . if the audience/views doesnt know anything (noob/newb/beginner/lacking database/lacking of literature) and then watching this content. they think oh so the style like that was comes from america, style like those was comes from jp. that was wrong and it's missleading. . her sentence n the title must be the best drawing eyes tutorial based on my subjective oppinion *or something similar like that not the country. . bcs on america content source actually was adopt n influence using manga style, bcs the origin style from western was not like that. on jp moe style was born origin from jp itself but on jp style there's not just moe style who are using big eyes, there's seinen style and even on moe style it's so vast as well, so it's not represnt enough for the country . and ofc for korea n china n rusian as well. . if she's making a content for comparement which one is the best eyes draw tutorial on youtube based on her oppinion (not saying the country) this whole content of video was true. if she wanna say the country, it's for the credit of the artist, the artist was blablabla n she/he from abcd country. that makes the information not vague. but if she saying drawing eyes from jp/usa/korea and then giving one sample content source, the information was missleading bcs ppl will thinkin oh style like that was from country a country b etc. . and then even she's making a true content which one is the best eyes draw tutorial based on mine oppinion n giving the credit the source comes from blablabla n she/he from country blablabla. it's still wrong. bcs diff style had diff charm they had diff niches diff market u like realism eyes looks like more is not making cartoon eyes style below u like semi realism looks like is not making the moe style below judging this "A" was the best eyes was wrong (well if u based on ur subjective oppinion only it's ok tho) but for general was wrong. . it's more like drawing tips on internet do this dont do this for hair eyes folding cloth etc bcs it's okay there's no wrong n true, it's likes comparing cel shading and soft shading and painting and then she says painting was best one. this content was like that. . 1. using judgement from her oppinion only, her taste only, who is she? did she a big famous profesional artist for comic or illustration design? 2. easily misslead peoples by represent the country style because the source content was comes from artist comes from country "ABCD" . this 2 factor was makes the content becomes wrong.

Japan being the largest cultural exporter for decades and having tons of "soft power", made it so these other countries were entirely influenced by it. At least Japanese art culture made an attempt to transform away from the American/Disney style. These other countries are merely Japanese style done by Russians, Koreans or Chinese. There's nothing they create in these styles that some random Japanese artist hasn't already done before. Me being 44 and having lived in Japan and other parts of Asia for 23 years, I've literally watched Japanese art drastically change the style of these other country's comic book industry/illustrators. You should look be comparing the eyes from their art from the 30s to 80s to try and avoid the Japanese influence on their work. They're all essentially just drawing Japanese style, when all these countries actually have amazing art that is native to their art culture
