ABOUT THIS FILM
____________________
Quick start to the season
And it was a quick turnaround from one breeding season to the next. No sooner had this barn owl pair’s first chicks fledged the nest, then were beginning the breeding process again.
First they must chase away their first chicks
But before they could start a new family, barn owl’s Willow & Ghost had to chase their first chicks, Ginger, Cinnamon & Close away from the territory. This is quite normal behaviour for barn owls.
Then it's time to secure their nest
Before long Willow is seen scraping a new nest inside Sycamore Stump. This nest is a particular favourite of Willow’s and she was very raising her chicks last season because she waited for this nest to become available. Perhaps she is nesting early this year to make sure she doesn’t miss out on this nest again.
This means being prepared to fight
But she still has to fight for this spot. Watch what happens when another barn owl and a kestrel pair comes too close to the nest.
And laying sharpish
Willow wastes no time in securing the nest - and lays her first egg in January! Barn owls normally lay in spring so this is extremely unusual.
Male Finn keeps up supplies
Incubating this early has its hardships. For instance there is usually less food available. But the male Ghost works hard and as the eggs are laid, one every two to three days, he keeps up a constant supply of food for the busy mum-to-be.

Willow: TIME TO LEAVE CHILDREN, EVICTION EVICTION
This made me laugh out loud 😂
Also not allowed to be in the area where I lived
It's graduation day...real challenge ahead...
they weren't paying their cut of the bills
Willow throwing that tiny bit of food aside is hilarious. "I'm PREGNANT, Ghost! Get me an actual meal this time around!"
“Soon I see Willow chasing her owlets away” Willow: *straight up snipes owlet off branch*
Willow’s got so much personality. From refusing every single nest site except this one, kicking her children out of the area when she decided it was time for them to leave, and now being a little oddball laying in the winter. She knows how she wants things done and is determined enough to pull it off.
I heard owls were dumb.
I'm glad she's getting Ghost in line this year with his provisions
Happy to see Ghost stepping up with food for Willow, and it's a comfort they have backup from Robert should they need. Thank you for another lovely video, they make my whole month. 💖
Great 👍 glad you enjoyed it 😁they are doing well check them out on the live cameras
@@RobertEFuller ❤👌
I'm so glad to see Ghost being a better provider this time, and good for him in the winter too! Thank you soooooo much for feeding them when food is sparse!!
Really rooting for Ghost to learn from his mistakes. We're all a work in progress and parenting is... challenging to say the least.
He is doing better this year Parenting It’s a quicker process for a owl though 😀
The shot of Ghost hovering in the wind over the feeding post in the dark was amazing! So cool 🙈
Its so great to see Ghost providing more this time around!! With him being named Ghost and his partner being named Willow, maybe one of their chicks of this clutch should be named "Wisp" (like 'will-o-wisp'?)
They're already fledglings and are named Skye, Spirit and Echo. Wisp would certainly be a good name for one of the next brood though!
"The chicks have recently fledged and Willow's looking surprisingly broody." You could say she's experiencing...empty nest syndrome? 4:21 What a beautiful shot. It's always cool to see birds reach a stalemate with the wind.
Just watched this my two children (4 & 2) and they were transfixed. Beautiful film. Thanks.
That's adorable. It's great that you're introducing them to the beauty of nature so young!
I totally agree, I hope they grow to love and respect animals and nature because it’s amazing x
Love how Ghost hover flying in the post
Stunning pictures of Ghost hovering over the feeder. Thank you for sharing Robert!
I'm always delighted to see such clear images of the beautiful markings in their plumage. The colours are so subtle. Lovely video. Thankyou Robert!
I think you"re helping Ghost a little bit with the hunting in that weather. Good job.
Looks like Willow picked the right time of year to lat eggs. Ghost has found lots of food, as they are the only pair breeding right now ❣️🤞❣️🤞❣️
It's so exciting to watch this pair of barn owls. Thank you for filming plus telling their story. Makes all the difference....
Glad you enjoyed it 😁 plenty more to come!
Apart from David Attenborough your videos are the only other ones I actually love watching. You would make awesome documentaries honestly
Willow is such a beautiful barn owl! 😍
So Finn didn't pay a visit this time?🤣
3:01 I love those shots that show swirling vapor on windy days. 3:24 The shadow creeping over the tree, and Ghost hovering over his perch at 4:19 were also beautiful shots.
Kinds cute how all the birdlife treat that little nest like a timeshare property for expecting mothers!😊
Life is beautiful and cruel. It's filled with joy, happiness but also sorrow and pain. We humans have improved our lives so much with technology, inventions, law and order. But all other living things are still living hard lives. We all should do as much as possible for environment and lives around us. Just a small helping hand from the ones who have moved forward.
Ghost riding through the wind is so cool.
💕 How precious!! I didn't know much about 🦉owls until I started watching Mr. Fuller's videos🎥. Ghost& Willow make such a sweet couple, loving& taking care of each other. Especially, their eggs🐣🐣🐣!! 💝I love Willow's perfect round head☺️!!
My heart LOVES them so much! I'll never forget when Ghost and Willow met. And look at them now! BTW... I love the camera at the feeding post! Robert does a fantastic job on his videos! Thank you so much for everything you do! 🙂💞🦉
Ghost is such an all around good husband and dad. Come rain, shine or snow, Ghost is on it! I wonder when does he rest, because he was bringing food every hour, on the hour. Maybe there’re some humans like Ghost out there as potential mates.🤓
I can't wait for more owlettes!! And so it begins. Good luck willow and ghost. 💞
This is the most beautiful channel on KZhead. Where you live is gorgeous the UK is so beautiful
the 19th is just a day before my birthday HOW SWEET Its like the best present ever😁
🎂🦉
Ghost has improved i am happy for him keep up the great work ghost
Great video! Fantastic footage of Ghost hovering above the feeding post, really magical. 💫
Thank you Robert, i enjoyed it very much. Wilma from Holland
The barn Owls are my favorite birds 🦉
"It's the middle of January, I can't believe my eyes. I don't think Willow can believe it either..." Willow: *u wot, mate?*
Can't wait for the next video on ghost and willow.
It was wonderful watching all of this in real time on the streams 🥰 I can’t wait to see the next video seeing Skye, Spirit and Echo all grow up again!
I love the barn owl ones I love the barn owls!
Go willow
Willow, Yorkshires wonderful little rule breaker ❤
Do fledglings ever leave their natal territory and travel together? I knows some animals do this because a group is less vulnerable than an individual, but I don't know if any birds of prey do this.
Love barn owls with cute screech
😍 Willow is happy in her preferred nest site. Lucky gamble, having her brood so early paid off this year! (Of course, it's also lucky that she had supplemental feeding nearby- thanks to your efforts!) These three owlets have been a joy to watch grow.
Ginger: "But Ma, I dunno if I should commit to design school, go to a JC for a few years, or work at my friend's restaurant until I can land an acting gig and--" Willow: "GET OUT."
So beautiful !
Incredible view at 4:20 ! Thank you Robert.
Beautiful video.
I'm unsure if Owls mate for life however this Is so lovely to watch, thank you for uploading these videos 😊
willow girlbossing gaslighting gatekeeping that nest like a queen
Thanks for these amazing videos, stunning country have visited there many times on our holidays from Australia 🇦🇺
I wanna see more of Willow and Ghost videos!
Thanks a million for this wonderful video ! So very much appreciated !
Your videos are amazing, but the spirit behind them is really what makes them beautiful. Thank you for spreading care for our wild neighbors everywhere! ☺️
We have owls in the old smokehouse on the property. I found this out when we scared the poo out of each other one morning! I walked up, one flew out (head hight) and I hit the ground with a strangled "eep!" Now, I leave that area be as much as possible. 👍🏻😀🦉🦉
Aww So cute
Absolutely remarkable video. Really amazing moments all throughout and the production is just fantastic. Also, I remember Willow's (I think 2nd) egg hatching on the live cams! That's as soon as I discovered the live cams on this channel. Thank you, Robert. You have delivered so much enjoyment, education, and you've inspired me to spend more time outdoors with wildlife. I have a decent set of binoculars that were just lying around, I have a DSLR and a decent entry level telephoto lens kit, and I just absolutely enjoy it. I don't understand why at this point in my life I've become so captivated, but it's also served as inspiration to get through other things to spend time with my new "hobby" I suppose. Thanks for everything. Staying tuned!
Hi Robert, another amazing video, I love following the stories of your beautiful birds, animals and your wildlife adventures. I’ve especially loved the LIVE cams, following Willow and Ghost amongst many on there has been a real treat. Love your narration too on your videos, makes such a difference, really does and the music really completes each one……really love your channel xx
Lol, Willow sure is serious about that nesting spot. Hope she and Ghost have healthy babies this year.
This made me remember that one barn owl that ate its little sibling because its parents prioritize the baby owl. I fear that the owlets won't be fed enough and attack the newly hatched instead. But Robert said that this is common for barn owls and I think I'll try wait and see.
This brood of owlets are just about grown up now, and all 3 survived happily and healthily. The case with Solo and her sibling was a very, very rare event. Solo was young enough that she hadn't quite figured out hunting and fending for herself yet, and so in desperation she came back to the nest looking for food. She probably didn't even realize that the chicks were newborn owls, let alone her siblings.
Aww great video Ref. Love ghost and Willow 💖🦉🦉🦉
It's so beautiful!!
Glad to see Ghost picked up his game this year round.
Just came into owl watching. I love this
Thank you Robert for another beautiful video 👍👍
These videos are so lovely, the camera shots you get are stunning! Wanted to say thank you as I’m working on an animation for uni and some of the shots you got help so much with me studying their movements! What an adorable couple.
Thank you for the beautiful story ghost and willow are great parents
Beautiful owls💕
All in all I do love the magic of birds becoming parents, especially barn owls. The odds will be against them as it is winter so food will especially be scarce. I look forward to seeing them beating the odds.
You can see these birds on my live stream. The eggs hatched and the chicks have all fledged but you can see them spending a lot of time back in the nest box - kzhead.info/sun/gb2khd2LipyAop8/bejne.html
Thank you, so nice to watch Willow and Ghost! have a good time!👍
Good morning Robert
Really great, thanks for these vids.
What a beautiful video...Many Thanks! I've always wanted to live in England, but these videos remind me why I could not, Cold Cold Long Winters.
0:14 *boop* lmao
Happy to see ghost Very good sir 👏 👌 👍
So interesting... never knew that Barn Owls can lay eggs throughout the year. Second time around, is Ghost stepping up to his fatherly duties? Those nighttime images of the owls hovering into the wind above the snow-covered branch are just beautiful.
Ghost has done a great job - they chicks are all now fully grown and have all left the nest. They are still spending a lot of time in the nest but are doing great.
Poor Ghost xD
Great video thanks 👍
awesome video
Yay a new family to begun 😄😄😄💞💞
OH come on REF. DON'T keep us in suspense for too long!
Don’t want to do a spoiler bug check out the live stream you can see the owlets They had some tough winter weather to cope with the next video is going to be great
Still holding out for a children's book, Robert. 🤏 Much love and prayers to you and yours from your eternal sister in Christ somewhere near Seattle, aka, across the pond... ⚘🙏❤🙏⚘
I like this video
Swaggy
Early bird
How exciting! 😊🤞🐣🦉
I videoed one here in southern Illinois just two nights ago, obviously it was night time so I couldn't tell if it was male or female. Not too far from #castleridge in Centralia #llinois it's spring
Hopefully Ghost continues to provide for his family, I wonder where he went off to last time? Did he get injured while hunting or something?
💗💗
🦉❤️🦉❤️🦉❤️
🥰🥰

Hello Robert. Could you comment about the mother owls “claiming” their eggs by tapping on the egg with their foot? I can’t find any info on this but I’ve seen it in many of your videos. Thanks. Your work is amazing.
Bruh I never knew owls could just fly without moving 😵 4:20
🦅v s🦉
My chickens eggs hatched 🐣🐤🐣🐥
روعه روعه روعه روعه روعه روعه
I wonder if the mother gets tired spending so much time incubating.
🦉🌿🪵🎍🍄🐚🌹🥀🌚🌎
He proved himself? I thought he basically abandoned her halfway through last time?
He has done a great job at providing for Willow and the chicks this time. I think he was just very inexperienced last year.
@@RobertEFuller That was sweet of you to reply!
