    • It seems when he was doing those drills it was 1 bullet in the magazine in the gun and 1 bullet in the holstered magazine… just a thought but it could have been slamming home the mag with 1 bullet either off set the bullet or the 1 bullet sliding forward a little if it’s the smaller 9mms enough that it’s forward in the mag and not in the normal place and shifted forward enough to cause a small issue with seating.. I would be shocked if the mag he went to in the mag change had more rounds or the bigger size 9mm that it would happen… but maybe he’s conserving ammo lol… lastly whenever someone does a video showing a malfunction and has no clue why it is happening… we’ll mostly it’s a user error other wise anyone with sufficient gun knowledge would understand why it’s occurring and then also try a few different methods to incur the same malfunction… it seems to happen the same way everytime which would indicate it was the user or ammo (size) or in a 1 round mag change which nobody would ever do unless you have no ammo Lastly if you use a magazine as intended and understand how things work you would be able to avoid what you just saw

  • I’ve seen at least 100 reviews about the Echelon and the only problem that most have been magazine related, and more specifically that 20 round falling apart due to the base plate being assembled incorrectly. This is the first time I have seen this issue. Interesting. Mine has been 100% so far. Will have to research further.

    • Watching this has me intrigued. I pulled my Echelon out and wanted to replicate this issue. What I found is if you have the slide back as chili did and inserted the magazine with normal force it wouldn't chamber a round. When I inserted the magazine with a little force it would chamber a round every time. Could it be that during the mag change he's not inserting it with enough force to click/chamber a round? When you "slap" the mag in with force it is chambered every time.

      @m.garcia2353@m.garcia23535 ай бұрын

      @BrianMichaelP@BrianMichaelP3 ай бұрын
  • from watching the video, when the rounds didn't chamber, it appeared that you didn't seat the mag. Also, when racking the slide, do it with your palm down, you will get more muscle on the slide and you are able to pull it to the rear fully. Reaching over the top you don't get as much muscle on the slide and can short stroke it.

It only occured when slamming mags in super vigorously. Now, north of 3k the issues cannot be replicated with any of my mags, neither with 115gr or 124gr. Even if I beat it like it owes me money. Overall love the gun. 100% a keeper. I shoot it better than my ported 34. I hope it takes off in popularity. I got the large aggressive grip module and it changed the gun entirely for me.

  • The nose dive first round is because he is jamming it in there super hard, that causes the magazine to over insert and what happens is that first round literally slams into your ejector and smashes the round down nose first into the magazine then he drops the slide and boom malfunction, watch careful when he doesn't slam it home like a crayon eating marine it works great, this is a people problem not a gun malfunction problem some people are too ignorant to get out of their own way

    @3.eyes.open.@3.eyes.open.5 ай бұрын

I am a LE firearms instructor and I guarantee that I shoot just as much as you if not more, especially with pistols. If the slide is locked to the rear and you go to reload either use the slide release/slide catch or “slingshot” the slide by pulling back on it and releasing. If you are having issues when you begin using a proper reloading technique then contact Springfield and get the issue fixed.

  • Looks like the Gen 1 M&P premature slide release issue. It is why they extended the metal sub frame and added a detent to the 2.0 slide lock. The Gen 1 just had to much flex in the frame. Guys that really had a “positive or tactical” mag seating usually ended up dropping the slide without it picking a round up. As the guns got a higher round count on them they became even more sensitive and you could basically tap them on the side and the slide would drop. You can confirm by locking the slide back on an empty gun and striking the heel of the empty Magwell with your reload palm heel like your reloading. Most guns will drop the slide but you have to hit it just right with some pretty assertive force. If it’s sensitive like an old M&P it won’t take much of a bump. The other thing is the last round hold open on could only be half way engaging because the mag follower. If that’s the case then again your slide will release premature from a slight vibration or movement. Something to note. I’m a gunsmith. If a customer comes in with an issue with a gun I have to troubleshoot the issue or the customer or both. If I told the customer “I have the same gun and it’s ran flawless for 1200 rounds” that wouldn’t really work for them and it would just be awkward…..A single data point yes. It’s dynamic always with guns. Just because your Dodge Ram went 300k doesn’t mean that every Ram is a ringer. Also 4k on a modern full size polymer pistol is about the equivalent to your first oil change. Basically recoil spring replacement time. 40-50k rounds is comparable to 100k mile mark on a car/truck. With good maintenance intervals Glocks will go 80-100k rounds. 2.0 smiths 50-70k Sig’s people usually get rid of them after a year. XD&XDm about 15-20k before they start loosing pins/falling apart.

  • All manufacturers have lemons but you must have gotten a rare one because the reviews have been pretty positive and I sell out of them as soon as I get them in and have not had any complaints they have very good triggers , great ergos and the optic mounting system is the best of any other that I have personally seen outside of a custom milled slide. I know they had some issues early on with the base plates coming off the mags. As I understand it that problem has been addressed. All the 1000rd reviews and “torture tests “ I’ve seen have been passed with flying colors. I have seen Glocks have bugs or outright failures on many occasions but they are still quality pistols. I’m a CZ fanboy but even they have some issues from time to time. Overall I think the Echelon is a quality pistol that has a lot of promise. We will have to see how it preforms over time.

Turns out the small spring that sits behind the magazine catch plate moved and is now protruding through the magazine catch plate. sent it out under warranty. they are talking 3- 6 weeks before I see it again. poor design on their part. I may take a loss and trade it in. looking at the pricier FN

    • I found the problem. You were dropping the slide with 1 round in the magazine. There are no other bullets keeping the stack uniform so the mag follower is getting kinked. This was 100% NOT the fault of the gun or the magazine. OR the operator. It was a flawed test. But I think dropping the slide with only 1 round in the magazine is the problem.

  • I have the Echelon and haven't experienced any of the defects that you were experiencing. I've run about 400 to 500 rounds through it so far. That said, I've seen multiple reviews where defective magazines were an issue. Maybe you have an earlier version? I will say I changed my magazine bases with the NDZ aluminum bases, but that would not affect what was happening in your case. I'm thinking the pistol is fine, but the magazines could definitely use improvement. Hopefully Springfield will step up and correct the issue on any previous versions by offering free returns and replacements.

  • Seems like it’s not just you. I purchased the prodigy and it was the worst experience Iv ever had with a gun. By the time I got the gun I ended up change half the internals to get anything to fire. Then had to buy staccato mags for it because I was having issues cycling and then battery issues where the slide would never fully drop. Took it to gun smiths and ended up trading it in for a staccato since I had about 2600 into the pos and Springfield wouldn’t look at it because I swapped out the parts I assumed were the issues with atlas. However!!!!!!! I just recently decided to give Springfield their second chance and probably last with the echelon and have yet to have a complaint about it. Would I swap it out for my Glock. Probably not just due to my previous experience with Springfield.

  • You try some different ammo? Seems that it’s not reciprocating the slide enough to completely strip the new round from the magazine. This can also cause the weird failure where you can’t drop the mag because there is a half way stripped bullet stuck between your slide, frame, and magazine. It seems that may be the issue since when you drop the mag the slide goes forward

  • Slamming magazines is your problem. Slide the magazine in more gently and seat it with a soft click. Slamming magazines can damage the foot of the mag and even deform the top round against the bolt if the slide is forward. You are causing the rounds to bounce up and down against the mag spring just as the bolt comes forward. Slow down your reload.

  • There can always be ammo issues, are you using ball rounds or HP's? HP's will do that more often, also down load the mag by one round...

    @johnkoppi1960@johnkoppi19602 ай бұрын
  • I must admit, I've never done that kind of drill where you rely on the fact that slamming the mag in will load the next round. Not that there's any problem with that technique that I'm aware of, however, no matter what gun I'm using when doing magazine reload drills I always put the mag in and hope that it doesn't slam the slide home. I always (Glock, Sig, FN, Spring) have my thumb on the slide release and as soon as the mag seats I release the slide. Never had a problem doing it that way on any of my guns. Every now and then the slide will slam forward on it's own and I haven't had any problems. If I get a gut that's nearly impossible to release the slide with the slide lock, I quickly get rid of it. I have the Echelon but have only put about 200 rounds through it. I'll try to get mine to duplicate what yours was doing and report back. Thanks for the review.

The mags I think are made by Medgar which specializes in mags for many different Manufacturers . I've not seen any review have this problem before with this Echelon . I'd say the follower or spring is hanging up in the mag body somehow, not enough pressure pushing up towards the feed lips so the side can strip off the next round . Take the mag apart, see if something got into it, dirt, or a weak spring maybe. Number the mags see if it's just one or if others are having this same problem .
