Join us as Céline Salomon, a French ceramic and design artist, and recipient of the prestigious Industry City + Wanted Design International Residency in Brooklyn, NY, takes over the Amphitheater Hot Shop!
As part of her residency, Céline will join us as a guest artist to work closely with our world-class glassmaking team to develop her designs and vision in glass. The fluid nature of glass and the ebb and flow between artist and medium will be a captivating piece of the creation process.
Céline's Villa Albertine residency is presented in partnership withIndustry City + WantedDesign and with the support of the Bettencourt Schueller Foundation.
Céline Salomon
Céline Salomon is a French ceramic designer. After graduating with a degree in architecture in 2013, she made a change of scale a few years later by training in porcelain, notably during a two-year stay in Jingdezhen, China. Upon her return, she set up her own studio and created a series of tableware pieces. Architecture and nature are the dual sources of inspiration for her work. As an explorer, she then challenged the quiet strength of ceramics by combining it with other raw materials. This new impulse resulted in unique pieces of furniture and lighting that were soon exhibited in Paris, London, New York and Basel.

Celine took experts in the glass industry and told them to make a child's drawing of a container. To imagine this was made with so much effort... I honestly find it to be ugly and horrendous.
