Like how so many military/news channels are recently talking about how China was caught with missiles filled with water or how some of their nuclear missile silo wont open properly after there was a news article revealing said secrets. Or how one ship blocked the Suez canal for a week and there were many channels which talked about it at the time to stay relevant in the algorithm. (edited for spelling mistake)

    • Its not hard to see how. On Reddit and TikTok a few weeks back there was a weird spate of videos of US and British Nuclear weapons convoys. Both creators clearly saw that trend, saw the interest, and decided to capitalise on it by doing explainers. Sam did his usual quick and dirty HAI and Neo has done his typically more in depth production, which has taken a bit longer. Both are simply reacting to the interest shown on the internet to this topic.

  • When I lived up at Minot AFB it was common place to see these transports come in, usually in full convoy as described, but also incognito: unmarked truck with no branding or logos anywhere, standard license plate, but when you looked up you could see a helicopter WAY high up in the sky tracking it. No doubt there were unmarked response vehicles blending in and stationed nearby, but it was fun to see.

    @worsel555@worsel5553 ай бұрын
    • Drove past the latter a few years back. The truck set off my neutronRAE dosimiter. The helicopter was above, and the only things that were odd on the truck that had a satellite dish on the cab and heavier construction of the trailer.

      @christopherleubner6633@christopherleubner66333 ай бұрын
    • @@christopherleubner6633 unlike what is shown in this video, what you are describing is more accurate. If you go to the OST website you'll see a representation of one of the trucks. All of the people involved will be driving unmarked regular cars well in lead and pursuit of the truck and there will be a team inside the truck as well. When you pass by, you'll have absolutely no clue you just did unless you happen to be hyper observant. Even then, all you'll know is "huh, that's a weird looking truck." All these times folks have seen convoys of military vehicles they are 100% confirmed NOT moving a nuclear weapon. They could be moving conventional weapons, but they will never move a nuclear weapon or nuclear fuel on the open road. That is exclusively handled by OST.

    • They probably wouldn’t use an attack helicopter. The helicopter would probably only be there for surveillance and communication. You can see videos of nuclear convoys and the helicopters tend to be UH-1 variants, probably from the department of energy or another federal civilian organization. When not in military use such as transportation, US law requires nuclear weapons to be under control of a federal civilian organization, notably the department of energy.

  • Although some models were wrong like hinds as the helis for some reason it was pretty spot on. I have seen at least three dozen convoys on I-80, I-25, or some dual-lane highways. Some corrections that I have seen is the trucks when empty will generally be by themselves with no escorts since nothing is in them. If they have something the convoy is split up into 4-5 separate zones. You have a 3-5 Humvee, bearcat, and communication vehicle upfront. Mid is a dozen or so bearcats with 2 communication vehicles and a humvee or 2 and the load. The rear is usually mirrored the front with a 3-5 combo. I see more single UH-1s than a pair of UH-1s circling above. Another thing is they hardly ever block multiple lanes since they generally move at a max of 55mp anywhere. If they did the state Department of Transportation would get mad at them causing a moving roadblock. On and off-ramps are blocked off when the convoy is near an exit for security reasons. It's pretty cool the see them and they are more common during spring, summer, and fall time for optimal road conditions.

    @IDFCommander714@IDFCommander7143 ай бұрын
    • Yup they don't block the road, just stay in the outer lane. The ones I've seen had the middle two vehicles with 50 cal guns mounted on them. I'm guessing they use whatever is convenient though. First one is definitely a communication in all of them as that one has a small satellite dish on it. Also they generally have a regular state patrol car in front to deter people from cutting them off.

  • Nicely done. The only adverse comment I have is with the helicopters. Those appeared to be Soviet Mi-24's, not US AH-64 or AH-1's.

  • I appreciate that this topic was covered twice this week and this video by neo had much better explanations while HAI was a cliffs notes version. I find it interesting how there's so much security about transporting nukes through publicly available information, but what would make me laugh if there's still classified information that all of this stuff is merely a decoy and there's actually a second truck in front or behind with unmarked cars transporting the actual nukes...

  • Working late in the Tritium facility one night, I knew the transport truck was on site, but you never know when they are going to load. When my shift was over, I started walking toward the exit facility. You are told to challenge anyone without the proper badge and as I proceeded, I met two men that were kind of grungy looking. Something uncommon in the facility. After being distracted by their appearance, I realized they did not show the required badges. As I turned around to challenge them, I noticed one had a sawed off shotgun strapped across his back and the other had an Uzi. I decided that was all the identification they needed.

  • My friend's parents transported nukes back in the day. His dad was a truck driver for the CIA and his mom worked for the Secret Service and ran security in follow cars. They operated primarily out of Pantex in Amarillo, TX. His dad would tell us crazy stories. He said there is a tunnel that goes from Arkansas to Connecticut. His mom told us that they rarely ran into problems but there was one time late at night driving through the Vegas area where some bum tried to stop them. She said they drove right over him and never stopped. I can only imagine the shit they've seen. She also said they rolled low-key. They had 1 semi and 2-4 security cars with enough firepower for a small army. My dad also worked at Pantex and said the trailers that carried the nukes had a foam system installed that if anyone tried to steal the nuke this system would go off and fill the entire trailer with foam in seconds solidifying everything around the nuke. He said they had one go off once without a nuke in one and they ended up having to bury the trailer because it was useless after it went off.

    @keybrent64@keybrent643 ай бұрын
    • One got rear-ended a while back and it tripped the security system. They disconnect the cab and strap the trailer to a huey and drop it off at the nearest AFB. Then they open it there to remove the cargo. The trailer is scrap metal afterward. The weapon of choice to open is a heavy-duty cutting torch. The foam is the same consistency as the Great Stuff foam you can get at a hardware store. Decanning one takes the better part of a day to do. 😂

    • Can you verify the tunnel story? That shit blew my mind when he told me that. His dad said they would haul nukes underground from Arkansas to some navy base in Connecticut so they could load the nukes on submarines. This was back in the late 70's to early 90's when his dad was driving. Are you from the rillo area too?@@christopherleubner6633

  • i feel like the potential for WW3 these days have sparked some articles to talk more about nukes and therefor inspired both this video and the one from HAI. the timing of the videos is crazy, but I'm glad that they both told it differently with different topics and amounts of detail. Its quite worth it to watch both videos
