I really love that Scott is friendly with his ex-wife and her new husband. I don’t see enough portrayals of amicable exes.
Seriously. He's close with his daughter, on friendly terms with his ex and her husband...why don't we see more of this in Hollywood?
@@lindseysquire8417 probably because its more rare and people wont be able to relate to it as much but i agree i want to see more of this sort of dynamic, its so wholesome and gives me the happy feels 🥰
@@lindseysquire8417 because it damn unrealistic.
Because it's as fake as everything else in Hollywood
People be talking about unrealistic in a film about ant-man.
Not seeing anyone else mentioning it, but Hank's 15 minute "timer" in this movie, unlike so many other movie timers, actually ran for 15 minutes. How does that not merit a win?
I’ll give it a win: a realistic timing win
Emanuel Rojas (Ding)
Okay but based off of endgame shouldn’t of it like moved like 5 seconds in the quantum realm tho?
It's like in Avengers 1 when the missile has 2'30" until it goes off, and that's the exact real life timing as well.
@@ryanweaver5065 It seems like time in quantum realm is not that straightforward. For example, it was never discussed how long Janet was in the quantum realm, and she definitely was there longer than couple of days. It probably was comparable to the time she was there from macro world's viewpoint, because they didn't really seem to notice the difference. The first movie established that quantum realm is a place where time and space do not matter. With space that really seems true, as it doesn't seem to matter where you enter it, Hank for example was able to find Janet. But with time it seems more like there could be so kind of jump points (for example created when the tunnel is used), and Scott accidentally fell into one that lead to the point in time the mouse activated the tunnel in Endgames.

"We don't need familial conflict in addition to narritive conflict." THANK YOU! Feels good that actually hear someone else say it.
Yes! It's most apparent with romantic relationships, where sequels always have them broken up. You can have conflict and be a happy couple/family!
Exactly!
Very much this. Also, specifically, I LOVE that the stepdad is just overall a good guy and gets to be a part of the new family structure instead of just being an obstacle to our protagonist getting back together with his ex in the end. As a stepson of a wonderful stepdad that makes me really happy.
honestly, their family dynamic reminds me of Scott and his ex-wife's family in the Santa Clause movies. First movie they have some conflict because he's jealous, but next movie he's just a part of the family and is friends with the new husband.
That's one of my favorite "Wins" that he's written.
Ant Man is just the most lovable character ever. Everyone loves him. He still has a good relationship with his ex wife and her new husband, his daughter adores him, the villian gives him a chance to answer his daughter's phone call, even his parole officer considered dating him.
Dating? I assumed he wanted to learn the magic tricks and just liked him overall never thought woo saw it that way 😂
@@WILLINGLYWILD yeah because he didn’t think about dating him lmao

Bisexual Jimmy Woo and Scott Lang for the win!
One subtle thing that I loved- the movie is called Ant-Man and The Wasp. Scott and Hope, sure, but also Hank and Janet. It's not a coincidence that the climax splits them up into two Ant-Man + Wasp pairs.
Never noticed that, thanks. That's neat
I realized at some point that it also applies to the other two pairs. Hope has clearly spent some time being trained by Hank, and the two are like a dynamic duo of criminals during the first part of the film. And Scott’s connection to Janet is the reason the entire movie even happens in the first place.
@@theillusionist1494 So it is actually "ant mans and the wasps"

One thing I love about the _Ant-Man_ movies is that they're lighthearted family comedies where the superhero stuff is almost secondary. It's the same thing that makes _The Incredibles_ so endearing.
LOL if you think the first Incredibles was lighthearted... for me that's not what made it endearing. I liked that it wasn't afraid to play with complex themes, and it's without question the darkest movie Pixar ever made. The second movie kind of shits on all of that and turns into a straight-up comedy with no complexity, but if that's your thing then whatever.
Great, now you've made me want an Ant-Man/Incredibles crossover. Thanks.
Aren't all superhero films just genre films with the tagline of superhero?
@@mannersmakythman Agree. This was more like Fast and Furious meets Honey I shrink the kids.
@Ike Okereke, that's what's made the MCU in particular so successful over such a long period of time, I'd say. The DCEU hasn't found that pacing/structure just yet.
You probably know this, but David Tennant was actually the inspiration for Scott to cry over TFIOS. During Comic-Con one year, he was asked "which Avenger do you think would cry while reading TFIOS?" Immediately, he responded: "Ant-Man"
Omg that's brilliant!!
H
What's TFIOS?
The fault in our stars
@@timidturkey2777 Thanks
One thing I really liked about Ant Man and the Wasp is that it's got one of the most simple, yet perfectly paced and streamlined plots of the MCU movies. Plus we got to see Hope being even more of a badass hero now that she suited up as Wasp, than in the first one. There's no complicated story that sets up why a villain is fighting the hero. Ava wasn't really that much of a villain in the typical sense. Yes, she was mad that Hank had her father discredited and fired, but really her main motivations are to heal her chronic pain and prolong her life.
I suppose you have a limited time frame, but something else that deserves a win. The scene where the Ghost talks about kidnapping Scott's daughter, and Bill puts his foot down saying he will not under any circumstances help with abducting an innocent child. That moment really cements that Bill is a good person who just happens to be in opposition to the movie's heroes. Bill is willing to do things to Hank, but the movie makes it clear most of us wouldn't be stand Hank Pym in real life either. Bill and the Ghost come off like another superhero and mentor duo. The Ghost is a child how had a science accident that gave her powers that are killing her, in some part thanks to a jerkass scientist, lost her family, and she has a fatherly mentor helping her in her efforts to stay alive and cure her condition. Given the MCU's love of poking fun at movie conventions I feel this them intentionally creating a duo who would be the movie's heroes under different circumstances. Agent Woo is somebody who would have been so easy to make more antagonistic a character, and while I get that corruption in law enforcement is a huge issue in real life, hell this movie has some corruption in the FBI, he's far more memorable character by being a good law enforcement agent who is just doing his job. Plus he wouldn't be nearly fun a character if he were made a full blown villain.
That was absolutely one of my favourite moments too.
Yes! It was a perfect "hero-is-too-powerful-so-lets-use-a-family-hostage" cliché dodge. I loved that.
@@noonoe2000 The last movie already had Scott's daughter held hostage, we didn't need to see that happen again or it would get old. Look at the Sam Rami Spider Man films and Mary Jane getting held hostage at the climax of each movie. It cause people to complain she was a bothersome damsel in distress.
i also like that while the villains weren't given the whole, "its not their fault its their past!" problem, while still making their motivations somewhat more relatable.
@@johnfeeley6982 There really wasn't a real villain in the film, that's awesome.
I'd give a win for the protagonists helping out Ava in the post-credits scene. And for Ava both not getting killed off and not going 'full evil' but being pulled back from crossing the line, and without her menter/father figure being killed off either.
God, yes.
Aside from Ava's flashbacks and the bit at the end, nobody dies in this movie. On the whole it's just a great movie for people that think box mazes are fun and shrinking powers are cool.
You spelled mentor wrong.
@@thresherGnat WELL noboby Dies ON-SCREEN, or PERMANENTLY. after all they could say Ghost and Bill got snapped too. just saying.
@@ianr.navahuber2195 Ghost could actually be explainable as someone who could have gotten snapped, but didn't. Was she "out of synch" with the physical world at the moment of Thanos' snap, and thus was rendered unaffected by it, similar to how Scott was rendered unaffected by being in an entirely separate "universe"??? These are good questions that need answering, and Marvel could have some real fun with these questions in the probable third Ant Man movie!

I've seen a lot of comments about people appreciating the simplicity of the stories, the fact that there isn't so much darkness, that it's a simpler story, and I love that, too. It's great to just enjoy a film and enjoy the unexpected than to be taken on an emotional roller coaster. Who needs that kind of stress when we have it in real life? The Ant-Man movies are my favorite in the MCU.
I know I'm a year late but straight up. Sometimes it's just fun to see heroes do hero stuff, that's what I loved about homecoming.
@@sam_sleeper OMG SAME I WAS GONNA BRING HOMECOMING UP
The new spider movies and ant man really do their best at that. My favorite marvel movie is iron man bc of plain nostalgia and childhood memories, but second goes right to ant man.
One of my favorite parts of this film is how well-characterized Ghost is. She's not doing what she does for power or glory or money or revenge, she's doing it because if she doesn't, she will literally die in the most painful way possible. She's not diabolical, she's just desperate, and that makes me love her all the more. Plus she's like, the most beautiful? So points.
YES!! I hope we see more of her in the MCU.
Because dying justifies killing other people or past sins... It's still bad motivation.
@@pixelanarchy1711 An evil-esque motivation to be sure, but not a badly written one.
@@pixelanarchy1711 There's this thing called empathy, you should try it.
Yes! I just loved her development. She starts out as a child who became the victim of an unfortunate accident that killed her parents and left her with a terrible power that she couldn't control and caused her great pain. She was willing to do whatever for someone to cure her or kill her. She even trained to be an assassin and a killer in hopes that they would fulfill their promise to end her suffering, which they didn't. Everyone that said they would help her didn't so when Foster was holding back on not wanting to kill Janet, she began to panic and become more desperate. But you saw the good in her even in these desperate times when she agreed with Foster that kidnapping Cassie to blackmail Scott was too far. Everyone she trusted to help her didn't so you can understand how desperate she was being only days away from being torn apart cell by cell. Then when Janet returns and gifts her QR energy, she begins crying as someone was finally able to help her. We see throughout the movie that she's not proud of the killing she's done but is just being forced to do them through desperation. And now that she's safe from dying for the meantime, she's willing to face her consequences. In the end, she finally finds people that can truly help her and finds her place. Eva is definitely one of the best developed villains we've seen from Marvel. Can't wait to see her in Infinity War (hopefully). I also just love her powers, how she uses them, and how they're portrayed on screen. I love seeing her "glitch" with powers causing her body to separate and appear in multiple places as she's making decisions or is stressed, tired, or suffering from a lot of emotions.
THANK YOU!!!!!!!! SOMEONE FINALLY SAID IT!!!!!!!! I hate when there is random conflict at home along side the conflict in the story when people are aloud to just be happy. I love you.
Allowed, 100% agree.
i hate the cliche of the divorced couple getting back together after the new husband is killed/revealed to be a shit, like San Andreas or 2012. in Ant-Man Paxton is a good dude & scott and maggie both know why it didn't work with them...and that's ok!
@@Braincleaner yeah! And not to mention it’s way more realistic then “crazy stalker murderer ex” and usually now that I think abt it every main character with exes say their old exes were “crazy” honestly if that were real life…. Most of the time the main character would’ve been the problematic toxic ex lol.
I love the ambiguity in the movie. It's established that Hank kinda fudges the retelling a bit, like when he talks about how Scott got involved with them to make it seem like Scott was just a random burglar instead of one Hank specifically hired to break into his own house. Between that and Hank's numerous problems breaking up with past colleagues, it makes it absolutely believable that perhaps he's wrong about Elihas being a traitor. It's further cemented by Ava's motivation simply being that she's dying. Her condition's going to kill her. She's lived her whole life in pain. Now she's so close and she's desperate, but Bill draws a line at one action she wants to take in particular. And she backs down when he talks her out of it. This is some true moral ambiguity, not the half-assed "Well maybe Thanos is right to kill half of everyone" stuff. These are real people in really bad situations trying to do what they can despite it making them criminals. And that applies just as much to the Ant-Fam, too.
Jimmy Woo was such a funny part of this movie. I’m beyond happy they brought him back for Wandavision
One thing I can add that I really liked about this film is the fact that there are no traditional "bad guys". The two antagonists' motives aren't truly nefarious. Burch is just out to make a buck with secret tech and Ghost is about self-preservation. Thanks to Foster, she only borders on Machiavellian methods. Plus, Goggins is so awesome that he makes Burch likeable. This movie was cast so well on almost all levels.
Also, the stakes aren't traditionally "high," like in most superhero movies (ie. they aren't saving the world). It manages to be a really engaging action movie without making the conflict and larger than a couple of people's lives, which is absolutely tiny when compared to the Ultrons, Thanoses, Ronans, Lokis, etc's goals in other movies.
Goggins somehow made a homicidal rapist kinda likable in Predators
Well stealing someone's tech to make a buck because you are too lazy to find another qualifies as a bad guy because it's inherently wrong to use greed as an excuse for anything.
I love how you always win the hugging. And the kindness, and generosity, and compassion, and the characters being nice to each other in general, but I have a particular soft spot for hugs so... yeah. A win for you ;)

@@ghanighetok You're acting like Infinity War didn't have a joke every 5 seconds still. Ant-Man and the Wasp a fresh of breath air, how? 20th movie and it still feels like the 19 movies before it. Airport scene in Civil War was non stop jokes and heroes were fighting each other. I'll give you Winter Soldier though, that's still the best MCU movie and maybe for the reason, that it didn't have as much humor as every other MCU movie and it did come out the same year as the funnest MCU movie, Guardians.
@@cgmshow1871 Nothing wrong with fun but I don't need everything to be fun. I like Batman vs. Superman and Bladerunner 2049 for their substance. I want fun movies to be good still, people like Jurrassic World because of how fun it is and I don't, I think it is a bad movie and that is why we get nervous when we see the word fun too much. It'd be nice to see some subtext and it's better structured movie when there is weight to it. A movie is also better when it knows what it wants to be. Most "fun" movies try to be everything and that just doesn't work.
Can we get Micheal Peña always a win status
Do it.
Thank you for your words on not needing familial conflict. I totally agree. 👍👍
"Everything great about Ant Man and the Wasp": *The Whole Movie*
Fun fact: I yelled at the scream about how mean it was when the question mark appeared, my friend, who has seen three marvel movies none of them infinity war, looked at me like I was crazy
Me: I’m going to do my homework with no distractions. KZhead: CinemaWins uploaded. Me: Aight cool I’ll use that as an incentive to work faster so I can watch when I’m finished because I am a responsible student.
WaterlemonTheArtist oh wow did not see that ending coming
WaterlemonTheArtist Isn't it Thanksgiving break, though?
Sam Bridgers Yeah, but that doesn’t mean anything to AP World History teachers...
WaterlemonTheArtist Oh, yeah. I forgot.
Hahaha. No.
your channel is one of the MOST POSITIVE channel in KZhead...
Me, coming back after watching Wandavision ep.#4 and seeing Woo do close-up magic with his card: "I understood that reference."
I really like the (Ava) MCU Ghost. Comics Ghost was more of a creepy thief stealing from Iron Man. But this Ghost was a lot more personal and sympathetic. The story didn't need her to go to the dark side, like going after Cassie (cause they already did that in the first movie), she's just a person in constant pain who's been used. I'm also glad that Janet helped her. This year we had great MCU villians like Killmonger and Thanos, but I think Ghost is still pretty great. I think MCU is learning to make better villains. Her conflict is more personal salvation rather than political entitlement. I hope we get to see more of her and Bill (Lawrence Fishbourne) in future MCU movies, possible a "Thunderbolts" movie (Basically they're like Suicide Squad).
Dc sucks
I think you may have forgotten the lessons Sam Raimi taught us: a loved one of the hero MUST be kidnapped/put in danger by the villain at least twice per movie.
@@JaelinBezel I disagree with that statement, though the Raimi movies are still great
@@SalamanderMan319 no it does not. You're talking about the DCEU.
the fact that the mid-credits made EVERYONE cry.... well done Marvel!!!
????
I really liked Ghost. I’m glad in that ending scene that Scott mentioned about them helping Ghost by going into the Quantum Realm. I hope she becomes like an anti hero
Who else wants Luis, Korg, and Drax sit down and talk for hours?
That wasn't assault, that was sodium chloride
That's Sodium consummated by a Chloride.
A-Salt = assault. Genius
RIP Stan Lee :( Excelsior
Watching WandaVision, the Fed learned closeup magic because of Scott xD
18:12 James Rhodes (War Machine) also survived so Scott Lang isn't the only non-OG Avenger left standing after the Snap.
He's in the MCU since the first film, so he kinda is an OG Avenger
Really enjoyed this film in the cinema when it came out. I personally think it's better than the first but that might be down to my own cinema experience. I enjoy how quickly this film jumps into the 'heroing' because it's not an origin story and its fun to watch established relationships grow. Everything feels familiar but remains new. Great movie and great video. Please can you finish the Hunger Games series and maybe do an EGA Coraline xx
Also, did I mention that the first big action fight is centred around two badass females? Win
is almost as bad if not worse than the first one
@@CabezasDePescado Nah it isn't but well it is your opinion and your opinion is garbage according to me.
This movie felt so underestimated to me. I mean it was great they used the shrink tech very creatively and didnt feel like there were missed opportunities and overall was just forgotten.
The magic card tricks actually got repaid like three years in advance with Agent Woo
Watching this with my grandma and aunt in the theaters felt like magic.
My favourite part of this movie? It ties in perfectly with both Agents of Shield and Agent Carter. Tobias Ford in season 1 of Shield gets caught in an explosion that traps him between dimension, leaving him limited control over his intangibility and invisibility. Season 2 of Agent Carter has Doctor Jason Wilkes is exposed to matter from another dimension and again becomes intangible and invisible. The Season 4 of Shield has even more of ghosts, this time created using a book of magic, combined with more dimension-tech. I mean really, Doctor Foster should have enlisted Fitz-Simmons, they already solved this problem.
Also the truth serum joke comes from AoS season 1!
wtf
To every one saying first..... BLUE SHELL!!!!
Haha. 😂😂😂 now that's a hilarious comment
Mario kart refrences are alwaysa win.
This comment wins!
*My Leg!!!!*
That's really clever. I'm going to use that
The happy family/non-crisis thing? Hell yes. It's such a tired cliche that I've actually stopped watching a few movies when they've gone down that route.
While I love the question mark teaser, I think it would've been way more impactful if it simply said "Ant-Man will return." with no Wasp.
You say that ant-man is the last standing non OG avenger but isn't war machine still alive? He didn't become an avenger until the end of age of ultron so he's definitely not an OG avenger
And rocket if you count him as having even become an avenger in IW
Yeah, but the way I see it is other than Rocket and Lang, all the remaining main heroes are from phase 1
Standing was in quotes, as in, he's the last OG avenger with the ability to physically stand unassisted (War Machine was crippled in Cvil War). also, Rocket is a guardian, not an avenger.
Well he’s an og character
He's still been there since day one, movie one.
Hey... Seeing as how Baba Yaga was said frequently in this movie... Maybe John Wick soon? Please?
The boggieman will come for you....
John Wick's new dog got snapped by Thanos.
that bass sound in “I Shrink, Therefore I Am” (the chase scene) absolutely HAS to be in some way, shape or form, a reference to The Locust. That’s the only time i’ve ever heard a PLL or Data Corruptor used like that. Has to be.
18:12 "only og avenger left standing" plus rocket and nebula. maybe others, perhaps ive also missed a cpl. I am so glad you pointed out the lack of the unnecessary familial drama/conflict. love the much needed positivity that you alwsys bring!
1:21 This may be my South Korean heritage rooting for a fellow countryman, but ever since Randall Park's SPIRITED performance as Kim Jong Un in "The Interview," I knew he was gonna go far. He will always be a win in my book.
Honestly, at this point I just hope to live long enough to see Abby Fortson play Stature for the MCU.
I'm rewatching all the marvel videos in anticipation of the eventual End Game masterpiece.
I like the Father-Daughter relationship of Scott and Casey even though we only see them in a few scenes. They're cute together.
