The Best RWD Car Collection in Britain? BMW M engine swaps & Drift cars to Modified 911s
The Best RWD Car Collection in Britain? BMW M engine swaps & Drift cars to Modified 911s. This is a Seriously Modified RWD Car Collection. In this special episode Jonny Smith is invited by DriftWorks' co-founder Phil Morrison to look around his eclectic modified car collection. The old industry building houses both drift demonstrator cars old and new, plus Phil's selection of heavily reworked and engine swapped cars. Don't presume this is mostly a JDM fest, as his taste dives deeply into German, Italian and American machinery.

Good work Phil. A natural on camera these days :D This video was one of the quickest 30 minute watches I've ever had. Time flew by!
Really glad you enjoyed the mix of machines, and didn't assume it would all be JDM and drift. We always try to make the film flow quickly, so you don't realise how time flies! Welcome aboard TLBS.
Well done Phil, nice to see this. at the start Jonny is visibly delighted to have you on his show, two of the strongest car channels, keep doing what you do 🙌💚
@@TheLateBrakeShow b😂 😊😅😢gt5rvvf😢😢.🎉🎉😢😢😢
Thanks for all the kind comments guys! I'm so glad we finally made it happen. Thanks again Jonny 🙌
Absolute pleasure. What a stash of motors!
Solid dude, super strong stable, super knowledgable and the personalisation and fact he is such a driver makes it all the more special.
Perfect car collection. Love how the low rider Impala just rubs against, juxtaposes, the grain!
Brilliant video and great collection driftworks
Brilliant!
Holy shit! How awesome is that exhaust manifold on the E46 😮 That is art in its self.
Isn't it Just.
That manifold on it's own could have it's own channel - Looks very cthulhu
Well worth watching there videos on the design!
Love the porsche most 😃
My favourite cave so far!
That's great to hear. Which car of Brummy Phil's was your favourite and why?
@@TheLateBrakeShow the E30 M3 since it's got a proper engine instead of the lame S14.
there are times i feel poor as f-----;))
Opposite for me, definitely my least favourite.
This is the ultimate cross over for me. Two best youtube channels in one vid!
I know I'm weird but that HiLux is perfection, beautiful!
Be great to have a follow-up sat in the leather chairs all about Driftworks and how it came into being etc
The work that has gone in to getting the Murcielago the way it is insane. Way more comprehensive than just fitting a bumper and wings. Entire front had to be reworked, front clip and suspension, also the door hinges had to be relocated and engineered from scratch. The result is jaw dropping without knowing the extent of the work, but knowing how much time and effort has gone into perfecting it made me appreciate it even more. 🙌
The E46 manifold is a work of art. Amazing how far he's come since the side exit on the S14 😂 Huge respect for Phil's tasteful eye on all his builds.
I actually can't believe there are people that are into cars that haven't heard about DW. So glad this episode has opened DW to more viewers. Keep up the great work DW and Jonny!
Cheers v much
Damn i feel old remember reading about the 86 nascar in a magazine years and years back
I saw Phil driving his Murcielago on the roads around Wildmoor, Bromsgrove and my jaw nearly hit the floor. Such a wicked machine.
Who remembers the driftworks documentary they went to Japan "the outsiders" ? Really got me into drifting and jdm car culture 👍
Phil is a proper fucking hero… massive petrol head and superb engineer. His cars are without exception, amazing.
Watched Phil’s KZhead channel for years what they do to cars is brilliant
I’m not normally a fan of modified cars but love the engineering in some of these. Fantastic craftsmanship and skill. Exhaust on the V10 E46 is a work of art 👌
hands down the best collection out there
What makes Phil great is that he really builds these cars for himself! And with his own hands and with his friends. This is special. The pasión to invest your time and money into a collection like this because it’s what you want is incredible. And to run a top brand and have family! Bravo 👏👏If you need to find someone to motivate you in life It’s Phil.
I love cars whilst knowing nothing about cars but what I do know this is as close to my perfect collection of cars. Great video
You know what I like the most about this? All the comments of "I don't like modified cars normally, but..." As Phil and his cars are a really good example of what modified cars should be, which unfortunately is a world away from what most people imagine or see most days. And yeah, good video, I've known Phil for a good 20 years and know all these cars, but still watched it all as it was just bloody good. Nice work lads.
I nearly didn't watch this as I don't like modified cars but what a cracker of a video I would have missed out on ! A fascinating garage and Phil is such a nice, guest. He's very interesting to listen to and his passion is so genuine. I'm so glad I gave it a watch.
Don't like modified cars? Whats wrong with you
@@chrisg4rr377 I'm not a teenager
ITBs on a Murci and a 10 into 1 header on a V10 e46 utterly mega 😮😮😮❤ this is modifying done right.
Phil didn't mention the DriftWorks forum, which was the go to hub for everything drift related and is still relevant today. It's also a good/bad reminder of how cheap Japanese cars were back in the day when you trawl through the old build threads and for sale threads.
amazing unique collection. That is awesome. Being a chevy guy, i havent seen a big block 454 put out only 260hp. I remember the 348 (actually a 409) and that was 260hp. Anyway, that is the type of collection i like. Meaningful and driven. Story behind each one, personal story not from someone else.
Been following the drift works family since 2007 this perfectly encapsulates who they are, great video! Phil is the best
Very humble ‘I can get round’ phil is a great drifter. Also he is bang on about the AE too the car is awesome to watch and is a spectacle. Also also he is correct about the s15 in its day that build was unlike anything we had ever seen in the uk and possibly Europe and it was an absolute weapon.
I remember the S15 being a bit of a rocket ship. Little did we know that would be 'the norm' (albeit with uncut firewall)
@@TheLateBrakeShow yes in it’s day not much could even come close I remember it being an amazing car compared to its rivals.
Phill comes across as a genuinely nice bloke. The collection of cars is something to be proud off
Iconic car cave he's a legend in pioneering the UK drift scene.
For me, this is easily the best car channel on any platform.
Great guy, great collection, great video.
I was excited about this as soon as Phil had mentioned you had been there filming, so glad I didn't have to wait ages, its a hell of a collection he has acquired/built over the years!
It's great when they're not my sort of cars but they are still so well turned out, and the owner is clearly such a nice guy, that you love the video anyway! Nice one Jonny.
Two of my favourite car channels combined..... Perfect
I feel i could just stand and drool over the fab of that V10 M3 exhaust for hours! What an awesome collection...
Suddenly seeing Chad on the roof was funny. One minute walking on the bridge, past the shops, from a drone and bang on a roof alone. Great video chad, amazing since the scooter tour days
Literally two of my favorite car culture people. Super stoked to find this as I woke up today. Cheers gents. Edit: was really good to hear more about the builds from a different perspective.
This was brilliant! I recently went through some old Max Power magazines and found some hilariously young photos of Jonny from 20 years ago when I was a teenager, so to see a car cave with a nutty modified-car taste-ed bloke was so good and refreshing. Please get more on like this Jonny!
Max power god that brings some memories plus fast car , redline 😂
Two of the UK's best automotive channels come together , Absolute joy to watch thanks gents for putting the work in to create the content for the petrolheads of youtube 💯👌
This is incredible Jonny. That Murci is probably my favourite modified car of all time. If I could have any car it would be that one. Love it.
Have been waiting for this since Phil mentioned it in his channel 😅
What a great collection and a really nice genuine guy 👍🏼
Where do you even start. What a collection, that lambo is just 😍😍😍 and then that work of art under the E46 is an absolute thing of beauty. Enjoyed every second of this, would love a second episode where you take Johnny out in each of them
Awsome film again, you could have made this an hour long easily, probably one of my favourte car caves yet
I'm sure I remember Phil regularly in Redline magazine around 2005ish
I love how Phil acts like the 997.2 GT3 has always been stock LOL. What a fibber.
What a collection but that silver Porsche is it for me .... Lord that's perfection 😮
Wow! What a collection - it's like a dream garage come to life. That Impala!!
Amazing collection and the KZhead channel is great Deserves loads more views
We tend to agree
loved this! Like a crossover episode! the driftworks channel is crazy, the details they go in to on their builds is unlike any other channel I have seen.
Great video. I remember the 'smoking skills s15' from Hellaflush London, such a mega build.
The greatest looking and sounding road going Murcielago in existence!
Jonny, you should do a barn find episode of your own Impala as it's been sitting for 20 years. You may actually get it to start! 😂
😬
What a lovely chap, and another brilliant video. Thank you JS. I love these types of videos
Absolutely awesome show and tell thank you Jonny. These cars are made to be seen not put away in some collection so its a big thank you to Phil Morrison for sharing his passion with us.
Wow stunning cars and mods!
Absolutely loved every part of this episode. Phil seems like a nice guy and every one of these cars looks outstanding.
the collab we never knew we needed!!! been following driftwokrs since the pandemic, huge inspiration. Nice to see you on screen together
Genuinely think I drove past this whilst I was working in London, come north for some awesome roads!
Absolutely brilliant video Jonny yet again. Phil seems like a proper down to earth car nerd just following his passion. I love DW and also DynoTorque next door, together they've built some awesome cars.
That 964…..stuff of dreams, so pleased your gonna do a follow up on it (preys the rain gods don’t ruin it !!)
Spoiler alert - no rain!
This channel is great , such a verity of content from old boy in a shed vibes to full on drift builds .....awsome car collections for evry petrolhead ....great work johnny , and driftworks is awsome followed them a long time now even before youtube 👍👍
The e30 went into production when I was a teenager I made models for my bedroom, first got a 318i then a 325i touring but my pride and joy is my 325ix she's no show queen but the love has never left. Amazing collection
All just AWESOME! thanks Jonny, hard to say one of your best because all ya stuff is great - well done fella! + Phil is a proper fella.
9:56 absolutely heartwarming. Love it.
Awesome, long term fan, can’t understate how much that haichiroku catapulted the British drift scene, still got my driftworks stickers 🤙
Drift cars and highly modified cars isn’t my cup of tea. Yet, I watched every second… excellent video! Hugely impressive figures coming out of those machines and to think of the hours of blood, sweat and tears that go into them!! Cheers Jonny; superb as ever!
I have been following Phil long before the murci, as this video shows he is an awesome car guy and so good at wrenching, fabrication and designing. Super rare to have those 3 qualities and also be such a level headed down to earth soul. I love seeing him get more collaboration and his community growing.
That 'medusa' manifold is insane😲😂 Loved this! Some amazing cars👌💪
All of that video spent chuckling at the madness of it. Love it! Phil is my sort of crazy
What a collection of fantastic cars, nice to see an owner who knows what he wants and just does it, that lambo drool 😮
Yes! I've been waiting for this since I saw Phil's Porsche in the background of one of your Allegro videos! But this is much better than I expected
I had a 62 SS but always wanted a 65 or 66 SS with that huge fastback euro look…all the forgotten dreams!😢
That Lamborghini is Famous , i have seen it many times in Videos
You should do a barn find on your Impala!🤣
I second that!
Genuinely stopped what i was doing to watch this been waiting for it since phill mentioned you was there for filming great video johny keep it up mate
Awesome. Been a fan of the dw channel for a long time. Great to see this showcased in a different way as well. Awesome, great episode.
Video so well put together, and host + presenter as refreshingly humble as i hoped. What a quality channel, many others could learn alot from the camera work, vibe, feel & ease of watching of this one.
Many thanks. Glad you enjoyed this one.
What a decent humble down to earth chap. I’ve known the Brand for decades but never the man behind it. Great collection.
If you have not watch the full series of the v10 m3 then do the intro never gets boring, the fly by, the flame, the music. Drift works is one of the best you tube channels out there, it's just awesome, it's real, passionate, honest and a love of cars. Jonny I am as excited as you are to have Phil on your show. Well deserved DW 🙌🫶
Literally this channel is therapeutic for the soul.
I love DW collection. 👌🏼
I had one of the hilux as our first work truck back in 1982 It was so tinny , always had to have your seat belt on as the doors would just swing open when cornering 😂😂
Loved that! Man's got taste, what a dream car cave 😍
Fantastic collection 👌
Always enjoy the videos on the channel well done everyone great work 👍👍
Amazing Car Cave and collaboration we didnt know we needed! It would be great to get Phil and James sat in the big brown chairs to talk about Driftworks
Phil knows how to car.
Awesome cave, Interesting with it. Thoroughly enjoyed this with some super interesting cars.
Phils got THE dream car garage
Great to see a crossover of your channels here, the DW86 is something to behold, it doesn't surprise me that it's terrifying
Come on. 🎉🎉 only the first minute alone already gives me goosebumps 😮😮. Awesomeness 🎉❤
✊🏽
Its about we got a carcave cap!! Or fleece! Whatever works!!😂 what a great episode 👍 staggering collection!! Wowzer 🤯❤👍
Some cool looking motors there. Loved this.
Very much enjoyed!❤
Great to see Driftworks featured on another channel! I hope you popped next door to Dynotorque, they've done some amazing stuff, like the V8 Pajero Evo.
Absolutely loved this!! One thing though I never imagined Boyz n da hood or ice cube would ever be referenced in any of these videos, or a 6 4 impala, that was proper OG. Sorry I might be overdoing it. My favourites here though were the striking blue E30 m3 and the m3 with the medusa headers, amazing
One of the best collections in U.K, stunning builds 🔥🔥😎.
This is my favourite collection so far, i would give a testicle to own any of those beastly motors, especially the m3.
This could be the perfect! Buzzing for this.
Absolute stand out car cave episode!
Cool looking AE86, love it
