  • Honestly, watching someone who is not a pro survival person try to survive is potentially more satisfying than a pro. Especially an engineer who’s enthusiastic about the process.

    • @toddy_rblx If you don't know what you're doing when camping off the land by yourself, you increase the potential of getting hurt and not getting help. It just depends on your level of knowledge with this kind of stuff. Survival is hard.

    • @@Bdoll1993 This video was more about entertainment than survival. The danger level is about the same as sleeping in your backyard when you were a kid. Lol, he had more technology in that wheel barrel than NASA had to land on the moon!

    • @jgoo4572 yeah that's my point and no its not like sleeping in your back yard. What if he slipped and broke a leg, or hit his head. He'd be by himself in the middle of the woods. Bears and cougars are also a thing. So yeah this was meant for fun I get that but that doesn't change the fact that if some kid sees this video and tries to repeat and gets hurt cuz they don't know what they're doing.

  • Hey, a quick note about your fire ring. More important than leaving no trace is avoiding wildfires. In order to do that, you have to dig up the ground a bit in your fire ring. While not common, many forest fires have been started by surface fires heating up underground root systems, which then carry the smoldering ember up into the tall grass and trees later. These roots can hold an ember for weeks, so the damage may not be immediately obvious. This is especially common in grasslands and meadows, like the one you've camped in. So in order to camp responsibly, always dig a fire pit, that way there are no underground root systems under your fire.

    • good tip!

      @MorleyKert@MorleyKert28 күн бұрын
    • its true you're supposed to dig out a pit, but there has been a lot more rain in this region than normal the past year. I think it'll be fine for the early season, and the fire will create the ring naturally. Safety first though! Forest Fires are terrifying! Your comment is very important to those watching this who don't know any better. I am up in WA state and digging under the pit is definitely smart! Sometimes though this early grass will creep into the old firepits on the family property, and we just burn it off. Still, better safe than sorry.

    @jaythewolf7216@jaythewolf7216Ай бұрын
    • I dont think you can work clay out in the wild though. You'd need a fire far hotter than any natural open fire could get in order to get it to harden. But working with clay can be pretty cool, if you have a kiln for it.

      @unironicallydel7527@unironicallydel7527Ай бұрын
    • @@unironicallydel7527 you can fire clay with a small fire. There are also different lvls of firing clay and the higher temp you get the higher firing you can do. Also increasing the temp of a fire is pretty easy with some people just blowing on it with tubes or making some kind of pump blower. That and you can just make charcoal and use that. Or both. But yeah you can fire clay perfectly fine with a standard small bonfire. I actually have a small Jack skellington head I made by just dropping it in my bonfire while I was drinking with my family. No blowing no charcoal just a small wood fire.

The tiny basket, I wouldn't expect that to hold a sizable fish, whereas a net could possibly just corral some to make spearfishing (using a sharpened stick, not a 3d-printed spear) viable. • I thought it was ferrocerium, or are they just different names for the same thing?

      @bs9692@bs9692Ай бұрын
    • @@bs9692 You're correct -- the "flint" is made from ferrocerium, which is an alloy of mischmetal (~95%) and iron (~5%). Mischmetal is predominantly cerium (55%), but also contains other chemically similar elements like lanthanum (~25%), neodymium (~15%), praseodymium (~5%), and other rare earth elements. These elements are not easily separated from each other, so they are typically used as a mixture unless a specific rare earth element is required. (This is also why so many different elements -- four! -- are named after the town of Ytterby in Sweeden -- they were all mixed together in the ore mined there!)

  • Acorns!!!! Nice video! brave project for sure!!! would love to see future 3D project/printings based on your experience and needs that you print at home with more time and then got out to test them. That fishing trap was smart, I think it could be fun to design and print an improved v2 and test it

  • Awesome video, this is survival with a twist. I think you did well at recording your one week survival trip, good job documenting your journey and the most important highlights of your day. If it was me, I would probably have printed a snare and put it at one of the squirrel holes.

  • Acorns man. I really love this New Game + types of survivals. It reminds me of sci-fi survival games where you have all this technology and you try to survive a primitive environment.

  • Glad to have found your channel, what would you recommend for a starter to 3D printing? (I haven’t bought a think yet so anything to get me started as a base product to filament would be amazing!)

  • Love the concept of the video! Would love to see different printers and materials. Like maybe wood filament. A series or mini series would be cool. Like print all the parts of a tent!! Whole video right there. Maybe print and test the tools, then go out and try to survive as another format.
