This is probably the best bmx competition I've ever watched. The tricks that were done in this event are so elite, it doesn't even compare to anything else, honestly.
I'll never forget as a kid watching Tony hawk's 900, mat Hoffman's tuck no handed 900, Mike metzgers back flip, Travis double backflip.... legendary moments in X games history. And can't forget the miracle boy, watching as a 8 year old in 98' watching my first x games, he is the reason I got into BMX. Thanks Dave. RIP 🙏🏼🕊️
I'm really loving the more grassroots style Xgames has had these past couple years. I know it's mostly a result of covid, but I think using these existing parks for competitions, instead of using a special one time only use park in a stadium is super cool. It gives the competitions the raw, down to earth feeling they've been missing for so many years in the stadiums. Plus, CATF is a place that us viewers can actually go to and ride for ourselves, which is something we can't say about any of the stadium skate parks.
Agreed. And the giant xgames circus ramps should be abandoned for the same reason. What is the point competing on ramps that 99% of people can't ride.

I really like how they did this contest. No rankings until the end and any obstacle instead of a quarter or box jump. It feels more like a jam format which I appreciate.

I remember the day when I watched Tony Hawk land that 900. My mind was blown. I have been a huge fan ever since that day. Now fast forward to the future in 2022 and look what people are doing with tricks. It is if it's trickable they're gonna ride on it whatever it is. I'm glad Xgames has grown into such a huge sport. I hope it continues to grow. I would love to look into the future and see X games in the year 3000. 😁 And what a great opening to this event! 😁🍿
Peraza was my personal favorite in this one dudes smooth and consistent

Man that was so awesome from start to finish it made it so much better without worrying about the score till the end that was one of the best parts but kudos to everybody that was spectacular made my day

I won't lie, Daniel's fall gave me Jake Brown 2007 vibes and I was honestly scared for him for a bit. luckily he rode it out, and I think all of us are glad that he did.

the guy in the jordan jersey [Daniel Sandoval] went so big he literally hit the roof. i hope he wins and in the future, best trick should be outdoor and wood [imo]. great stuff from all riders! I love to see the ones who grinded out the tricks they wanted to get as well. i woul dhave had a very tough time judging this. my score card after the event: gold- Daniel Sandoval Silver - Logan Martin Bronze - Mike Varga edit: On 2nd watch Justin Dowell could have easily won as well. though, the entire field did amazing. like all podium worthy. just preference. Best comp so far!~ [minus the roof interfering]
A Double flair isn’t a best trick winning trick for a contest like that it’s been done multiple times at x games it’s even been done on the mega ramp, imo any 900 combo is much harder than a double flair. Logan didn’t do anything spectacular either all of the tricks Logan did multiple people have in their bags that’s why who metaled metaled because they were nbd execution wise yes those riders landed their tricks better but best trick is about progression not how well you land it.
Yeah I'm fine with the judging. I think Peraza was the most impressive rider overall, by far, but Varga did a 900 double barspin so.... Then Mallot had that really cool fakie backflip 180

Daniel Sandoval fell multiple times and he did a double flair which has been done hundreds of times. For me it would be: 1: Mike Varga - 900 -Double - bar 2: Kevin Peraza - Flair - whip - fakie over a spine 3: Jeremy Mallot - Flair - Fakie - cab - flair Although Logan Martin definitely in 4th an oppo flair whip is insane.

Congrats to Mike Varga, epic trick and well deserved. Daniel Sandoval should have been on the podium though - a double Flair doesn't make podium! Or even Justin Dowell's 540 quad barspin or 360 Twix? I know Im not a judge, but 2nd and 3rd were not who they should've been IMHO.
In 2002 I done many barspin tailwhips on scooter... I think it was the first time ever landed. Crazy to see on bmx. I have never tried it on bmx.
Dave Mirra was my favorite as a kid and when I heard he died I felt it, not as bad as Kobe but I was shocked RIP Dave

Well if you look at how many riders can 180 backflip over a full size coping spine compared to how many kids these days are doing double flairs it makes sense

Kevin peraza is a fuckin nut! I love that dude! All these guys are so elite I don't know if non bmx people are even able to comprehend what they are seeing! When it takes you a year plus to learn a little fly out barspin it really gives you an appreciation for how high up in the progression stratosphere these guys really are.

In terms of trick difficulty and danger, it’s still been done before, where as a flair - whip - fakie and 900 double bar has never been done.

Can't belive there's a mongoose rider 💀 those Walmart mongoose bikes are trash. But good to see a pro bmx rider doing bowl/ vert riding
The mongoose legion l100 and l500 actually look like decent bikes , sealed full chromoly with double rim hubs and 48 spline cranks , ones got a freecoaster
The high end mongoose completes (not available at walmart) are pretty solid

Some of these "backflips" are off axis 360's or 540's.

I’m kind of getting tired of seeing Mike Varga take first rotation tricks are kind of boring ! It’s like oh I won doing a 900 last year if I throw a bar spin in and win Again ! Honestly if I can pretty much do that trick I don’t feel like it should win bass track!

Funny how he won Gold in Mega Park just 2 days ago on BMX, and the last 3 Big Air events. He is bringing more to BMX than BMX riders, because of his Scooter tricks. And Logan and Toohey both did the Nothing Bike Flip that RWilly invented. Just wish Ryan did the Front Flip Bike Flip he also invited for X Games but Elliot's jump probably wasn't big enough for it, like the Nitro Circus & RWilly Land ramps are. But even Travis Pastrana say's he is one of the best Action Sport Athletes of our times, because of his way of inventing new tricks and not backing down from defeat.

Im not sure I see the reasoning in naming it after Mirra. Almost like a justification of what he did. There are more honorable . Not a good example to set. I loved him and loved watching him, but I don't think this was a good move
