Marques could easily mention why even iphone 15 exist when 13 and 14 already here 😂. And what about iphone getting green line over the update??? He hasnt mentioned it anywhere. Apple definitely paid him for a while not to speak of anything. Now marques need to earn back many of our respect just because of his recent atitude.

  • The Apple Watch Ultra was meant to be advertised towards fitness enthusiasts who were already using brands like Garmin. However, Garmin never updates their watches every year and those customers are used to that. The Apple Watch Ultra should get updates every 3 years in my opinion. We don't usually upgrade our Garmin unless there is a huge update since they are meant to last for years.

    @cesardejeronimo8184@cesardejeronimo81847 ай бұрын
    • each year there is someone with one that is 3 years old, it is the same with the phones. i had the 6 never got the 7,8,9 etc. Jumped to 12, but having each year a new model you have at the time of your upgrade the best version. otherwise if you are 2 year into a model needing to change, you either get something that in another year will get a major upgrade or wait another year.

    • It’s marketing to include those enthusiasts, not exclusively for those enthusiasts. Same as MacBook “Pro” and iPhone “Pro”, it’s marketed for pros but it’s also designed for normal people cuz that’s the vast majority of customers for all these categories. Apple always wants products that appeal to everyone, and an “Ultra” model that doesn’t have the latest features of the Series 9 would be pretty unappealing to most Apple consumers.

      @jmunt@jmunt7 ай бұрын
    • @@officialhideyo Well the Ultra 2 doesn’t have significantly better battery life or offers anything new in sensors. The water resistance wasn’t increased either. Previously I purchased a Garmin Fénix 5 despite the 7 being available at the time. It was since it was going to be a huge update from the original Garmin Vivoactive either way.

  • This is why we love MKBHD. The company sends him products to review, and he could easily tell you every product is worth the upgrade. It would probably equate to even more money for him, but instead he chooses honesty and tells you the real answers. Kudos to you and your team for making the best tech content out there.

  • As a nurse, apple watches are super helpful. Theres an app that helps with calculating a patient's respiratory rate by tapping the watch with each breath then itll vibrate once done so you won't have to keep your eyes on their chest and on a clock. Another reason I got one is getting notifications from other staff in case of emergencies or if a patient is requesting something. Just a random post for those in healthcare if you're deciding on getting an apple watch.

    • I like knowing that whenever I need to / choose to update, there is a reasonably new version to update to, even if year on year it is just a spec bump. Otherwise it’s a pain trying to judge what Apple’s release cycle is going to be, and tying that with your own upgrade cycle. I don’t think anyone is likely to be upgrading their watch yearly - but this lets them upgrade at whatever pace they like without feeling like they might be getting an old product. I’ll be upgrading this year because a family member wants my old one. Series 7 to Series 9 will not be a huge upgrade, but I’m happy enough with it.

  • In addition to the AssistiveTouch on the older watches, there is a slightly newer option in accessibility called "Quick Actions" which is exactly the double tap feature for most apps. It doesn't have the sometimes needless clutter of the other gestures. It is just the double tap to answer/end calls and some other primary buttons. Only difference is that it does not advance It also works just fine on my Series 7. I thought the S9 would allow you to do it while you haven't raised to wake, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

  • Correction: all the way back to the series 4. I have a series 4 and I have used this accessibility feature and it works… but it’s finicky sometimes. Not 100% working but it works. I would say 70-75% of the time it works. I do have to be prominent with the clenches and finger taps and be specific with how I move it, otherwise it won’t work or it does something completely different because it read my muscle movement in my arm wrong. But it works. Just don’t recommend it if you plan to use it fully , I’d still prefer the nose tactic I also use sometimes (you are not the only one) as it’s just more reliable or I use (if I’m holding something, my finger knuckles or joints or side tips of my fingers of the hand holding something. I can see the double tap being useful on places like public transport, busses and monorails or trains for those who stand and hold onto a hand rail or the overhead hand grip, but before you say there’s also a high chance you are holding onto your phone on the empty hand, that is true but for those who have both hands full I think it’s cool if your hand with the watch on is holding onto the rail and you use your two fingers to tap to answer a call while holding onto the rail with the other fingers, smart o decision with the two fingers I think.

    • While you're comment isn't necessarily wrong, I'd still argue that Garmin's interfaces are absolute dog shit compared to Apple, which is what happens when you trade refresh rate, responsiveness and overall performance for battery life. Yeah, you'll get multi-day battery life, but frame dropping on a $1000+ Fenix/Epix watch is laughably bad.

When I am out and about the watch loses connection to cellular often (in areas with good cell connection) and I have to go into setting, mobile services to get it to re connect. When I have looked online I have found others that have reported this is issue. Has anyone else had this issue with the Ultra when using it as stand alone and does anyone know if the new Ultra has this issue or does it connect straight away out and about and keeps its cell connection? Any advice would be appreciated

  • That's the thing about tech these daya. You'd really have to be creative in order to differentiate your product year on year. We've reached a point where the spec bump in hardware is the more "tangible" change yet a lot of the work has been done to optimize the silicon today. But that is also what paves the way to better optimized software, more complicated algorithms (running locally on the device) and features later down the line.

  • Been using the gestures on my Samsung Watch 4 Classic since the update to One UI Watch 5 recently. Works very well. Already had lift to wake for years, but a quick double twist of the wrist activated gestures, then you click your thumb and forefinger together once to move forward, twice to go back, and do a motion where all 4 fingers touch your thumb like a grab with fingertips to activate. I use it alot lately, as a person who uses a cane and it's easier to just use gestures while walking or active. Takes some getting used to, but I think it might take off once everyone knows about it.

All I really use my watch for is getting my messages and telling the time. Dictation is frustratingly slow on my watch nowadays, and I get a one day battery instead of two like I used to, but... it still works fine. I was gonna replace it with an ultra this year, but I think I'm gonna just keep it another year and see what they do for their tenth anniversary. The iPhone got a special phone, maybe the watch will too. If not, I'll just get the new thing. It'll be a good upgrade either way. Mine's getting a bit chunky. I just use it little enough that I don't mind living with it.
