Meg is finally chosen for a Maine moose permit, an antlered (bull) permit nonetheless! Rob is her sub-permittee and Maine Guide (he now has his Guide license!) We head to zone 5, which is east of the Allagash, north of Baxter State Park, and west of Ashland. Our friend, Nate, joins us and takes over the camera for the week. We prepared with lots of scouting, lots of gathering of equipment, and lots of training - including target practice, weight training, and cardio. We have the time of our lives and thoroughly enjoy our experience!

  • One of the best videos I've seen this year. Emotions show your thanks for George. Nice work. So did you do Euro mount?

    • Thank you so much for the kind words! George is at the taxidermist, getting a full shoulder mount. We should have him back in the spring. He will live on our wall at camp where we can appreciate him for the rest of our days!

  • Hey dang! Hats off to the Lady Hunter! True SportsWomen there! Enjoyed this Video. Used to drive the logging road from Moosehead/ Greenville to West Branch of the Penobscot to go Fishing, saw my First Moose, and many, many more.

  • Hey Rob & Meg Congratulations, what a fantastic high quality video. It felt like I was there with you. Meg kudos to you for passing on that first shooting opportunity you had. I took a shot like that this past deer season, wounded the deer and was never able to recover it. I still regret that! Best to you both. (Nate's Dad)

  • Ken Mayo is good people. He got me on a 57-inch bull in 2014. Great vid, it truly showed how the locals go about a moose hunt. Thanks for sharing the experience.

  • Just came across your channel. I've never made that far up North. But I hope one day while I'm still semi mobile to see the beautiful woods. Absolutely fantastic drone shots! The surplus radio shack is awesome as well. Having a good woman that joins you on hunts is as good as it can get. I'll be going back and watching your previous video's. Plus you got a new sub

  • Congratulations on a wonderful moose hunt. I really enjoyed the video.A piece of advice, after you shoot don't jump up and down and carry on.Stay still and quiet.That can make the difference of an animal peacefully dying of getting an adrenaline rush and running off.

  • "shot one in the ass..." THAT was dang unfortunate! People who have never spent any time in the North Woods have NO IDEA how FAST Moose are! (not saying YOU are one of them, but there's bound to be somebody who hears you say that & starts sounding off with zero tools in their Knowledge Box) Moose only LOOK ungainly & awkward. Even the heaviest bulls with the biggest headgear will TURN & BURN in the blink of an eye. They can spin around and disappear back the way they came, and there's nothing you can do about it. It's amazing how the world's biggest deer can perform a vanishing act that would fool Penn & Teller! It's "now you see them/now you don't"... as you watch a Black Hole slip thru a solid wall of brilliant gold & red, you're left wondering "How did he get those giant paddles and picket fences thru there?--and without making a sound?!?"

  • Hey guys, not trying to be a jerk, but it’s illegal to use a drone in any way connected to hunting big game in Maine. Scouting, locating, recovery, any of it. I double checked to make sure.

    @nathanchapman9836@nathanchapman98363 ай бұрын
    • Thanks for the concern. The drone was used outside of the hunting season… before and after. Never during. It can be used for scouting outside of the season, just like a plane would be used.

    • @@nailswood167 Airborne hunting: A person on the ground or airborne may not use aircraft (including drones & remote-controlled aircraft) to aid or assist in hunting deer, bear, or moose. We never flew while hunting, only before and after hunting. Scouting before the season begins is not considered hunting.

      @UptaCampMaine@UptaCampMaine3 ай бұрын
    • @@UptaCampMaine, sure, except it assisted you and the law says nothing about season restrictions. You did see bear and it was bear season. Anyway, I think the discussion is larger than legality and crosses in to ethics, as wild game have not evolved and our technology keeps making it easier to locate and harvest. I am glad you harvested!

      @nailswood167@nailswood1673 ай бұрын
    • @@nailswood167 I agree that we need to keep fair chase laws up to date with technology, but at the moment Maine does not have laws against pre season scouting with aircraft. Most outfitters have been using planes for many years to locate target bulls pre season. I do want to add that we saw the bear while driving, not with the drone. I appreciate you both for making sure laws were followed. Safety and legality are the two most important parts of any hunt for me.
