So sad to hear of Dr. Heiser's passing from Pancreatic cancer on February 20, 2023 at age 60. A great victory for him personally, but a great loss for those who seek to understand the scriptures by attending to teachings of people like Dr. Heiser. I'm confident that he has heard the words from his Creator, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant ... enter thou into the joy of thy lord."

We must understand that many our losing what Jesus actually said and is saying to us. Because we are being taught by Ministers that don't truly understand the Word. But our taught by men or woman that don't understand.

Mike tended to prefer ESV. So., he probably heard, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master." Sorry... a little translation humor. It was probably in Hebrew, as God knows that Mike speaks it.

I believe we’ll be discovering the layers of the bible, like layers of an onion, forever. God gets more awesome as we learn more.
That is exactly what I thought when I graduated from Fuller Theological Seminary. Was too busy with ministry to get my doctorate then but now that I’m 75 and stuck at home with rheumatoid disease, I wish I could find a program where I could pursue that degree at home.
Not to Gen Z kids. They're on a road to disaster, for wanting to be right without knowledge.

I think this was recorded before Mikes illness, while he was still at Faithlife. I agree, keep praying for that healing. On the latest NB podcast Sunday, he says he is finished with radiation and now waiting for a second MRI in a few weeks.

The ethos of scholars like Heiser has truly been a blessing to the church at large. Not only are laypeople able to grasp material that was previously inaccesible, they’re being given the tools to continue learning themselves. Dr. Witherington’s statement near the beginning about pastors just “winging it” when it comes to preaching really highlights what I mean. There are no more excuses to not take the Scriptures seriously. The Spirit absolutely empowers us, but even the biblical writers knew their texts inside and out!

Excellent discussion! What a profound loss we have suffered with the calling home of Dr. Heiser, but Heaven must surely be rejoicing! I’m so thankful that Dr. Heiser put his thoughts and research down in books and videos that we and generations to come can continue to learn from. Dr. Heiser’s work really awakened by desire to study God’s word, including the Old Testament which always had seemed inapplicable to today’s world. Thanks be to God for Dr. Heiser and his work. ☺️

In my life, I've seen supernatural occurrences that just can't be explained...but, for one of them, I was spared and allowed to live to spare another's suffering. God's love is so holy and pure!💞🙏

If u believe Jesus died for us and have accepted Him as ur savior u ARE on the winning side. We r saved by grace thru faith not works( performance) lest anyone should boast. Not performance based. We cannot put God in our debt thinking we must perform to be on the “ winning side” . That we must do this or that to be accepted by God. I lived under condemnation for many years thinking I had to DO more be better in order for God to love and accept me. I was so wrong the gospel is TRUE!! He loves His family. We r saved by grace thru faith not works.Blessings to u. Heiser has a short book and message on u tube” What God Wants” He so eloquently explains “ the gospel” much better and so does scripture.. Romans 5:8 .

Excellent explanation of what a scholar does and why it is essential! Most people in the pews have no clue what scholars do and why it is important. Today on KZhead the average person has direct access to the most brilliant minds and scholarly work ever available. This is the key to re-vangelizing the "dones" who left church due to shallow doctrine and petty leadership.

Josh Packard in his well-researched book "Rise of The Dones" builds a compelling profile of the mass exodus of highly-engaged, mature, active church members who keep their faith, but reject organized religion with petty church leadership. It is these folks, The Dones, who would benefit by deeper theological teachings beyond what their former unhealthy local McChurch had to offer.
Many churches are becoming "Entertainment doctrine" People don't wanna hear it face the truth so they turn away from churches that don't offer a "fun" and light hearted message
What seminary school did Jesus attend? The disciples? There wasn’t a bible at that time. Yes they had Torah (first 5 OT books) but without a true calling, all of the schooling in the world ain’t connect them to others.
@@TradMommy They had more than just the Torah They also had the Nevi'im & the Kituvim that made up the rest of what we call the old testament, & they call the Tanakh.
Thanks for this. My shortcut to understanding the Bible has been: listening to the Bible expository teaching by Messianic Believers who know Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic, and who understand the original and current Jewish perspectives/idioms, as well as Jewish history. Also, those who study/translate the scripture of the Dead Sea Scrolls have revealed wonderful things. My eyes have been opened and my understanding corrected on several issues, and I have connected the dots between the Old and New Testaments! Praise the Lord that He has increased knowledge in these days, so the cookies are on the bottom shelf for people like me. I am so very thankful.
News Flash: You will never understand the Bible unless the Lord opens it up to you for understanding. Most so-called believers worship the anti-christ and do not know it. They believe, incorrectly, that they are saved. Let me ask you: if you worship the anti-christ believing that he is Christ, are you saved? Do you worship the anti-christ? Your automatic response will be "no," but what is the truth? I guess that you may have to wait until it is all over to tell. One thing I can tell you for certain: most believers are going to hell. Y'all fail to recognize the level of deception employed by the devil, such that only the elect will not be deceived. Most are deceived and worship the anti-christ and reject Christ. Are you one of them?
@@bibleenglish. Thank you for that report! I agree that many are deceived. Also that the Holy Spirit reveals meaning. I was called out of a charismatic non-denominational church, about 14 years ago, by a strong inner voice/thought saying that “something is really wrong here!” The Lord has been kind to me and I have learned a lot of Biblical truth, much of it correcting many common fallacies in the mainstream evangelical church. I suppose that most Believers have some deception, so thank the Lord for mercy and forgiveness. In my experience, very few people are looking to be enlightened with my vast wisdom, but my main hope is that I be given stronger faith, a heart of selfless love/compassion, joy and the wisdom to use His methods against depression, sadness and helplessness. One of the main things I have learned is that life is no walk in the park (!!) but trains us to be better.
Glory to God for Dr. Heiser health! He looks amazing and healthy.. I keep praying his body is healed from cancer.

My brother went to Asbury Seminary in the '90s. He is a lieutenant colonel chaplain in the army serving in Korea. He spoke very highly of all the professors there! Dr. Heiser has done a great job explaining Psalms 82, the Divine Council and how to understand the Bible through the culture of antiquity.
Recently Bryan Melvin mentioned he saw the Divine Council in action during his Heaven "visit". Almost 40 years later he's introduced to Heiser's work and now he knows the name of what he saw. Dean Braxton got an even longer, more detailed look at how much happens simultaneously with heavenly beings interacting with the human level. I've told people many times I should've been dead dozens of times and that's just from stuff I'm aware of. That I'm here is testimony to Divine Intervention many times, probably countless times.
Asbury Seminary had a profound revival in the 1970s. My dear pastor was a graduate. The fires that were lit there have produced fruit even to this moment.
The question remains, however: do you understand the Bible? Are you worshipping the anti-christ or Christ? How do you know? If you know, then who is the anti-christ? I'll wait, but I bet that you do not know who the anti-christ is so that you do not know whether you worship him or not.

I am so happy to see Dr. Heiser. I’m just an avid reader of his books….So amazing and fascinating, it opened up my mind to so many mysterious realms happening in the Bible. I want him to be with us for many many many years☺️
Same. I found him via Ancient Aliens Debunked then got my mind blown with Psalm 82 and providentially we had one of our church's college students preach against prosperity teaching and showed a clip of one using Psalm 82 to say we are divine. It was crazy because I realized that was the only time that psalm had been mentioned at any church I have ever been to.

This is one of the best interviews I’ve listened to in a long while. Let the scripture interpret itself without adding hyper emotionalism into every chapter and book. Emotions have their place to be sure but, there is a sorrowful lack of balance when it comes to this particular discipline. It would be awesome to have both scholars do an in-depth study of scriptures. Each from their own areas of expertise with examples of each covenant backing the other and perhaps with extra biblical texts thrown into the mix. Geek us out please!

He has a lot of Biblical knowledge and he's a great storyteller. I have (almost) all of Dr. Heiser's books and I've learned so much from him. I can't wait to meet him in Heaven one day. RIP Dr. Michael Heiser. That man turned my life around. I finally understand my Bible and the world around me much better, and have answers to my questions, that my own pastor told me "not to worry about, we're not concerned with that". I left that church. What kind of pastor says that? I digress. I'm sure he meant well, and perhaps he didn't have the answer either. GOD BLESS.

I'm a Catholic and our educators don't teach us about angelology anymore--or I should say, I, as a layman was never taught such in a systematic way. I'm so grateful to Mike Heiser for illuminating this important aspect of Christian theology/cosmology of which, until I watched his videos (and read his book "The Unseen Realm") was largely ignorant.

A lot of gems in this discussion which helped me in having a greater understanding of Daniel 7. the use of Son of Man and Kingdom. I never saw that before. I also appreciated that the topic of demon possession was engaged. I needed more clarity with that, because deliverance ministries are doing something that I don't see in the NT. None of the apostles or Jesus were focused upon that. .Mike said we have God's Holy Spirit within us, if we are Believers, and cannot be owned. Bill mentioned that it is our flesh that we struggle with. Blaming demons for struggles we have in our flesh - it seems that is what the deliverance ministries are doing. Focusing more and more on our daily walk with God, having His Holy Spirit in our hearts will slowly cleanse those areas in our life. Why focus upon lowly demons? Why give them so much power and attention? Mike and Bill helped me with that. I just want to give a shout out to the interviewer. I don't see his name mentioned. He was EXCELLENT.

I love the point been made about every person receiving the Holy Spirit. I know in some circles (in my experience), there is a hidden belief that the elders and pastors have some sort of power when they are together and the Holy Spirit guides them in a special way rather than each individual believer. I once read a very “heady” article written by one of these men. It was very difficult to get through, but what was said in an “academic“ way was that exact thing. So, in the local Church, You have a pastor and elders who are on the same page and they control the families. It is very hidden, but there are some out there who believe that and run their churches in that way.And it is evil and strives to take the place of the Holy Spirit Himself in each believer’s life in a church setting. Beware, often these churches openly state that they are not in charge of “gray areas” but if you go against elder guidance in any way any of these areas, they will used double speak to go against true Christians.So thankful God thwarts that and for honest humble men who serve the true God! 😊
Well that's dumb, those elders and pastors need an ego check. They are considered equals, there is only one father
@@rickspalding3047 boy, do they ever - but they were trained by a pretty influential (famous even) pastor who models this. Accountability (church discipline) for them is for all the “sheep” EXCEPT pastors and elders - they cover for one another. It is very evil and crushes many of Jesus’ beloved ones. It is just such a blessing to see true godly humble men who teach truth ❤️❤️ not dummies who are trying to BE God. Ok, I’m finished 😉😌
They are mistaken. Not everyone receives the Holy Spirit. Read the Bible. Did Simon Magus receive the Holy Spirit? How about Bar Jesus? Are there no believers who are deceived and worship the anti-christ believing that they worship Christ? Your belief system is not biblical; it is magical and fantastical. That is a sign of deception and of lack of salvation. Y'all believe that God is playing; He is not. If the big thing is that the unseen realm exists, then most of you are already lost. It has always existed. If you have never experienced it, you should ask yourself why? If God is supernatural, then why have I not experienced the supernatural in my own life? Why hasn't God reached out to me personally in a supernatural way? The answer may be that none of you are His. Now, you may be offended by this statement, but not offended by the reality of which it speaks. Most believers are going to hell. That is biblical. The notion that most believers will go to heaven based on the recitation of a prayer and the confession that Christ is Lord and Savior is of the anti-christ, whom most of these so-called believers worship. Most are so lost that they do not know that they are lost. If God has never shown up in your life, it is because you are not His. Pure and simple.
