This woman really has big inspiration on my life..she went through so much as a child, abandoned by her parents, raised by her grandmother, met Ike and was abused for over 17 years..she got tired of it, went into Buddhism and divorced him..moved on healed herself and started her career back up she's not only an inspiration to black women but to all women..she is the reason women are knowing their worth.❤ Thank you Tina. My NYC high school dance teacher, Marcial Gonzalez, was the person rolling the dice at 1:20 and exchanging a smile with Tina at 3:18. Such a lovely man. He inspired soooo many of his students. I was a horrible dancer and he was so patient. He even let a troubled teen live with him temporarily. Marcial, we love you.

I was so blessed to see Tina live in 2000 (Twenty Four Seven tour) in Greensboro, NC (USA) and in 2008 (50th anniversary/farewell tour) in Washington DC. She was incredible as anyone who saw her live can attest. I guess I just assumed she would live forever because she was so strong and so resilient.

The song of a broken woman putting herself back together piece by piece, because her greatest love was her greatest pain. Hearing this song as a child in the 80's I couldn't understand the words, but I still loved the song anyway....might have had something to do with Anna Mae's incredibly powerful and unique voice. When I saw the movie as an adult, then I understood, and I cried for this woman, but we are all blessed because there will never be another like her.
This song is about a person only wanting a physical relationship without the complications of calling it love. I’ve always liked it, but never really understood it until adulthood. Sex isn’t always “making love”. Sometimes it’s just sex.
