One of the most powerful songs from the Attention Attention album, we're all the same at the end of the day, but it's easier to point out the highs and lows in someone else's life than to look at our own. In the Get Up video we first see a character who's reached rock bottom, we watch her fighting to get up and live again with compassion. special is a different, it's easy to pass judgement on others than it is to take stock of our lives and make them better. Be kind to yourself and others, we are here for a short time, don't waste it on meaningless nonsense.

As someone who tends to compare myself to my amazing peers on those self-deprecating days, this song always reminds that it's okay to not be as special as them, and being my ordinary self is perfectly okay.
no one is truly extraordinary. they're just better at SOME things, like making themselves look good, putting on a good show for social media, maybe they got lucky, were born into better circumstances, whatever. but ultimately, we all have our own unique contributions to give to the world, and that makes us ALL special.

This song and video perfectly encapsulates everything I hate about modern society. We've traded personal relationships and other people for money, fame, things. I wish everyone would put their phones down for a designated part of the day and just go talk to stangers... We're all the same, we need to remember that.

well said! quick story because, well i have to! haha .. i went to their concert here in NY.. took about 15 sec of footage from a few of my favorite songs (which coincidentally havent even gone back to watch, and it was 8 months ago) but otherwise was so engulfed in the awesomeness in a sea full of people that when they finished the last song, I looked around, I apparently caused a 15 foot radius around me of emptiness due to my loud singing ! hahah .. I literally didnt even know it .. prior the place was packed and we were sitting between what I can consider about 80 people that were close.. Anyway, best band, best concert ever!

I remember being at one of their first shows after their first album released. I was at their show in Houston year before last and they are still amazing. The way they reach the crowd and talk about mental health issues. They are talking about the things that not many artists are. I love these guys.
