      @duroxkilo@duroxkilo11 ай бұрын
    • @@duroxkilo I was not correcting a 'compliment', or any sarcastic or snide variation thereof. Of course I would not have corrected a compliment, or a clever sarcastic comment. The original poster's comment: 'is something to be desired', made no sense as he had just said 'Carl may have good looks, but...' The operative words here are 'may and 'but' which render the comment a curious contradiction of thoughts and expressions. If the OP had said 'Carl has good looks and his chess playing is something to be desired', that would have made perfect sense and been funny because neither is true. I was correcting an incorrect expression, which made no sense, given the rest of the OP's comment, that is all. I wasn't rude to the OP in any way. Btw, I see that a number of people agree with my initial comment - that the OP actually meant 'leaves a lot to be desired'. Incidentally, I'm taking it very easy whilst writing this. You seem to have simply not understood the OP's mistake and are erroneously reading into, and making much more of the issue than necessary.

    • Yeah, I'm not good enough to see it either - I can see how the two moves black can do to get out of check cost him his queen, but whenever I try to game it out myself after that it just ends up as messy draws, I'm not seeing the killing blow
