ANTIQUE SHOPPING HAS BECOME ONE OF OUR FAVOURITE PASTIMES// Happy Tuesday, Time for a new video! We can't help it but antique & vintage shopping has become one of our favourite pastimes and we're always on the hunt for something lovely for our house. It's so nice to check out new antique places and share them with you. We found some lovely items, we were looking for some furniture pieces as well but sadly weren't lucky. We keep on looking though!
We found a lovely antique/vintage place right in the centre of Ironbridge which is a large village in Telford with an amazing history! The world's first iron bridge was erected here in Shropshire in 1779 and started the Industrial Revolution.
After we left Ironbridge we went to another antique centre that we fell in love with last year: Church Stretton Antiques Market - we can highly recommend this place!
We hope you like this video - thank you so much for watching and your incredible support! Kirsten & Joerg xx

  • Joerg simply lights up my day. He's such a calm, obliging chap. He has an extremely unique personality but yet it reminds me of my step father who has passed away. It just makes me smile to watch his reactions and remember my step father. Joerg seems the salt of the earth, just a good honorable man.

  • I used to paint the Toby jugs when they they were in production over 20 years ago . They were all made at the Beswick factory in Longton Stoke on trent .they were made over at least 50 years . Royal Doulton owned beswicks . All the Toby jugs were hand painted & were more expensive to buy back then . Now you can pick them up quite cheap especially around Stoke at local antique fairs .Also the Beatrix potter & Bunnykins were made at Beswicks as were the beswick animals . It was a big factory with lots of many departments making different things . It’s a shame now the factory was knocked down & is now a Matalan .Eventually Wedwoods took over Royal Doulton . The Wedgwood factory is a fabulous museum now & worth a visit so much to see xxxx

    • Oh wow, you painted the Toby jugs back then? That's amazing! There are such wonderful ones out there. Oh no, I must say we hate Matalan, we never set foot in there. I know, we visited the Wedgwood factory & museum a couple of years ago and also had afternoon tea there - I still had my blog then so we need to go back to film.

  • Joerg check out Warren and Wignall auctions in Leyland Lancashire. They have an online only auction at the moment and I’m sure I saw some Maritime paintings last night in the catalogue. It’s lot number 716 there’s two paintings I think! The auction starts at 10 am tomorrow morning. You can watch it online which is great fun even if you aren’t bidding. They have an upstairs and a downstairs auction so you need to check which number lots are downstairs or upstairs. They have some really beautiful furniture especially if you like Georgian and Victorian and there’s always loads of China and Crystal glass ware. I’ve never bid on anything yet I just enjoy looking at the catalogue each week and watching. Sometimes it’s heartbreaking seeing the low prices some of the beautiful furniture goes for but so many people would rather have flat pack modern stuff nowadays. Give me proper handcrafted solid wood furniture made with love any day…..after all something which has lasted for over 200 years and still looks amazing is surely a better investment than MDT or chipboard which doesn’t last five years ….if your lucky. Sadly another sign of our throwaway society.

The two of you are so cute together and I really like your style of fashion and design as well. My husband and I also enjoy antiques and we have several collections within our home. My husband is very knowledgeable about antiques and knows a lot about glass and old bottles, etc. We have a vast collection of Watt Pottery and we also enjoy the green jadeite (Fire King) pieces too. At one time, my husband had a vast collection of vintage RS Prussia porcelain (chocolate pots, euers, cracker jars, etc.). He is 86 and I am 68 and we sell "trash to treasure" type items out of our large barn on the weekends here in our small town in New England, USA. I look forward to watching you guys as you travel more and find your treasures. Stay safe!

  • Never be afraid to ask what their best price is. Most antique dealers almost expect and many enjoy a good old haggle over prices. If they really want to make a sale they’ll always cut a deal even if it’s only 10% off. The fabric looks like it might have been Sanderson which is a good British make. If you want a larger antiques centre there’s a big one here in Preston in Lancashire. It’s called Preston Antique s Centre and it’s off New Hall Lane Preston in part of the old Horrockes Cotton Mill buildings. It’s one of the largest if not the largest Cotton Mills in Preston. I’ve not managed to get there yet but I’ve seen their website and it looks amazing.

  • Such a nice trip. Love the music it is very fitting for the views of this little store and village. Think it is fun to start out like this and get your cottage together exactly as you would love it! It will mean so much more to you in the end, that you pick out each piece with love.

    • Thanks so much! We live in a Victorian Terraced house, not a cottage I'm afraid, kitchen has definitely some cottage vibes though.

  • Thank you again Kirsten and Jorge. As soon as I get a notification that you have uploaded a video I can’t wait to see it. I love antiquing but in England it’s the most fun. I use to go to all the markets in London back in the early 90’s. Now I’m in Virginia but I am surrounded by many lovely antiques from England. Cheers😍

  • The jam/marmalade glass container is fab - but the spoon is a little big - you need a silver one with a wide corrugated spoon bit - that would be fab 🥰. Looking forward to seeing the attic room

  • What delightful people. Staffordshire figures are out of favour currently, buy the ones you like at a good price. Like all things they will be back in fashion, as I do.

  • Love this video 😀, your purchasers are lovely , when I was small my mother had a Toby jug on a window sill , it would frighten me so much , that every time I came in that room I would tell her to draw the curtains 😀😆😂🤣🤣, I love looking round the centers with you it's so interesting 🤔, when. We go on a Day out we love to buy something we both like so that when we look at it ,it brings back memories of our day out , it's so lovely , Take Care you two 🥰 Oh and yes I'm being very patient and wait for the reveal of your attic room , so looking forward to it 😀xx

  • I have really missed going to our local antique mall in Florida during COVID or even just browsing at Goodwill, the charity shop. Or buying yarn in person rather than ordering online. We are all vaccinated in our family so we are going to venture north to Virginia and DC in a few weeks. It will be very strange driving for hours after being at home for months and months. During isolation we did redo our front garden, installing a little stone walk, seating area and plants that do well here in the heat and humidity. Azaleas are long finished blooming, begonias in the window boxes are looking very pink and showy, English ivy is peeking out between them. Daylilies are putting out flower stems so in a few weeks we will have yellow daylilies blooming. We have warm days of 85 (29.4 C) now but not too much humidity yet. Once that sets in it gets uncomfortable outdoors. Everyone rushes to get all their gardening done by the end of May and then everyone disappears into the AC indoors until end of October.
