Love my '02 Camry. 331,000 miles...& still going strong.
Automatic transmission? 211k on mine and I'm putting 50k a year on her so can't wait to hit the big 300k mile mark!
Dam it. My '03 just hit 306,000 and it looks like the engine is done. Oil pressure won't hold up. I wanted to make 333,333 miles, aka one-third of a million miles.
@@stevechance150 Aw man sorry to hear that. I wouldn't be disappointed one bit thought, that's a hell of a lot of miles especially for a 4 cylinder engine
Mine is also 2002 has got 253,000 miles on it and still going strong too.
Are you guys fkn serious? Everyone has more than 250k on their ‘02 Camry? Wow. I’m about to buy one tomorrow, this was rather helpful.
I bought my 2005 LE 4 cyl. brand new. Fifteen years later and 218,000 miles...perfect! I changed oil every 5K (Mobil 1), kept good plugs in the engine, and did periodic radiator flushes. No problems at all! It always ran like it was new. Here's the kicker: original water pump, original alternator, original starter, original wheel bearings, and never had the AC recharged/serviced! Of course I had the front brakes (twice), rear brakes (once) and shocks replaced (once). It don't get any better than that! Not to mention...35 MPG on the freeway. The best car I could have ever bought in 2005. Why did I sell it...I bought a new 2020 LE 2.4. The 2020 has loads of advanced technology to assist in driving safety. Hey...I'm 68 now...I need the help. lol
Jl
BS! I replaced plenty of items on my 2006 Camry already. 230k mi. Wife's Honda at 300k mi has been trouble-free, but Toyota is certainly not better than Honda.
Mine has had constant repairs. Everything on here and more. The latest is the head bolts and head gasket. I wouldn't buy a Toyota again.
@@rft2001 that's odd, I have put my 2006 camry through the rininger and it runs great never had issues and I have pushed it beyond it limits
@@GODS_OUTLAW As in all cars there are good and bad ones. I do want to say though that the biggest problem with this generation of Camry's is the engine and with the head gasket/head bolts in particular. Toyota should have addressed the issue. It is widespread and accounts by far the most NHTSA complaints.
When the evap canister makes it in the top 5 issues with a vehicle, it's probably a damn good vehicle
What if the evaporator canister is in your five top issues with the car that’s not good your evaporator canister should last the life of the car
Until your head bolts and head gasket go.
Exactly the car last just as long as something that supposed to outlast everything else
To save evap do not over fill tank as fuel will get in it or so much fumes as it is close. My 03 gets evap code everytime i totally fill up, clear it and stays off once i burn some fuel.
@@JayElement13 Should, but it's very easy to damage with operator error
Just bought one today and only has 100k miles on it and only 2 owners. Really good condition. I’m so happy 😀
The only problem is that it'll never break, and I'll never be able to buy a new car because it keeps on running like new
That just means more $$$ for other things to enjoy 😁
we have the same problem. 6 years ago i bought a 99 with 113k miles. i only drive about 2k miles a year and im 52. im afraid it will be my last car

@@EvendimataE i LOVE my 99 camry. The 90's 4 cylinders are super freaking reliable when taken care of. Heck mine has 300,000+, and when i bought it off the first owner, the engine had no oil inside of it. Its been a great car
@@EvendimataE thats actually hilarious. I'm 21, I've got a 2002 and people keep asking me when I'm getting a new car. I don't want to get rid of this car because based on my experience with the car its a tank. I have had trucks reversed into me, a highway spinout that hit head on with oncoming traffic. I drove into a 3 foot ditch today, and steered out. passing by an accident ironically.. So I'm thinking maybe I'll just get a second vehicle to enjoy on the weekend ect..
That generation of Camry's are some of the highest quality vehicles ever made. It doesn't look like anything impressive, but it's perfect in all ways that matter. The 4 cylinder in that model has perfect level of power for normal driving while still being decent on gas, and they seem to run forever. I bought my 06 for about 3K, incredibly reliable car.
I bought a 06 for 2000 after all the work I put into it 5 months ago an it runs pretty good 215k miles
I bought my ‘06 for 2K and it’s a beauty. She runs like new I love her.
@@vendrick4571 how many miles are on your 06 camry
With Toyota's rep and the car market these days I see people trying to sell these models for $5000-6000. They ARE nice, but it's a 15 year old no-frills car. In REALLY good condition with decent miles most I'd pay would be $4000.
I paid 3900 for my 06 with 125k miles. Getting ready to put on a starter.
Big shout out to the camera man, when getting into that tight spot Near the gas pedal....

Yeah, great shot.
Now that I saw this video on Gas pedal sensor, I am willing to bet that mine will fail by Friday. I have 247,000 miles and have not had any major issues, yet.
As an owner of a 2002 Camry the only problems I’ve had is a starter, alternator, water pump, O2 sensors, PS hose, and gas cap o-ring. Super reliable car.
That is great to hear! Thanks for watching!
Around what mileage did the starter , alternator and water pump go
@@jshaka3769 I think it was maybe around 150k to 180k mi. I paid someone to do the water pump but the others I did myself. The hardest thing was moving the tensioner on the serpentine belt.
I've got a 2004 Camry that hasn't had any of those problems, at least not yet! Keeping my fingers crossed!

Original engine and transmission? What have you replaced? Damn 420,000
421000 on the original engine and transmission? WOW!
What type of oil do you use and which spark plugs are in it?
Oh that's scary my car is still going also 330,170 lol I don't think it will ever die tbh
mine have 390k miles still original engine and transmission it eat 1qt of oil each 500miles but ride very nice just brakes and oli changes thats all
Just got my first car (I’m 16) it is a 05 Camry with 106k miles I am beyond stoked to have a reliable car to my name!
My first car was/ and still is a ‘02 Camry, my mama bought it when I was 2. I am now about to 21 years old & it’s still alive. It’s always gonna be my first car & great car. A car I’ll never forget 🤟🏽💜. But soon on to new beginnings but definitely a car I’ll always cherish.
Yeah same story with mine lol, my dad bought his new in 2002 when I was only 1. We still have it, it’s at 270k miles, but it’s retired now. When I needed a car at 18, my sister was still driving the Camry to work so I had to buy my own. I loved that car so much I bought my own identical Camry, and I’ve had no issues with it at all. Such a comfortable and reliable car
OK but do you like nachos???
This video is so helpful and the mechanic seems like a genuinely sweet guy. Thanks for this video ✅

new park plugs
is that the 4 cyl or v6? and how has the car been up till now?
2005 2.4 5 speed standard. I got 181K on it. Runs great! Got it 4 years ago for cash. 3,300.00 after tax! Since I installed tires, a battery, a alternator, a slave cylinder and accumulator for the clutch, gas, oil and a light bulb! I put 30K on in 4 years and am very happy with my used Toyota!!!
1A Auto, you do excellent videos....very informative, easy to understand, and no annoying music or attitudes.
Thank you!
The real problem is getting rid of it because it'll run forever.
You are spot on for common problems! I own an 2002 XLE. Purchased for $2500 at 184k. Engine valve cover gasket was first order of business when I purchased it. You just helped me diagnose the rattle under the hood. It’s the intake manifold. Thank you.
How did u know? Mine 2005 camry v4 engine might have the same problem

You must have a long commute to hit almost 30k miles in 4 months
@@ZFnr4y058mr i commute like that too and have used a 99 camry for about 7 years. Keep oil and fluids changing, take good care of the frame and replace the shocks, other suspension stuff ect and it rides like new
Nice! I just bought an '06 and I have a similarly long commute. Bought it with 208k, and I may hit 400k in 4-5 years if all goes well. How much you pay for yours?
I got an 05 Camry. It needed a bit of work when I got it (front and rear brakes, one wheel bearing and a cabin filter). Aside from the sagging headliner and an issue with my headlights, it's a great car! It starts every time hasn't failed me yet. Couple little dings and dents from the previous owner but there is almost no rust on it. Clear coat is peeling off the back bumper, so it doesn't look that pretty but it never ceases to amaze me how well she runs for 18 years old. She's almost at 270,000km.

I also love my 03 Camry 3.0 V6, only 103,300 miles.this car's a gem, plenty of power and nice and smooth.
jus got an 03 camry lxe v6 at 117000 for 3200 and it drives jus like yours...
I can attest to these. These were the only things that ever went wrong on my 04 Camry. No big deal, car still drove fine

How goes your camry?
I bought a used 2003 and I love it. This thing is a beast! I got 191K miles on it. Only issue I run is the valve cover gasket. Replacing that is a 1 hour job if you stop for a beer. Great video!
Valve cover gasket usually goes shortly before the head gasket/bolts go so I wouldn't count on that car for too much longer.
Up to 200k with no signs of additional wear… it’s a great car and my wife is using it to learn how to drive. Hope new cars last as long… haven’t bought a new one in a lo g time! Cheers.
@@marlonargueta Good. I would love to pick up a late 90's model when they were better made. That head bolt issue pops up in so many of these that Toyota should be ashamed for not addressing the issue. Just when I thought that my Camry was going to last a long time, after replacing so many other problems, the head gasket and bolts went but at least I made it to 176,000 miles. The only other cars that I have had last that long were the old Subaru's, also from the 90's (wouldn't go near a Ru today), a late 80's Ford Escort and a few Geo Prisms and Trackers.
191k is barely broken in my 03 at 330k

My 05 Gen 5.5 V6 made in Japan. Changed oil and oil filter annually with Mobil One and K & N Oil Filter. Changed Serpentine belt, maybe added a little freon, flushed radiator , and front left boot cover. Strange noises from AC vents, just change the settings to where the air flows and the sound goes away. Car is flawless and the best one that Toyota made in the past 20 years.
PS Added Blue Tooth adapter plugged in cigarette lighter DC socket which broadcasts over FM, and I stream music. Who needs a new car to just listen to music, I dont, and still have 6 changer CD and also (hehe) Cassette. Major fix I did was change the gasket oil leak (cheap fix) replaced all 4 shocks and the tires on them lasted 1 year before I had to replace all 4 tires. That was like $1K for shocks and tires. The only problem I have with the car now is it rattles when its idle. Does that happen to your Camry? im wondering what it is.

So how does a 2004-2006 canary solara with the 3.3 V6 compare to this? Similar issues?
I noticed that oil thing and now im glad i saw this lol, i was researching a code p0171 and p0174 so now i know i will need to change my gasket

Hello sir i have question i have 2005 Camry I want to change the engine do the engine for 2007up to 2010 fit for my car because its look same
I am looking at buying an 03 to replace my 99 and she has a little more miles than I normally go for but I found her thru a customer that I changed his car battery for and am doing some homework about common issues. I love my 99, its at 322k and still love her, she is just getting small.😆
We have an 2004 Camry, still runs perfectly and has never let us down. We once got an impressive 38 MPG driving from LA to Albuquerque with the AC on and loaded with luggage. And crap! I should immediately stop topping off the fuel tank. I have the bad habit of topping off until gasoline is at the filler neck. That ruins EVAP canisters. 😮 I didn't know how much trouble it would be to replace it.
Great video but I'm really interested to see more about the GTO in the background. Tell us what kind of problems they have...

with the intake manifold plenum would the rattling increase when you accelerate?
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Does this apply for the v6 models as well?
Hi,I drive a 2005 Camry and when I scanned it ,it brought up a P0016 & P0037 pls what does these codes mean? Also my oil indicator lights blinks and goes out when rev up the rpm .I've changed the oil switch once and yet it's still blinks. Please what could be the problem and what do I need to do?
thank you
We got a 2005 LE. None of the issues from this video yet with over 250k miles original owner. But many front wheel bearings hub replacements. I think I replaced them 3 times going on 4 now. And the other day it dumped a huge oil leak from the crank pulley area. I was thinking it was the oil seal from the crank but it might be the pump. Either way, the cover needs to be pulled. Not even a drip before this. Now it's a stream. Went from dry to cry in 1 day. Oh I did replace the valve cover seal like 2 years ago and it looks to be leaking again. Maybe I did it wrong. But it's very little. Also, I think the motor mounts are done. There's a rattle on start up only. And this might need a valve adjustment for the oil burning during start up. 🤔 Replaced the timing belt and water pump maybe at 170k.
Depends how maintained it was. It needs to change ATF transmission liquid each 40k km. At least each 80k.
On my 2006 Camry when I press arm alarm button on fob the horn short beeps twice and no locking happens, perhaps indicating a door is left open but I can't isolate the problem on any of the door switches. What could make the arming not work? I've disabled the audible sounds. Only lights flash. Btw car of the century.
