Dave has been playing with the new Arctis 9 headset from SteelSeries, complete with 2.4GHz wireless, a Discord certified microphone and VERY comfy ear cups.
Dave got some ears-on with SteelSeries' new Arctis 9 Wireless headset, featuring 2.4 Ghz wireless transmission, Bluetooth, retractable noise cancelling microphone and compatibility with both the PlayStation 4, and upcoming PlayStation 5.
The headset also includes a wireless range of 40ft, as well as a 20 hour battery life and audio pass-through to allow for easy use with your desktop speaker or mobile device.
"There's a nerd. Lets get him!" Made my night friend.
Laughed way too hard at this
when i heard that i knew i had to like the video straight away 😂
mans used the phub intro for his background music
Bluetooth compatibility is useful for people who don't have discord on their console. So they use phone to connect them to the discord and then play game audio trough the 2.4ghz wireless. One of my mates literally bought these just to have that instead of using 2 seperate headsets. Top quality product!
Thanks for the review and I get you about little things that make things easier!👍👍
I went all steelseries after trying a few different types. Love the look and quality
just got mine, i did not know about the line out on the hub, thanks, I can now seamlessly transition from speaker to headphones.
My dad only got these for me that’s to your review. They should be here in about a week and a half, super excited! Thanks for the review
Just got this headset few days ago for PCVR loving it :)
The thing that sold me on the Arctis 7 was that ability to switch instantaneously from computer speakers to the headset with a single button press. Huge quality of life improvement and I can't believe no one else has figured it out, as far as I know.
Imagine watching ⬛🟧 and they turn off and speaker start blasting 😭
Great to know it seems to give good comfort
Still using my Steelseries Arcis 3 which I bought (for 80 bucks!) in 2017 and it’s still outperforming and outshining most of my friend’s mics today in 2020. Just an excellent product overall.
hyperx clouds have better mic and cheaper
My months of using the steelseries arctic 9x I have really loved it.
Juvonte Grayson I use my 9x with the Wireless Xbox adapter, is that any different?
No I wouldn't think so.
Juvonte Grayson so is it multiplatform?
@@melu0o no only xbox and pc
@@melu0o it works for pc Xbox, and in a way ps4. It will also work for Xbox series x. And I think it works on phone with Bluetooth
If you got a problem with your Steelseries headset (or any headset) being too tight, I suggest stacking some book (or something similar) on the edge of your desk to about the width of your head, and just leave your headset there. This worked for me with my Arctis Pro Wireless, and so far there’s no issues. Nothing broke, but if you’re trying this, be careful.
on console its nice to switch of the game music for a longer grind session and just use your cellphone for a podcast or spotify. plus you can answer call. Its a useful feature;)
Really great sense of humour
2:40 regarding to your comment, I do like the bluetooth in tandem with the 2.4GHz wireless transmitter. I use my PC for work however I do sometimes need to use my Mac to do conference call and that is very handy to have both on. Yes, overkill but useful 3:35 I use a hotkey to switch between speakers and headphone. It's instant instead of fumble for the power button on the headphone; but yes, it's a very neat feature of the transmitter. I do have the Xbox transmitter and rather double up its usefulness by connect the transmitter with my Xbox controller
Hi. How's the mic quality for conference calls? Is it decent? Watched tons of youtube mic tests of the Arctis and they all sound like radio. How's' your experience with it? Is it good enough for online meetings? Thanks!
Just got my pair of these in the mail today. Awesome headset. I would definitely recommend it. Before buying it I read a lot of reviews on the 9x regarding connectivity issues and that simply was not a problem for me, at least it hasn't been yet. I have used them for around 12 consecutive hours straight out of the box. Sound quality is great, mind you, I was using Astro a10s before this. Range is superb. If you have any questions for me on the headset that wasn't covered in this video feel free to ask.
The 9X sometimes has connectivity issues because it's forced to use Microsoft's wireless tech. The other Arctis headsets use Steelseries wireless instead, which is streets ahead.
@@t0b0 oh thank you. That makes a lot of sense.
Im waiting for mine to arrive and im hoping i can say the same!
These are Bluetooth and wired ? Also how do you charge it just curious. I just ordered mine and just checking if its worth it
@@Affectinq- The Arctis 9 has 2.4ghz + Bluetooth. The 2.4ghz is lossless low-latency for PC/PS using a transmitter. Bluetooth is for mobile devices. You can connect the 9 via wire, but you can't use the mic that way. The Arctis 9 charges via micro USB.
I have a giant head also!! Thanks for reviewing 😊
They are the sponsor of OG dota so that makes them one of the team's primary success to victories
Yeah, don't think I'll be winning prize money either. I have had my Arctis 9 and Aerox 3 for about a week and I really like SteelSeries products so far. Thanks for the review. I think you nailed the caveats.
Lol @ lil Timmy reference it drew me into the review really good review also helped with ,my decision
As soon as my brain noticed the background music I was frightened
Cool man, just got one yesterday.
great review
Nice review. I've actually been looking closely at steel series headsets for an upgrade over my 7 year old headset.. can't decide between this and the arctis pro. I might spring for this one because of your review.
If you’re on a budget get these. If you want Bluetooth you’ll have to get the best model of the Arctis pro which is around 300. Steelseries says the audio range on the pros is better but it’s really not, just stupid marketing. The pros also have the hinge connecting the band to the cups full metal. I’m not sure if the Arctis 9 has this but the Arctis 7 has plastic and they can easily break or get flimsy from this part.
@@bentstick6494 yeah upon further inspection I found some of the things you're talking about to be true, but I also saw that the arctis pro wireless has a plastic earcup breaking problem.. I'm not on a budget, saving money is always good, but I think I'll try my luck with the pro wireless. Thanks man.
@@ethangaines2658 how is your luck with the headset tho?
@@derekyu5498 I went with the arctis pro and haven't looked back. It's great. Well worth the money.
@@ethangaines2658 Is the bass good enough for arctis pro?
An unboxing would have been useful. And a comparison with the Pro Wireless too
Pro Wireless are superior and in no way Steel Series Arctis 9 can beat that xD
@@punjabishaw3172 really? I’m planning on getting a headset but I don’t know which one is better
@@rupansunderapandyan2810 The Pro Wireless. This is a feature stripped version of that - so if you look at the Pro Wireless and don't see anything you want save yourself the $130.
@@Euvyne ok thx I’ll get the pro wireless then
@@rupansunderapandyan2810 the pro wireless has absolute shit mic quality.
my man really used the phub music for the background. wow.
I mostly use mine with one ear off while I'm driving a truck for calls. It does an excellent job cancelling wind noise, and a DD13 engine. When I was driving an International with a Cummins X15 I was still easy to hear, but some engine noise was audible. My biggest complaint is how long it takes to turn on. Hold for power, then hold for bluetooth. when answering the phone, it's a faff indeed.
you should try "Bose headphones" best active noise cancellation in the game!!!!
WE WANT A COMPARISON BETWEEN THESE AND THE ARCTIS PRO WIRELESS . . . .PLEASE
so we just gonna ignore the phub intro in the back?
I heard it to
@@its_ponk3863 when was it?
@@eyeofsauron2812 it’s the background music for the whole vid but you can hear the actual intro around 0:30
@@its_ponk3863 👌🏻
How are they now? Still happy with them? My main game is apex legends, thinking of picking these up
I answer phones on my phone while gaming lol love this no cables
What type of headrest is that? Are these strap like headrests really comfortable? I've tried 4 different headphones in the past year and all 4 have been uncomfortable on the top of my head because of the headrest. Even if it has a lot of cushion it still doesn't help. So far I've tried the following; ATH-PG1, Hyperx Cloud Mix, Hyperx cloud flight, and Razer Blackshark V2 Pro. These were in order and also in order of least comfortable to the most. I've never tried one with a strap as a headrest like this headset. Not even sure how to categorise them.
Dope! I’ve been eyeing SteelSeries for the past 2 years, but I’ve held off because I knew the next gen consoles were coming. Now, I’ll cop an Arctis headset for the XSX and either an Arctis headset or a Pulse 3D Wireless headset for the PS5. Great review!
If you’re gonna get a steelseries headset get the Arctis 9x. It’s more customized towards Xbox while the Arctis 9 is more for PS4/5.
Steelseries top brand. Products lasts years. My mouse just broke after 8 years of use.
Do you have any idea how these are with ps4? Connectivity wise? I heard some people having difficulty, saying these aren't for playstation? What's your thoughts bud? Great video btw!😊
I have the Artic 1 wireless for xbox n switch Excellent headset
That IS the reason I bought them. Being able to listen to music whilst playing something like Dark Souls, which has no music pretty much, is excellent.
Im loving the Arctis 7P’s for PS5
Thumbs up for using Celsius my man!
would you recommend this headphone over corsair virtuoso rgb wireless?
Going to check this out
I got a pair of these a few months ago for my Xbox one but ended up using them more for my pc so no regrets
This review is for the 9, not for the 9X.
Oop my bad sir
SteelSeries make great Headphones. I own the Arctis 7 and uses for Work and Gaming..
According to The Technie rewiev you can turn off the dts 2.0 virtual surround in the software. He even shows it, kinda deal breaker when you say it can't be turned off. I guess software was updated?
Is there a difference between buying use Artic instead of New? BTW this is for the PS5
I bought these for PS5 so I can have discord audio through Bluetooth while having a solid connection with the dongle for gameplay.
I’m thinking of buying them too. Are they good?
I have my pre order of ps5 too, can you recomend me those headsets?? It would be very useful if you can tell me :)
Nobody asked
@@plewto5727 if nobody asked then why reply? Lmaoooooo
@@brvndon0773 nah i was just saying noone asked for your opinion i never said that i didnt ask for my reply.
I would like to see a compare to the hp omen mindframe.. I'm not sure what I should get of them 2
They even double as great earmuffs 😉✌😆
6:30 yeah its a problem but if you use the headset i think you will just learn to not touch the wheels so no problem after using it for a lot of time
More hardware reviews pls
So I could use the PlayStation app on my phone to do party chat with my friends and then hear the game audio through Xbox right?
I listen to music while i talk to my friends and play almost every time i play.
That game/voice volume control!!!! It's the only reason I've been hangin onto my Astro A50s for so long, the battery lasts like a couple hours now, on it's last leg. I already bought the 9's today to make the switch because I find them so comfy.
In terms of comfort: can you feel your ears pressuring at the inside?
The comments about your head made me laugh, thumbs up lol
Btw, if anybody has tinnitus or headaches after playing, turn the bass down
Thanks I have tinnitus after shooting a lot of weapons in the military lol
@@horn1225 turn the bass off on your rifles. im kidding
can definitely relate with the thing where it messes up input output when using other headsets and you turn them on of off, especially with discord input output smh
Can this be used with a bluetooth device as well as a wired connection (aux) simultaneously? Let's say I want to simultaneously pair this to my phone via bluetooth and also to my piano keyboard via aux cable, will this be possible? Please do let me know. If not, do you know what other headphones support this feature.
Thanks! Can you connect these to your PC and android phone simultaneously?
You can!
If you have it connected wireless through the pc and bluetooth to the phone can you switch between one sour or the other or is it always both on simultaneously?
the dual bluetooth-2.4ghz connection is great when gaming and answering an incoming phone call.
I'm looking for a pair of Bluetooth headphones for playing cod mobile. Is this what I need
Exactly what you need bud
Is there a removable battery? Is there an arctis pro v2 coming? Can I have these hooked up to ps5 and PC same time and just flick a switch to change what platform I'm using them on like the Astro A50s?
You might be able to if you connect to bluetooth on ps and dongle thing to pc
i have the same astro a50s for 7 years now. The audio always switches from the pc to my headset or vice versa
gaming ok and music? .... its ok. sound and bass? or other model? only wireless :)
Finally I can play console and use discord and still hear my game
what bout simultaneous audio inputs? can you, for example, plug USB into PS4 and use the line in on the wireless dongle to plug aux into a PC and listen to both audios at the same time?
yes, except that the pc/laptop/cellphone must connect via bluetooth if you are connected to the PS4
i think the bluetooth connection is so, if ur gaming and get a phone call. U can answear while using the headset and it lower down the volume of the game, atleast it did that with the artic pro :)
i have had the arctis 3 and 7 i think im going to buy the 9 i never used the wireless on the 7 i used to play on console
Could you provide the link for the headphone stand (2:44)
Damn it another pair of SS headsets I have to purchase. The ARCTIS 1, ARCTIS Pro Wireless and ARCTIS+ Gamedac are all excellent. With the PS5 dropping optical support, the ARCTIS Pro Wireless may no longer work. So the ARCTIS 9 comes at a perfect time.
I'm looking for a headset that works wirelessly where possible, but can also accept an analog input for audio and mic to use with xbox or ps4 controllers. This doesn't sound like it's it.
Is the box which makes this headset wireless USB 2/3(.1) or USB C?
Will this work on the ps5 and the Xbox series x? Thx!
The pros are still the best the battery switching is satisfying and are better cuz who would have to sit next to your plug so you charge your headset
So if I buy that headset now will I be able to use it on the ps5 when it’s out?
Yea so steel series just announced these are usable with the PS5
Yeah it should work on ps5
Meanwhile im still using my Skull Candy PLYR 1 headset from 2013 but I love them...😂
I thought I was the only person in existence still using the PLYR 1 headset lol. Originally got them for my xbox 360 on the day they were release and they haven't failed me yet, except for the ripped ear cups and foam contacting my ears and making them warm. Just picked up a Sennheiser RS 185 but the sound profile isn't that much different from the PLYR 1. Now considering getting the Arctis Pro.
Is this really worth it for ps5? Id rather wait the pulse 3d headsets. It seems Those will give the whole audio experience at its maximum.
Iv ordered them, I had the Sony gold headset that broke after less than a year, won't be buying a Sony ps headset again
Can i listen to the 3.5mm port and the bluetooth conection at the same time? For example conect to nintendo switch via 3.5mm and conect to discord on phone via bluetooth at the same time
I'm still on corsair void pro, I like the irregular shape of the ears cups and the mesh material that doesn't get stuck to the side of my face. Oval or circular headphones don't fit me properly.
Same here man. Picked up some steelseries Arctis 7’s and have never looked back.
@@Greatfulx question: does the arctic sound good, not Bum bum like razer in both music and games?
@@cashionsteven5695 Past Arctis yes, current Arctis I saw they lowered the frequency of the headset mic from 10,000 to 6,500. I was able to hear the difference and I bothered me a lot. I recently returned my Arctis 9’s and went with the Corsair Virtuoso and I love them. The again I use a Usb mic so all I use the mic on headset for would be game chat. The headset mic use to be good back then but right now it’s gotten work too guess “save money”
@@Greatfulx heheh me too, just bought the white version of it :)), love it but kinda bother when they get dirty, any tips for preserve leather earpad ? btw the virtuoso sound plain out of the box but some eq adjustment should do trick :)), the mic is goos for its price though :))
@@cashionsteven5695 yeah I love my eq preset. I got the se so I don’t get much stains but I’m sure a towel let with later should do it
so you can use ps5 sound and pc sound in the same time ?!
Have you tried the surround sound with a movie?
Please tell me there is an easy fix for this lol,I get an bad echo when gaming or watching movies,if I pull the left wheel all the way down it goes away, please help
What fos game u are playing?
I know this review is really old, but what it helps with is playing music while streaming and not getting striked. Just let your viewers listen to their own music at their own volume and you can just play the game
Not sure what the softest volume is on these, they sound great but I don’t wanna go deaf
Was that legit audio coming from the microphone then because that was shite
this or turtle beach elite atlas aero? (I can buy it turtle beach for 135€ and I don't have so much money to throw around)
Is this good for laptop? I think this headphones will look good with my Legion 5 i like the the design and quality.
Sort of. If you're okay with Bluetooth (and thus laggier audio), yes. If not, you'll have to be okay with having the little usb transmitter plugged in to your laptop. That's fine on a desktop but I could see it being annoying with a laptop.
1:18 ooooooh self burns those are rare
Finally a worthy successor to my arctis 3 bluetooth
I’m trying to decide whether I get these or Arctic 3 Bluetooth. How are the arctis 3 Bluetooth when it comes to sound quality for games and music?
@@derekcoxii2771 Bluetooth is honestly good if you fiddle with the Steelseries engine. I use it for gaming as well and i didn't notice any lag. Obviously it will be more consistent and hi res while wired but so far so good. I really like the dual source audio so i can use discord on my phone and have the game audio simultaneously on my laptop, its a feature i saw only at Steelseries though. If you have the money definitely go for the arctis 9 its just superior in every way.
Quyrew Awesome! Thanks
Dude where is you link?cant find this anywhere only 9x exist
Steelseries are just outstanding
No they aren't. The 7 series sounds worse than my hyperx cloud 2s which I got 4 years prior. The response is poor at the top end and needs extensive eq tweaking to make them listenable
@@willsoe agree i used sennheiser headset for 4 years and they sound the best even though i have the 5 and it sound good i do prefer the sennheiser than steelseries but yet i still use the arctis 5 you must tweaked the eq to make the audio good
