    • +Antoine Fauconneau most whales dont really mind that the cameraman is there because theyre too busy trying to get the female, so the whales simply leave the camera man alone, they know he/she is there but have no interest, also im pretty sure the cameraman is highly trained (-:

    • probably a remote control underwater camera. I don't think they would want humans that close, especially if giant whales were jumping up out of the water and crashing back down.

  • Just as any other child, I would ask everyone what their favourite animal. My mom always replied with "Whales, especially humback whales". I never understood why whales was her favourite animal until recently. Its such a beautiful creature. The way they manage to be so graceful while still being the largest creatures known on earth. If I could wish for one thing it would be to meet a whale some day. Would rather meet these whales than a celebrity ngl.

  • I wish I knew how complex the whales really were! I’ve seen one humpback carry its stillborn calf around for 3 days. She was clearly mourning. So, if they can mourn so deeply they must love. If they love then every other emotion MUST be felt, right? Love IS the most complex emotion. I like to believe that whales are exactly like us! That they communicate in complex sentences, that they speak with body language, that they “know” things. I don’t think they are aimlessly swimming and eating like fish. You look into the eye of a fish and tell me what you see. I see nothing. Pure carnality. Look into the eyes of a whale (or any other mammal i.e. porpoises, orca

    @ja_quest8144@ja_quest81445 жыл бұрын
    • When you look into the eyes of a fish, are you looking for what the fish is expressing feeling or looking for how you express feeling? :) If we expect language to be universal without understanding them or translating δεν μπορούμε να καταλάβουμε όι άλλοι

      @AnnemieM@AnnemieM8 жыл бұрын
    • +AnnemieM actualy the female always gets to choose. she chose the biggest and strongest for her offspring to have a better chance. if she didn't want to mate with him she wouldn't.. it happens in the animal world all the time.. but why wouldn't she, since that's her mission? just because they're animals, don't make the mistake of thinking they're not intelligent enough to make some choices.

      @liebeistfuralleda7652@liebeistfuralleda76528 жыл бұрын
    • liebeistfuralleda Animals don't necessarily think through what the ideal mate is, it's more down to instinct. The males of some organisms use attention grabbing methods (colorful plumage etcetera) that might win over pure fitness. The females don't always chose who the father is, rape is common in wildlife.

      @protocetid@protocetid8 жыл бұрын
    • +protocetid The evidence in female mate choice seems to indicate that females are very conscious and selective of the males they choose and it is a well-established fact that males who can produce more colorful plumage are more fit than the males who cannot produce colorful plumage. It is known as an "honest indicator" of health.
