Correct! Thats was my thought. Ronaldo can never play like this. Not only that, his fans claim that he is a really fit athlete but the fact is he doesn't even cover the ground as much as the way messi does. He just camps in the box and expects everyone else to do the hard and dirty work for him so he can just tap it in. He's been doing this since madrid days. Only rarely comes out of the box to claim the ball, whereas here you can see that messi is the heart of the team and is the main play maker. Most of the balls go through him..back to the saying, you cant compare a goal scorer to a great football player. This video is an example of just that!

The mistake was starting Gonzales. It should have been Lautaro or Dybala. Both are better. Argentina would have scored first. They had possession of the ball and way more completed passes. Messi was setting them up, but the fwds did nothing.

Messi was on his usual outstanding level, but some of his Argentine peers were way below their level....Enzo, Mac Allister, Molina....were very poor in the passing....and Ottamendi is just too slow to defend against young fast physically strong players like Uruguay front players.....they will need to get replacement there if they want to remain competitive at the highest level. This is absolutely unfair... but even if messi does not score nor win, he tries to make difference by aiding the midfield,dropping deep to create more control and by dribbling to break lines. But ronaldo is not so, he is better in scoring but he lacks these qualities , without these he is nowhere to be seen if he doesn't score. There's a reason for it..
