  • I'm pretty sure that when he says that "he can do better than that" at the beginning of I Never Learnt to Share it's actually because he loops that part for the whole song and people screamed really loud when they recognized the song. He's so goddamn adorable.

    @indierice7407@indierice74078 жыл бұрын
    • Indie Rice I'm not sure because I saw him live last week and people screamed as well on that song, maybe even louder, but he didn't start the loop over again. He did stop at the beginning of a song but it was "Limit To Your Love" which has no loop, so I guess he just felt he hadn't sang that part of the song the right way for the loop to flow

      @miguelbento8687@miguelbento86878 жыл бұрын
    • +Indie Rice Naw it's cause he clammed on a couple of those notes. Since he loops it through the whole song he had to get it right, or at least closer.

  • Much respect to James Blake. I've been lucky enough to see him in a small club in Leeds back in 2010, then at a bigger gig in London, then at Glastonbury. My two cents worth are that I agree with the whole "you have to be there" notion of being able to fully appreciate and enjoy his music live. Thats the short version. I'd encourage anyone to see him if they get a chance to. The slightly longer version is that various reasons, be it nostalgic memories or other, I'd say I preferred seeing him in a smaller, more intimate venue, where as at Glastonbury, although it was great to see him and I was happy that he got the recognition he deserved/had so many people enjoy his music, it was an odd atmosphere. I enjoy his music best when at home with the surround sound up. Its music that makes me think, not music that makes me drink. As nice as small intimate gigs are, I get that there is more money in larger gigs, and if thats what it takes to keep this guy making music, so be it.

    • neantibi, how anyone can think he is boring, they don't know his music well enough to appreciate him.

      @kathyhollenbach7413@kathyhollenbach74132 жыл бұрын
    • I think people just confuse “boring” with “toned-down”. James Blake isn’t the type to scream into the mic and jump around the stage to get the crowd pumped up. His music and persona is very relaxed and smooth like butter. Maybe people who didn’t listen to his music thought they were going to a Pitbull concert or something.

    • +Redd Vlogs It's just oldschool dubstep, heavily influenced by dub music from the Caribbean (that's where you hear the reggae). If you want more of this you can try listening to old Skream, The Others (Africa), Leofah or Digital Mystikz. A lot of electronic music that was made in the UK before 2007/2008 had that bass heavy dub feel to it.

It's like 90% live, he could give another musician or two some work and pull that shit off 100%. Edit: Before someone says I'm talking about live loops, I'm not - check Retrograde for an extra synth and a backing vocal at the end during "we're alone now."
