A "suite" mixed by me (MovieMongerHz) of the best fast-paced cues from Hans Zimmer (& James Newton Howard*)'s The Dark Knight (TDK) soundtrack. It's 13 minutes of pure energy and catchy music.
*I put the visual as Hans Zimmer's TDK because he undoubtedly composed the main themes for joker and batman and most (if not all) of this track. He's admitted (source needed) that he brought in James to write Bruce Wayne's persona for the first. James is not involved with the writing of the sequels.

this might be really obvious but upon several viewings i realized that harvey's coin wasn't with him when he was in the warehouse rigged with explosives. Personally I don't regard Christian Bale's acting as exceptional in this movie as Batman is more an epic symbol and doesn't have room for much 'acting'. I think if you talking about acting, Heath Ledger is the one that made this movie special for me. All the aspects of his character are so finely detailed. Nevertheless Bale plays Batman well.

This is definitely my favorite movie of all time. I've seen a lot of amazing films... but I can't get over every meticulous detail of this one. I'll always have room for it.
Precisely. It's so intricately crafted. It's beautiful and poetic and nothing short of a modern masterpiece.
Akash Vijay agreed
I'm obviously here for the soundtrack (because I think it's great), but I have to disagree with your assessment. This movie was a PG13 pander, I simply cannot take any movie seriously that panders for a lower aged demographic, when the subject matter is as mature as this. I don't even give a fuck if it's a comic book movie, this film should have been ten fold more dark and violent. It's about an epic struggle between the most morally concrete vigilante and the most morally empty (and corrupt) villain of all time. It would have served the movie much better if it was a little more honest about the violence, and more severe about it's darkness. I mean at least show joker mutilating ONE person in it, I mean really establish that he's a frigging psychopath. Instead we get a cut-away and a suggestions of violence at best. I just think it cheapens a character, that otherwise could have been more effective. Don't get me wrong, Ledger did outstanding, I just don't think the character was utilized to it's full potential from a directorial perspective. I also think you might have some sort of goggle/blinders on to the flaws. This movie is chock full of minor editing/consistency/plot flaws (and a couple major ones) that just kinda detract from the 'realism' it seemed to be going for. It had some great dialogue though, which really I think is what people tend to hold up in this movie (it's also got some atrociously bad dialogue in it as well). I don't know, I consider myself a film connoisseur and an even bigger fan of the Batman cannon in general, and I just can't give this movie a 'masterpiece' status. It's just too flawed. I like it, I think it's really good, but I think calling this a masterpiece is as ridiculous as calling the Original 90's TMNT film a masterpiece... even though I like both of them a lot, they are both just way too flawed. Take a quick minute to watch this. It's pretty interesting. vimeo.com/28792404 I should probably add, that I absolutely cannot rave more about how outstanding the opening joker reveal in the beginning of the movie is. While it definitely could have been handled a little bit darker, and made a little less cartoon-like (people get shot a lot off the shot) I still think it was handled in such an amazing way with the pacing and dialogue. If the whole movie followed that level of quality, I might have liked it more.
John McClane I'm sorry but when did dark become the same as violent. Just having tons of violence and blood spilling wrenches doesn't make a movie "dark". Dark is a term referred to indicate that the substance is murky and doesn't play to the desires of the audience. In fact I am a huge fan of dark movies, Apocalypse Now, Pans Labyrinth, love those movies but none of them are dark because of their "violence" (in fact Apocalypse Now is not violent at all in comparison to most other war movies yet it's a much darker one than most). Apocalypse Now is a meditation on the transformation, men undergo in war, how they turn into dogs - that's dark and depressing substance. But the Dark Knight, I thought, went sadistic at times with too disturbing sequences. A cell phone stitched into a guy's stomach and rigged to explode, crossed a line even for me. That's just appalling. If that wasn't enough violence for you then you probably enjoy stuff like Saw III or something. Hack movies like [Babel] get fawned over for carrying insipid themes like “not communicating is bad.” The Dark Knight deals with dark thematic issues most movies never touch, like the West’s responsibility for terrorism, deceiving the masses for their own good, love not saving anyone and the impossibility of living up to heroic expectations. But I agree about the editing discrepancies. There are quite a few of them (and not just in the chase scene). Had Nolan's Batman movies been judged simply based on the action sequences they would've been sub-par. But the fact of the matter is that the Dark Knight has never been about the action. Nolan's Dark Knight unbelievably juggled the ideas of morality, fortitude, existentialism, anarchy and chance, all in one go. And I don't think it's an "epic struggle" between 2 polar opposites but rather the Dark Knight questions the significance of morality, the corruptibility of mankind and shows us how these 2 polar opposites aren't all that different after all. The Joker wants to expose the hypocrisy of society, this is his primary intention (very clearly stated in the interrogation scene- easily the best scene in the entire movie, in my opinion). He wants to show the world that the rules and morals we abide by are meaningless and just a big joke. He believes that in the moment of desperation, all of us are destined to drop our morality and embrace the warped world of anarchy. This is a daunting and depressing truth. How many of us will follow the traffic lights when being chased by a gunman or how many of us will pay respect to the elderly when running away from an explosion. Our world is kept in order because of the "code" society is meant to follow but the truth is no one is destined to follow it, in the most severe of circumstances. The Dark Knight is a ridiculously honest reflection of the the flaws surrounding our own post 9/11 society. It shows us how everyone's sanity is right on the edge - push hard enough and all of us are destined to drop our ethics and embrace chaos. The movie focusses on the Joker attempts to push people to the point of desperation, until we finally plummet over the edge. And again and again we see our "heroes" make the wrong choices. The boat scene makes us believe (atleast for a while) that, No! Humanity can remain moral in those extreme circumstances and we can choose to remain good if we want (but that's a flawed idea and Nolan understands that). He pulls us away from the light side towards the end as we watch Dent loose faith in the city he'd been fighting to protect and also when Batman (even the incorruptible Batman) is forced to break his code when he pushes Dent off the edge eradicating the one rule that separated him from the Joker. Nolan wants us to believe in the darkness within each of us, the mask we all wear, to hide our two-facedness (to hide the eternal conflict between light and dark that resorts within each of us). And the scene in the end when Dent is holding a gun to Gordon's son, claiming that the structures we've erected just create an illusion of harmony and the world is, in fact, a realm of chaos governed purely by chance, always gets me. Dent wants to punish Gordon for being so blind but he wants him to be in the same situation he was in. Because, he feels, that's fair. And then Batman speaks out "Rachel's death wasn't chance. We decided to act, we 3". This is where the Dark Knight really hits a nerve. Batman has just pointed out one of the the biggest complications in today's world. In a time when all was bad and only bad things happened, Batman, Dent and Gordon tried to do good, to change the present situation and it was because of their rash actions against the mob that the Joker came into the picture in the first place. All 3 are indirectly responsible for Rachel's death, (not the boy). The attempt to change the status quo of things has always caused pain to the one's who try to bring about the change. The only question is whether they can handle that and see themselves through. Dent couldn't and neither can a lot of us. How much darker can a movie get? If you thought 4 Months, 3 Weeks & 2 Days was dark, the Dark Knight is depressing as hell. I wonder why a "film connoisseur" like yourself wasn't able to pick up on that. The Dark Knight almost most perfectly matches the Othello-ian ("encroachment, complication, reversal, catastrophe and recognition") formula. The 2nd and 3rd Acts, in particular, are genius; throwing philosophical dilemmas at us over and over again - Is Batman promoting vigilantism and madness or is he inspiring people to stand up to corruption? Does a symbol, one of strength and justice, bear a greater value than the lives of citizens it looks over? Is the hero the outcast who fights crime illegally or the DA who "tries" to fight crime legally? Do the rules we abide by have any meaning at all because all of us are destined to drop them when the chips are down. How far does one push before people plummet over the edge (metaphorically)? In a world of order, does misfortune befall the wrong people or is the world cruelly governed purely by chance? Is it healthy for someone like Caesar or Batman to reign over a city or does absolute power always corrupt? This is the poetry behind the Dark Knight. The Dark Knight touches on these themes boldly and bravely, not ashamed of the fact the the lead character is a man dressing up like a Bat. How long has it been since we've seen a blockbuster that's so thought provoking? Not since Apocalypse Now, I would say. I consider this comic book adaptation to be the only masterpiece of its genre (and probably the only one that'll ever be) because it has turned pulp into something worthy of artistic appreciation. The Dark Knight is a film brimming with philosophical ideas, drowning in irony, filled with spectacular lines of dialogue and has provided me with one of the most profoundly moving experiences I've had in a cinema hall in a long time. And it's important to know that what I found most poignant in the Dark Knight is not so much of what it shows but what it represents (if that makes any sense).
The difference between Dark Knight and movies like Apocalypse Now or pans labyrinth is their visual honesty. Those two movies dont spare you any discomfort. Im frankly having a hard time taking you seriously. Pans lab, and apocalypse now are two of my favorite movies of all time, and i think its an intellectual joke to compare them with the Dark Knight in "Darkness". Theres no comparison

Probably the best soundtrack I have ever heard = MASTERPIECE!
Amazing composer, made my day today.
I can't be the only one that's crying
Jasmine Allen-peeroo Don't worry. You're not the only one...
Jasmine Allen-peeroo You aren’t
I'm smiling.
Heath Ledger :'''(
Actually I'm said because of the death of heath he was brilliant and my hero
NOLAN+ZIMMER+BATMAN= MASTER PIECE
shiriu18 u left out the man on the cover of the video HEATH LEDGER AS THE JOKER
@@bananakin1205 only in live action but there are several portrayals better and more faithful portrayals that are even deadlier and more intelligent and more aggressive than heath the comics and arkham jokers they are better written and more evil
This soundtrack always gives me goosebumps
I can't stop listening to this, its so epic!.
Saw Hans Zimmer live...and if you ever get a chance.. you should take it up...he is awesome Live...
Im actually so sad we didnt get another sequel of Christian Bale's Batman and Heath Ledgers Joker. I want to know what happened to Joker. :(
+Blitzer me 2 :(
I think Dc's has said that Suicide Squad is a Sequel to The Dark Knight Trilogy - just with other Actors -> same storyline
Simon Büttner Really? How would that work though?
+Blitzer I think they posted this information on Twitter or Facebook :)
+Simon Büttner No, Suicide Squad movie has nothing to do with Nolan's Batman-universe.
My most favorite movie of all time I remember watching it for the first time I was 7 years old back then I didn't understand much but I absolutely loved the movie God can you believe that it has bean 10 years already
this is still the best cut of all the rest I find on youtube. keep em coming my friend~
The best movie of all time. This and LOTR are the best trilogies.
how about The Godfather trilogy?
The third one was rather disappointing. Also Toy Story is a great trilogy.
Sampley Barinaga yeah but the ending was not that bad, Michael died sadly. The Godfather Part Two is my favorite . Also I love Toy Story 2 the most.
mulholland t True, and I preferred Toy Story 3.
Sampley Barinaga i guess u forgot THE BOURNE TRILOGY.
Am I the only one who gets Goosebumps everytime while listing to this music?
Nice Write for 1 Hours Joker PB nice name This guy is Cool
+Akeno Himejima haha Kollege PB heißt nur im Deutschen Profilbild
This is the single most breathtaking soundtrack that I've heard from Hans Zimmer! What a composer.
What a team... There is Christopher Nolan, director who gave us new perspective on cinema and out of the box movies, Hans Zimmer, already a legendary composer, Christian Bale one of the best actors of his generation and more... But then comes this guy nobody expected to play Joker... And the rest is history
Two words: Heath Ledger.
Foober Dooge Two more words: is awesome.
How about one fact: Heath Ledger is and always shall be awesome! P.S. - Foober Dooge, Heath Ledger is one name, not two words.
Foober Dooge That's not a word that's a name
Heath Ledger is one word.
The Best Joker of All time!
+Akeno Himejima And the best Batman.
he is just the voice actor. Acting on screen is completely different and harder to do.
I preferred the joker from the Michael Keaton batman personally if I’m honest but on batman I’m on the edge between all three
Izυкυ 『ᴅᴇᴋᴜ-ʙᴏɪ』 Mιdσяιyα No doubt
MartyJ Tv You’re nuts
I so remember looking forward to seeing this movie and the day it came out I went to get gas prior to seeing it and a couple attendants at the gas station asked me why I was happy and I told them I was on my way to see The Dark Knight and they said "Crazy!" and gave me the "You are a looney toon." gesture. I told them to fuck off and I have a right to like what ever movies I like.
11 years and counting. Still the best
