I was reading an article late last night before bed saying The US just bought 81 old unusable Soviet era aircrafts and is possible that we'll send them to Ukraine to use to repair their jets and use the remaining as decoys in abandoned airfields causing Russia to expend more missiles. Have you heard anything about this? Or is the news wishful thinking?

@@briankgbert9178 That sounds like a good idea. Not sure how they can get there if they can't fly though. Are they not too wide to put on trucks? Or can they be loaded on trucks vertically, maybe? But then they'll be too high to go under bridges. 🤔 Anyway, I hope the idea works.
The jets are pretty useless in terms of ability, got em at like 20k a pop. They'll use some for spare parts and the rest as decoys I read

Belgium is giving 4 to 5 F16 depending on the arrival of the F35 (that shuld have arrived last winter already) . Good news is that all Belgian F16 is going to be at disposal of UAF from 2025 ( about 40) at the pace as F35 arrives here. Belgium is training ground crews for F16. (certain) Repairs will be done in Belgium too
The pilots of the F-16s are being trained meet every situation.
Appreciate your perspective Georgijs. It’s so important to see the macro aspect of this war and how it favors Ukraine. When we obsess over the micro aspects, especially incremental map changes, we can become discouraged and disheartened. Trust in Ukraine.

When the map is greatly zoomed, a small gain looks like a large gain.
Yeah, everything is so small and incremental right now. Look at the dramatic geographical swings back and forth of say the North Africa campaign in WW2. Wars aren’t decided by a few km changing around.
@@ebrim5013 The problem is that we now see the war from the intimate viewpoint of the individual soldier, via bodycam, helmetcam & drone footage. This gives you the realisation that for each participant, that 100 yards dash across a field to a trench line is a life & death struggle. Wars are fought by squads of men, & platoons, not armies. I'm pretty sure those small gains are huge if you are on the front line.

Interestingly enough, russian casualties went up noticeably over the last few days. Yesterday 1320, almost a record high. Which means, while they may have moved with 5 brigades into Ocheretyne, they already lost one of them (plus another one on the remaining frontline).

How can anyone here in America actually vote against Ukraine from Russia? I don’t know,but one thing I know……I was a die hard republican all my life,not anymore!!!!! Never will I vote republican again.
Note that that many Senate Republicans voted FOR aid to Ukraine; also a hundred House members. Don't blame everyone for the stupidity of some.
If you was a die hard republican, you know that about half of the republicans did vote for the aid packet.

Something i cant figure out is why European countries(besides Poland and the Baltics) arent massively increasing arms productions? Even if the arms arent for Ukraine but for the countries own defence. How is this not a huge wake up call that even modern conventional wars still require vast amounts of artillery pieces and ammunition? Where did all the cold war stockpiles go? Russia loses more artillery pieces in a week than many European countries have in their entire armies. Why arent their companies world wide exponentially expanding their capabilities to produce ammunition? I can think of 3 scenarios that are almost sure to play out. One is they will be bought for Ukraine. Second, its obvious each country needs huge reserves for themselves. Third, the ammunition will be needed to deter future conflicts like China and Taiwan. It just blows my mind that after 2 years why not a single arms manufacturer in the world doesnt see a guaranteed payday by exponentially expanding the production of 155mm shells. As much as im so frustrated about us(America) piecemealing just enough weapons to keep things at a stalemate, Ukraine and Europe as a whole have been ignoring Russian aggression for 20 years and are still somewhat apathetic about countering it.
That's what happens after decades of peace and thinking that everyone significant had evolved enough by now to not invade their neighbouring sovereign countries.... We thought our only problems were terrorists in the middle east...!?! And mass economic illegal immigration.....
I know. It's very frustrating. 😞

@@Alie01 Do you have actual proof that Trump isn't going to win or is it just wishful thinking, because there is a good chance he will win, particularly when you look at the attitudes of voters in several of the battleground states like Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Nevada. The election is still a long way off, but voters in these states gave Trump consistently better ratings than Biden on the economy, inflation, and foreign policy, if you can believe that! I don't think he will win, either, but I am concerned.

Most of estimates of when Ukraine would debut the F-16s were utterly insane. If they appear by June, that will still be a fast job in getting them out there.
The muscovite gains are minimal, their losses are huge, Ukraine is winning. The battlefield extends beyond the frontline, and Ukraine has had to stand without proper support against overwhelming odds, they are heroes - I cannot fault their performance. Slava Ukraini..,..

thanks for the analysis. personally i find two things a bit frightening: the current shortage in manpower (that will hopefully be resolved without taking a massive hit on moral) and that breakthrough in the east (where i hope that logistics will struggle for russia to widen the bridgehead and maybe we will see a flanking counterattack from ukraine in the near future). did you hear any analysis regarding syrsky or so? i wonder how zalushnyi would have fared here, since he is known for being an excellent general for defensive operations.
