This is a good decision on BMWs part too. RIP Tesla. That's why he invested heavily on EVs, despite many protests from the board of directors and that's why the C63 W206 is a four cylinder plug-in hybrid, just like every high performance Volvo. And since Volvo is owned by Geely, which happens to be a 10% major shareholder of The Mercedes-Benz Group, Ola had plans to merge Mercedes-Volvo-Polestar all together. It would DaimlerChrysler all over again... This time electrified and backed by Chinese investors and BlackRock (Yes, really, THAT BlackRock presided by Larry Fink). Anyway, thank God that sales of the S-class and the failure of the EQS proved Ola wrong. Fire Ola and replace him with someone with a plan called MAMEGA - MAke MErcedes Great Again. I want a designer as talented as Bruno Sacco to design the cars and I want former BMW M and Porsche engineers to engineer the AMGs.

The reason is because the inlet is changing and the charging landscape of 800V on that plug is capable, but whether Tesla will ever widely adopt that voltage is slim at best for the near future. Hope they are made here stateside and qualify for the $7500 and the prices remain soft. At that point it may be a keeper meaning I would own it for multiple lease cycles. 14:20

  • Thank God. Let's just hope BMW improves the reliability of the N63 Twin-Turbo V8 engine, which has been a thorn on BMW owners' side since 2009. The N63 is the worst and yet one of the nicest engines BMW has ever made. It's a pain in the a$$ when it breaks down, but when it's running properly as it should, the N63 is very powerful, easily tunable and it even sounds better than the S63 V8 in the BMW M cars. Seriously, the BMW M850i sounds much better than the M8.

  • It is a shame in a manner as petroleum engines were (before it got scuttle by people getting understandably impatient I would say - toss in the towel and go EV); but petroleum - you cannot come close to beating it for compressed energy portability - it is gift from heaven it is so good BUT engines never had to be very efficient because there was just so much energy you could do a poor job of getting that translated to motion and still have that engine do more than it needed too. However, there were places all over the planet where standards of living allowed them to think - people "can and will" pay for these much better engines to combat the terrible - it is not the pollution we hear about but the stuff in the lower atmosphere that we can see and feel when walking around and breathing (so the buyer had a buy in to see the value in their life). In any case these really nice technologies lost like 30 years of slowly just refining old ideas on combustion but it not working out as well as envision but technology and refinement was more than opening the door to these engines not being so inefficient in taking advantage of that incredible energy (where we are with batteries we have efficient electric motors but the portable energy is out of alignment in the reverse of petroleum). Anyway just a thought or pondering on it.

  • I've got my lima beans and cough syrup and I'm buckled in. Let's go... to the insane asylum. Here's why. The American public has become immune to the firing of workers and it's sad. It's shocking how many people in KZhead comments attack labor. "They're too lazy." "They're uneducated." The privileged step on the necks of the working class. There once was a time when labor was respected. Workers sacrificed their time, lives, and often their families to ensure the success of companies. Respect and stability for hard work flew out the window with the dodo bird. Times have changed and it will only get worse. Elon Musk became the richest man in the world off the backs of labor. We are gaslit into believing that workers are flexible, that they can learn new skills, pick up, and move on. Many of these people can't. People are not malleable. Most people are lucky to master one skill in their life. If workers, all workers, even those in Tesla Shanghai, had ownership in Tesla, Elon Musk wouldn't be the richest man in the world but every single worker who shed blood, sweat, and tears would have a roof over the head, food to eat, and live without fear from what the next day will bring. Elon destroyed the lives of the people who built Twitter. Now Elon is destroying the lives of the people who built Tesla. Destruction is being wrought by billionaire oligarchs and no one has the will to do anything about it. The American Dream is over.
