Really funny how ppl here are arguing about some things =D 1. Serj and John are Armenians from Lebanon, Daron himself was born in Hollywood, but his parents are Armenians from Iraq, while Shavo was born in Yerevan (capital of Armenia) 2. Daron never had a brother, and as far as I know this song is about Daron's cousin who died in a fire (which is why in the music video, several things are burning but people do not care) 3. It's true that Armenians are actually Christian, but not all System members see themselves as Christian. Serj for example once said that he believes in the spirit of the native Americans (power of nature etc.) 4. Being Armenian does not really have anything to do with having or not having tattoos, it's just that they do not seem to have one.

When I first heard this song I was 19yo, it hit me so hard I thought back then that I was living the saddest days of my life, then I grew up facing tough days, multiple depressions, disappointments, heartaches and more, that I am sadly laughing now about how good my life was at that time and how my sadness reasons were just very futile. Maybe a lot of us went through the same sequences of life as mine, the only advice I can give to you all and myself as well, is to keep being strong and enjoy the few or lot of moments of happiness this life can afford.

I'm not about to disagree, but it is quite minimal. Not to say that's a bad thing. I think this song would've been reduced emotionally and musically if they just broke into a full minute of the dude shredding. For a good long time in my ol' teenage angst years this was a very thought provoking song for me (not the suicidal parts, but just acknowledging loneliness as something you face in life when you aren't really young enough to be cared for, but not old enough to care for yourself). Soldier Side is still a better song in the category of 'sad' songs by them though.

This helped me come back to reality, after feeling numb all day. Attending too many funerals and wakes recently of people whom i just saw alive only weeks ago. The last verse is simple and uplifting. Really funny how ppl here are arguing about some things =D 1. Serj and John are Armenians from Lebanon, Daron himself was born in Hollywood, but his parents are Armenians from Iraq, while Shavo was born in Yerevan (capital of Armenia) 2. Daron never had a brother, and as far as I know this song is about Daron's cousin who died in a fire (which is why in the music video, several things are burning but people do not care) 3. It's true that Armenians are actually Christian, but not all System members see themselves as Christian. Serj for example once said that he believes in the spirit of the native Americans (power of nature etc.) 4. Being Armenian does not really have anything to do with having or not having tattoos, it's just that they do not seem to have one.

When I first heard this song I was 19yo, it hit me so hard I thought back then that I was living the saddest days of my life, then I grew up facing tough days, multiple depressions, disappointments, heartaches and more, that I am sadly laughing now about how good my life was at that time and how my sadness reasons were just very futile. Maybe a lot of us went through the same sequences of life as mine, the only advice I can give to you all and myself as well, is to keep being strong and enjoy the few or lot of moments of happiness this life can afford.

I'm not about to disagree, but it is quite minimal. Not to say that's a bad thing. I think this song would've been reduced emotionally and musically if they just broke into a full minute of the dude shredding. For a good long time in my ol' teenage angst years this was a very thought provoking song for me (not the suicidal parts, but just acknowledging loneliness as something you face in life when you aren't really young enough to be cared for, but not old enough to care for yourself). Soldier Side is still a better song in the category of 'sad' songs by them though.
