  • Thank. You. So much haha I’ve just started doing voice overs for Audible and my loudness has been the largest complaint from clients and finding this has helped so much!

  • Thanks for the video. I'm pretty new to Audacity and I had a hard time following at points because of your zoom. Thank again!

  • hey! very informative video! I have a concern with the static sound my microphone picks up. I am using the Samson Q2U USB microphone. How did you remove static sound in the background when recording?

    @MrJmanguera@MrJmanguera4 жыл бұрын
    • Good morning. There are so many things that can product static, it is just about impossible to give you a proper answer, without hearing a sample. It could be anything from a bad mic connection, to overhead florescent lights. Maybe this article I wrote may help. Also, if you send me a 30 second clip of your audio raw, (no processing, just record it), I will have a listen. www.danatucker.com/signal-paths/my-signal-path/

  • Hi there - great video. I'm nw to recording and my gauge on the db goes from 0 to -57 nowhere near what yours shows. I've recently downloaded Audacity so it looks different to what I have showing as well.

    • Hello James. Open Audacity, go to Edit, then Preferences, then Interface and look to the right for the drop down box that says "Meter db Range. Make your selection there to increase your meter ranges.

    • @@DanaTucker1 Thanks. The new look is different so it's not under edit but under the 'audacity' drop down, so I found it. Thank you!

  • Hi, my version of Audacity doesn't have the 'nyquist' option, is there another way to do the same thing with the 3.3.1 version? My problem is that when I raise my voice it causes distortion in it, but Audacity doesn't recognise it as clipping... Thanks! I could send you the audio if you need to hear what I'm talking about

    @melinduh@melinduh2 жыл бұрын
    • I have not used Audacity for years. The best I can remember, Nyquist came with it. I have no idea if they removed it with their updated versions. Sorry. They do have a official forum, just google audacity community forum. They should be able to help you.

  • I wish I had a noise floor of -69dB. My noise floor is around -57dB to reach -10db consistently during normal speech. That's after fiddling with it for hours. I have a condenser microphone. I thought the sweet spot was in the end, but it turned out to be on two diametrically opposed sides. Good enough for now. I'll try a PCI sound card when I can afford it.

    @paulparker1425@paulparker14253 жыл бұрын
    • There really is a big difference between a dynamic and condenser when it comes to the noise floor.

    • Your mic placement will depend on how loud you sing, the environment you are singing in, but most importantly, the make and model of the mic you are using.

    • That is why I no longer make videos recommending Audacity. You can google their official forum and you will see thousands of people, having the same issues as yourself. If you are using a USB condenser mic, you have just about already lost the battle.
