DC had to tell him to stop because he didn't want to get in trouble by being honest. DC has to hype up fighters (especially a champ like Alex is) on camera, off camera he doesn't.

After his rehydration ( 232lbs not even considering his actual weight inside the cage) “ I love Francis Ngannou. I think he’s a great guy. But if I spent 22 minutes on top of him, I would have gotten four or five submissions and found a way to get some TKO stoppages.” If dc said that about Francis, you best belive he feels the same way of Perreira. He just likes to be seen/proceived as darling to the masses and not be criticized. Be like Charles Barkley and fuck what they FEEL. Speak your truth and stop faking it. Hence why smith said if the cameras wasn’t there you would’ve diff answer.

    • We get his point it's just really dumb. The best MMA fighters in history were all specialists that learned enough in other areas to implement their unique skills. Guys like Anthony Smith who are 'well rounded' struggle to cope with the fact that they will always lose to someone who is much better in one part of MMA while being less 'well rounded'. Guys like Alex, Khabib, Maia, etc. show that being the most skilled in one area is better than being above average at everything. Anthony is the one missing the point and would get KO'd in less than 2 mins shooting sloppy takedowns against Alex. The only elite 'well rounded' guys in MMA history were GSP and Mighty Mouse, and they both started as elite strikers and over time developed elite grappling.

  • EVERYONE knows that POATAN didn’t get to where he is Today from his high level Grappling, but just because he’s beating everyone and doesn’t have to use his Grappling to do it, does NOT mean he just can’t grapple!! He is SO GREAT at his Style and his game that he doesn’t NEED the Grappling of “Damien Maia” to win!! But if it was so easy to take him down and beat him on the Ground, then why hasn’t it happened atleast just Once? Why, because he’s so much better than everyone he fights!! PURE and SIMPLE SO STOP HATING ON THE BROTHER!!!

  • I've literally never seen anyone say Alex has a "fire" ground game. But he's not helpless and just keeps getting better. And as long as he keeps sleeping dudes with that left hook it doesn't matter.

    @scalz420@scalz4208 күн бұрын
  • The thing is that smith will say it in an insulting way then act like he only said it because he’s at the desk and gets asked stuff. He won’t say the person is only good at one thing. He will call the person basic at everything but striking. He intentionally says it in the worst way possible

    @spudgreg@spudgreg7 күн бұрын
  • he's got enough ground game to get back to his feet, and he's managed to do it every single time so far. that's huge for someone like pereira. no he's not going to be submitting people, but WHO CARES! that's not what the fans wanna see. anthony's trying to make it seem like he's still giving him his due props, but he's not. not when he's making these blanket statements like ''he's got one thing'', or ''i don't understand how he keeps winning''. bro it's not rocket science, he's an elite striker who's able to stay on his feet

  • All these Idiots and ignorants in the comments praising Anthony Smith smh.. The problem he has with Alex is he has been targeting him with slander and disrespect even way before when Alex was still at MW. Smith has been talking non stop in podcasts specifically criticizing Alex in a way like you criticize a young rookie fighter and its bad if it's coming from a mediocre fighter like Smith

  • I get where he’s coming from. People just like hating on him from there couch cause there’s nothing better to do. Regardless Alex would murder him but to pretend Alex is an elite level grappler is crazy. He is one dimensional, that’s not an insult, it’s a statement of fact

The fact people are even trying to argue that Pereira can outgrapple ppl is wild lol Smith wasn't being disrespectful, he was just saying if a guy who doesnt gas out can get through Pereira striking and get control and be heavy on him...that's the only path to victory against him. And the fact that it's a gaping OBVIOUS hole and guys still can't get there to take advantage is nuts. Thats all anthony was saying lol

  • As a wrestler I see so many holes in the ground game . Especially when I see him struggle to get back up there is so many ways back to your feet as long as your legs aren’t trapped under you which his usually aren’t . He doesn’t base up very well and there’s always openings for chokes etc . But this dude is a monster when you do get him down you better hope you finish it cause every round starts on the feet and I think DC is right Alex kicked him 10 percent and u saw how he reacted he probably wouldn’t be able to take the strikes .
