If you enjoyed my rambling, please consider dropping a follow on twitch! twitch.tv/xtwoshoes :)
I just got my first few regulars now it's a lot easier to grow I went from 1 to 10. I would say the key is to be interactive with chat. but you dont get chat if you stop talking
Just wanted to say I really appreciate this video cuz I lowkey want to start streaming, and your tips seem so much more realistic that those I read before. Also your personality seems really cool -- might have to consider following haha
Thank you for this bud, I hope that I can work on these and grow my stream community! Thank you again. Cheers.
Yo what's your discord man you seem chill and want to hang with the community. (You should put the link in the description on vids so people can join)
I play on console, do you have any recommendations on quality capture cards
STRONGLY agree with hiding view count, been doing it for my entire 2 1/2 year run on twitch. Speaking of volatile, looking at view count has far too many possibilities of altering your mood mid stream. Some say "seeing a higher view count gives me motivation." Sure I'll give you that, but as a content creator you need to distance yourself emotionally from view count as much as possible in order for the experience to be actually enjoyable, and seeing a lower than expected viewer number can make that experience exactly the opposite.
100%! Thanks a lot for the insight :)
damn bro "you type like mirage"
Same I’ve still been doing that as of today
seeing as 1 viewer is my average, i would say that anything over 1 is good lmao
Could not agree with you more and its a trap i have fallen into over and over again however i also know first hand that you can have say 25 viewers average and have a really quiet stream and then another day you can be on a 10 viewer stream and have lots of chat rolling/crazy donations/hype trains, you never know whats going to happen on twitch, as long as you stick to the fundamentals just keep going.
I started streaming just because i was like “sure why not”. And 5 months later ive made affiliate, and i can say with certainty its the best hobby ive ever had
Nice! Keep it up:)
@@xTwoShoes thanks! Appreciate it
Congrats man!!
Lucky I’ve been trying but no one comes
@@malachispraulding3060 not everyone has the personality
I am streaming since a few weeks now and I was soooo happy when the first viewer started to write in my chat and actually stayed for the whole stream.
Awesome! Keep it up:D
I will. Thank you :)
awweee, i cant wait to have this feeling 🥺
Same, it actually happened on I think my first stream...
I would rather have 1 viewer that is consistent and not 100 viewers that don’t even type
"Don't go into a channel and just say you're going live then leave. It tells us nothing about you." Actually, it tells me lots about you. I definitely don't want to form a relationship with you as you will attempt to use me and my platform to claw your way to the top and make everyone around you feel uncomfortable in the mean time. Good luck in your future endeavors, person I'll never see in my chat again.
The only time you should EVER talk about your own stream in someone else's chat is if you raided them and you were asked about how it went explicitly by them.
The reason i started on twitch is because i got inspired.. and i wanted to have love and have ppl care for me but also make people happy and smile. Give ppl hope and encouragement. And none of mt intent is to get a shit ton of money
Nice! Keep it up:)
I stream just as a hobby, to have fun 🤩 and to get involved with computers 💻
@@Blueman2018 yeah✨✨....I too started using twitch today😂
I just started to we all can support each pther
I started streaming on twitch to play with a group of friends that were streaming, and to grow our circle and play various games with other fun people...maybe build a community.
i streamed doom eternal today and i titeled it " getting banned from my church for playing this" and i actually got more viewers than usual

That's actually smart. It's the kind of title that'll definitely get people interested enough to click and at least see what it's about.
Good tips man. 🤘😎
Thank you so much:D
Did you try them?
Fantastic advice man! Really enjoyed listening to it. Great too see more Irish lads on here 👍🏼
Yo!! Thank you so much! I actually watch a lot of your vids and those so cool to hear! Really appreciate it. Go raibh mile :D
I can definately sign the hidden viewer count. when i began streaming, it always felt like i did something wrong when the counter drops even from like 5 to 4 and pressured me when i saw it goes up. So until i found out that you could actually hide the count, i covered the part of my screen that displays it. It is such a relief to not be pressured, especially if you think that like 3-4 are watching and get a notification about an average of 15 after the stream. So i can definately recommend doing that.
Also, I keep view count up because It has never altered my personality on stream, I streamed to NO ONE for a year and a half and honestly had a lot of fun either way. I learned from that 1 1/2 year that I know exactly what I want to do and stick with it. Now I have some regulars and viewers... the only thing that has changed and is a bit harder to do is keep track of chat. I'm the same guy as last year, but with viewers. I'll find myself rambling on a subject far too long due to the habits of streaming to no one in the past.
Thanks for keepin it 100!!! I've been sticking to youtube mostly but definitely looking forward to using these tips on Twitch as well.
Really nice and solid tips, thanks so much! I am reluctant on turning off my viewer count but mostly because I like to see when people get too tired to keep watching (since most of my streams are late at night) and not necessarily to be motivated by the number itself. Also not seeing twitch as a business right away is just such a good mindset!
Thank you! Honestly do whatever works for you:) Best of luck!
Appreciate it man. I'm out here trynna grow after a year of being hard stuck and imma try to apply some of the things you said! Thx for this bro!
I've been watching these "tips" videos for a while now, probably dozens of them, but this is top-tier advice. Seriously. Especially the "networking" aspect. Really sound (and logical when you think about it) advice. Well done, man!
Thank you so much!
I do art as a hobby. Just learned to stream, while stream while I do this hobby, of it turns into something it's a bonus!
I really want to start streaming just as a means to make friends and socialize, but I'm intimidated by all of the people who do take it seriously. It's hard to feel confident and comfortable even though my expectations are practical. Thank you for the suggestions.
Just block out the noise:) Streaming can be as chill or as serious as you want. But if having fun is your goal, then absolutely go for it!
I thought like you up until I turned 18, then when I graduated from highschool I just kind of looked at my worries and laughed . I just decided one day to say fuck what people think? Do you,and thats it. Keep your eye on the goals you set. No point in worrying about what others think. Also you get a fancy / shiny ban hammer for your streams.

Some great tips here Dan, I've made all those mistakes and will no doubt keep making them! Definitely lots to keep in mind even if people don't want to grow but just want to keep having fun - Twitch isn't fun if no one is watching!
Thanks bro! I'm guilty of nearly everything here, that's how I learned. Keep it up:)

When I first watched this video I was so surprised with how little your sub count was, you have so much knowledge and are so good at explaining things! You’ve earned yourself a new subscriber!
Thanks for the kind words!!
Honestly I do want to make streaming and general content creation my career, and I do come in with that mindset, but videos like this really help to remind me that I have to start it as something I like first, and worry about money later. If I focus on money alone, I won't make good content, and won't get anywhere I think
Exactly! I was worried that my thoughts on this section came off as negative to those who want to make it a career. But self belief is so important! You got this!
This is the second streaming advice video I've seen and it's super helpful. Thank you for making this and being real with the things to do/don't do when you're new!
I'm so glad! Thank you!
Sounds like great advice to me! I like the friendship not networking idea, especially. It seems that we have an older notion where we need to do “networking,” when we’d probably rather make friends, anyway, and this is what is proposed as working better on Twitch. Thanks, xTS!
Very well said! Thank you so much!
@@xTwoShoes Pleasure is mine... Thank you for your work here!
I'm new to streaming, literally only done 2 streams thus far and I know that I'm still learning the ropes. Hell, my friend told me that my capture window should have been at the bottom after I finished streaming! Now I'll be able to see the chat in stream. I have a lot of fun streaming and really want to make a living off it, I like it, I enjoy entertaining people. This kind of video is pretty helpful for people like me
@@josiahdejesus_ I already have over 100 followers, you're 5 months too late for that offer
This has been the absolute MOST helpful "how to" twitch video I've seen. The view counter DEFINITELY makes me get in my head and I definitely do start to get awkward when I see it go up XD Thank you for talking about more than just "post on social media", that's all I ever see
Glad it helped!
I felt targeted as soon as I heard the “come say hi” title 🤣🤣
Im sorry :D
@@xTwoShoes it’s cool lol just shows I was definitely doing something wrong
Lol my buddy I was streaming with did the same thing and I was like bro please stop. I eventually started streaming on my own because I could tell he would just create a stream I didn't want to take part in anyways. He hated anime and was just...kind of a hater in general so I knew our communities just couldn't possibly mix.
Lovin the accent. I'm subbing actually hearing detailed tips and saying why to do or not to do them I love that
This video is what I needed. I just made the decision to stream and the first one was very rough. It felt awkward streaming to no viewers. I am going to apply the principles you discussed and change my mindset. Thanks for making this video, it helped me rethink my stream!
Glad I could help!
what's your twitch
I started streaming four years ago without any knowledge or experience, and yes, I set myself up for a hard letdown not once, not twice, but many times. I can't begin to tell you how many times I've given up. Most of us are guilty of this mindset, but it's part of the learning experience. It's how we mature in this industry. You have to crawl before you can walk. Nowadays, I have fun. I don't think about fame and fortune. If it happens, it happens. If I have only one viewer in my chat, I treat that one viewer like 110k viewers. Don't get me wrong, I want to make it in this industry. I love what I do, yet I'm still finding myself here. Happy streaming to all of you, and have fun because remember, this is why we do what we do.
Thank you sir for being humble and giving me both tips and confirming on a few things that I do correctly. I have learned a lot out of this. Thank you my friend.
So nice of you! Thank you:)
How to grow on twitch. Stop listening to others methods, and be yourself. If you know you can do it, you can and you will figure it out all by yourself. If you want to listen to others, then go ahead and make a gamble on who's advice is solid or not. Just because someone has x amount of viewers on twitch does not mean it will work the same for you, using their method. Everyones method is catered to their style and personality. So just do you! Example. I am thin and athletic..no fat issues. People ask me diet advice but I will never advise someone to follow my diet. I eat very fattening things to stay skinny...yeap...Over active metabolism. So someone with a different personality....I mean metabolism might get over the weight they wanted following mine. Never assume someone's method of success will work for you. Take all advice with a grain of salt. If anyone says this is THE way..or THE method..etc...run away.
Well said 👏👏
that’s terrible advice. If you wanna grow you have to steal from other people that are already successful or if you are lucky enough and only if you are lucky you do it your own way but 9 times out of 10 what this guy just said will never work

Another thing I've noticed as somebody who's just started streaming is choosing when I stream. Like I can see the difference in my viewership when I stream on a Friday night vs like the middle of the day on a Tuesday.
This is the best way to explain how to grow your channel. The part that got me was when you said "don't be afraid to ban people cos you might lose a viewer" and that is a fact! Love the video and thanks for the tips/pointers that I need to work on. 💪🏽🔥💯
Thank you! Best of luck with everything!

This is the first video that’s actually helped how I view and feel about streaming, especially that last point. Thanks man 👍

The best advice I can give people is JUST DO IT. It can be so so stressful, overwhelming and scary, when you do all these researches and you're like I can't do this. Just do it. It's part of learning. you will find what works for you. It might take a while but you will find it if you keep with it. And remember your viewers, even just the name. If they come back in to say hi and you remember them and reply with hey (-) I haven't seen you back in a while, how have you been, we've missed you. It means so much to them. Be yourself, be stupid, be quirky, don't take yourself too seriously, make fun of your mistakes. Treat your viewers as friends, you're there to hang out and the more the merrier. Keep a schedule, ye everyone says that it's so hard but humans are creatures of habit, you want to build a community based on consistency. But on the other hand do not force yourself too much. Take mental breaks, know when to stop or you will regret it and feel like you have not put your best self out there. These are what I have learnt so far. I'm still a small streamer but I feel these helps not just with the stream but also with my mentality.

Hey! Just wanted to make a comment to say I hid my viewer count way before seeing this video, and I definitely expected it to make the list! It is genuinely such a great decision. By the end of the day, you're really just on Twitch to have fun. Have fun with it, and don't stress about viewer count when you're starting out. Great vid.

Thank you so much! And extra thanks for the sub! That's awesome!
Loved this, I feel like my stream got many of its views because of the tight knit community in the aviation sector. I enjoy the other streams when I’m not working my primary job or studying for school etc. and I’ve done what I can to make the experience a full interaction.
Thanks for sharing and thanks for the kind words!
I started cause it looked fun, I like making others laugh and Im a curious person when it comes to games "Can I do this method to get over here" *Dies* ok maybe not" I needed this advice though I turned off viewers and I do practice anyways cause I'm always talking about the game or thinking out loud. Numbers don't really matter I enjoy games as a whole if its just me so be it. I am having fun with the game im playing. I do test streams or talk about my goals and such cause I want everyone to know hey im trying to get better and to bring more things to the table for you to enjoy or watch. I love expressing the growth I'm doing and getting advice from others. It all comes down to the community you make, at the end of the day these viewers or people are joining your streams. They take time out of their day to enjoy YOU. They make the choice to join your community and invite others to it, its better to be humble then to be "ahh yes GIVE ME YOUR MONEY! ALL YOUR BASE BELONG TO US" type person.
This is really good advice!!! I will definitely stop by some time on your stream and say hi!!! Much love
thanks for the information !
Jeez when I started watching this video I figured you had a few hundred thousands subs, very high quality content. Keep up the good work man, ur going places.

This was very, very helpful. Especially the tip about networking to make friends. I’m so scared of networking because I don’t want people to think I’m just using them, but at the same time there are so many creators who obviously have more followers/subscribers/whatever than me and I think they’re just really cool and I think would be an amazing friend. It’s a struggle mate, haha.

Love your Advice your words stick with me time & time again. True reliable Fact's. Most of the scenarios you speak about I have seen actually happen on Twitch. Your Advice is priceless. 👍👍
The title thing reminds me of one of my streams I called it wise up and call me Carl poppa (from bad lip reading) when playing 7 days to die
And yeah that’s very true about the fluctuation. I was getting like 12 to 17 viewers per stream for a while and I was so excited I was getting momentum and I lowered my hours at work which I really don’t regret still. But now I get like two viewers for the last hour of my stream which is only two hours. It goes to show you how things can change but also goes to show you how the members of your community can make a difference. There was one viewer that was very engaging and she would engage me and she would engage the audience and everybody loved them. I noticed when they stopped coming to the streams, that’s when everything changed.
I feel that bro I got 1 really cool dude who comes at chats with me alot and I feel like my stream would die down a lot with out him.
I've been streaming for 2 months and just made affiliate and I love it. Playing games and interacting and meeting new people is one of my most favorite ways to spend time. Very good tips in this video. Good luck everyone! You can do it :)
Good stuff! Keep it up:)
Wow I really needed to hear this about 6 months ago
Man, excellent tip about the Discord! Same goes with reddit or wherever If you are wanting to promote KZhead, or anything in life. You have to give if you want to take. And that’s not a bad thing because it’s going to pay off so much better. It’s the complete difference between somebody walking up to your car and knocking on the window during your lunch break and asking for $10 vs a family member doing the same.
I'm actually glad that I already do most of these stuff. But some of the advice does make sense, and I kinda feel dumb for not following them.
